Good evening to the round! I am currently busy with the V40 petrol engines of PhaseII – everywhere you read about the defect of camshaft adjustment. Now such internet searches have the catch, that you can only find negative statements and the satisfied drivers rarely report. So I would be interested, who drives a PhII petrol engine here, first of all the 1.8 122hp and has no problems with the camshaft wheel? How often does the defect occur when? Some wrote (yes, I have searched the SuFu) of intervals 40-60k kilometers. Others have 180.000km on it and do not mention any defect…also in the “Who has how much KM on the Tacho” thread smoked turbochargers more often… So please get out with the language MfG

Engine runs round, various parts already replaced Volvo V40 BJ , 2,0T
Hello dear ones, I’m very desperate right now and need help. My Volvo ran a while unround, apparently means on 3 cylinders instead of on fours. Since the plugs to the ignition coils were already falling quite apart from the age, we changed them. No change, but on the contrary, everything worse: it only ran on 2 cylinders. Then we changed the ignition coils, because only the cylinders ran on them the coils are on it. Also no real improvement. Finally, the cables to the other two cylinders measured, had no passage, exchanged and runs now on 4 cylinders, but somehow he doesn’t take the gas properly, he stutters so little ahead of him, but he doesn’t properly run. I don’t know how to describe it differently. I have a few guys at my hand who know each other, but there is now everyone with his Latin at the end. Maybe you still have the one or other idea. Otherwise I have to explain him for dead and that would be really thank you for your tips in advance, Amlie

Camshaft – 1.8 l – variable valve control
Hello, so here’s the problem of my elk: my 1.8 l, bj 03 (good 70.000km, almost all motorway) makes noise in the engine room. the magnet switch for the variable valve control (the device for the adjustment of the camshaft – so the friendly one), has been changed. the noise is still there. now the mechanics should be changed for this – i.e. my half motor should be taken apart. Nicely I should pay for the then not defective part anyway. does someone have similar problems – is this perhaps a serial error? thank tex P.S.: Oh yes, does anyone know how expensive the fun for the friendly elsprechstund can be???

Loader at 2.0t 120 kW mileage
Moin together, my 2004 2.0t is actually still very good together. But since the spare parts supply is getting thinner so slowly, I wonder if I should put another loader on reserve. Have now 235 Mm down. Since a long time I hear the loader cry a bit, which was not the case at the beginning. My screwdriver said that that was no problem at all. Does anyone know that, since someone has experience with it? Second question: I have a hearing-able roar at such 120 km/h in the 5th gear. I could imagine that at the rear engine bearing, which is quite close to the exhaust, the rubber has become quite hard. Does it bring something to make that new? That part is fortunately still available, and because I would like to drive my little elk as a second car as long as possible, I would invest one or the other.

Automatic gearbox causes problems – transmission oil problem?
Dear community, as a relatively freshly baked owner of a V40 2.0 136 hp automatic, I have the following problem: The automatic control light is flashing and the car hardly takes on gas. According to the operating instructions you should then drive in stage L (load operation) then he brings a little more “force” on the road. Has been the case before once last week, however, the problem at that time was “resolved”, gas was assumed and the control light was off. Today it happened again and in the control of the automatic transmission oil I am overwhelmed to assess whether this color is rather red or brown, picture attached. Vll. is only on the oil (hopefully), someone has had similar experiences and knows if the color of the oil looks so “healthy”? LG and always safe ride!

Temperature problems
Hello, As seen in the picture, the temperature of my V40 is a little high this remains almost unchanged even there whether I drive or stand. However, the temperature does not rise any further. I had the same problem last weekend, then left the car standing from Saturday evening to Monday noon, ordered me a CO reaction test at Amazon (Good but with good reviews therefore I do not want to summon the function of the test 100 percent!). However, this is negative. Then I went off on Monday afternoon to see what happens to determine after more than 20km of mixed drive that the car probably has self-healing powers. So until yesterday afternoon(Thursday) I started to loosely 300km + without any further abnormalities. Now I noticed Thursday evening after longer driving that the fan runs constant at first level and also after and during about 30km of driving does not run out. After turning off the engine he ran after and then went out. Today I start driving, engine gets warm fan jumps at temperature up to the point on the picture (fan on top of the highest stages) I can not turn off the engine again at 20km.

V40 1.8l does not start, no spark
Hello, I recently got a Volvo V40 BJ. 98 (probably Mj.99) with a 1.8l petrol engine (it’s the engine from the Renault cooperation) and a manual gearbox. He ran without problems until now until I put off the car the day before yesterday (until then no signs of bitching) and he just didn’t want to start in the evenings. Symptoms: – Symbol immobilizer extinguishes – Starter turns the engine but does not start – due to some measurements we replaced the crankshaft sensor on suspicion, but did not bring anything – As it looks no spark, measurements of the two ignition coils leave but suspect that it’s not on the coils – I still have a KKL cable lying around here and have worried about the test version of VOL FCR. Interestingly, however, I do not come to all the control units but – the engine control unit. Now I don’t know of course – the next thing is that it’s on the cable, the software or the control unit? – The safety for the petrol pump and the engine control unit is in order, the control unit is not on the control unit.

Why order a new one ?
My V40 T4 (built in 2003) will now be exactly 10 years old in a few days. He still purrs like a kitten and does his name all honour! Okay… he was always cared for and is of course a checkbook. So until now, a new one doesn’t make sense for me. What about you? How old are your elks? And after how many years or KM are you replaced by a new one? Here’s a small video of my elk.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SaVB3L6DnWs His 10 birthday is hard to see… and performance-wise, he’s still good at the new one! Greetz

V40 2.0T- what to consider
Hello, I’m new and I’m thinking of buying a V40 2.0T. I already have a specific offer: 146Tkm 160PS manual transmission EZ 09/99 HU/AU new climate silver luxury package with on-board computer, FH electric (front and rear), speed control system, ECC climate control, and textile footroom mats; premium design package with double headlights, interior decor inlays, jacquard/leather padding anthracite, light-metal rims 16 inches, and sports leather steering wheel; roof spoiler painted in car color, middle armlahne front and rear, fog lights. Check stitched, winter tires, inspection new as well as 1 year warranty. Unfortunately, I don’t even know about the Volvo’s. What do you think about the Volvo, what would it be worth and what I have to pay particular attention to – even when driving etc? And do you have experience with it when an AHK is with it?

Instead of retrofitting an on-board ccmputer ….Turbo Gauge IV for OBDII including 4in1 scan car computer?
Hello Volvo specialists, my V40 Bj98 has unfortunately no BC and no temperature indicator. After reading many articles concerning the on-board computer I prefer to leave it with the retrofitting because I do not know if the connections are available and whether the control unit has to be unlocked. It is also mainly about the consumption indicator and of course further data would be practical and interesting. Now I am on this offer: Turbo Gauge IV for OBDII incl. 4in1 Scan Auto Computerhttp://cgi.ebay.de/ws/…rack=true&ssPageName=VIP:watchlink:top:de Maybe someone has experience with it or is the thing nix? Thank you and best regards Norbert
