  • Accident repair, was everything made worse?

Hi, a month ago I was with my V40 at the dealer where I had bought it in the workshop. So I had to check the starter because he often caused problems. After the check the workshop manager drove his private car backwards into my parked Volvo. Damage: – right xenon headlights pressed in and glass broken – bonnet pressed in – radiator grill broken – fender right dented – engine cooler pressed in back – apron broken – This small discwisc This workshop belongs to a friend of my ex who also uses the car. He also wanted to repair the damage, the insurance from the cause of the accident pays yes… Now after almost 3 weeks the car is practically finished again, but there is a problem and he does not want to push the car out again: 1. D he new right xenon headlights is a different one than before. I had there some with black caps around the pears, the new one is a quite normal 2nd bonnet and fenders were fetched by him and laked, but colour differences can be seen… 3. The engine cooler is “only” a reworked, so no new one, supposedly no longer exists 4. He has dismantled both headlight wipers, allegedly gets the broken one no longer repaired and thinks it would be better to take them away anyway, so I’m also insecure because of the value of the car… He just took it off… 5. and worst: After a few minutes of running the engine comes a strange noise from the direction of the timing belts. Is such a scratching which then repeats itself every second…?! Because of this problem he doesn’t want to give us the car out because that still has to be done, whatever the problem is. Costed however extra, only what is that and how can be so if there is no damage from rher was and he didn’t move the car? I uploaded some photos for that, what happened there… MfG

  • Incentives to think (injection of performance)

Hello, for some time now it’s bothered me that my 98er 2.0T in the upper speed range at ~4,500 upm has a power break. It doesn’t always occur, but mostly. In the Excel table I have a normal acceleration process and one with a power break. You can see in the yellow area as it hangs at 4,480upm. All values break in at some point. But this definitely only happens at this speed. Are ~4,500upm not the “end” of the turbocharger? What else is at this speed? Wonder the position of the throttle flap with 32%. Please rename the ending of the EMS 2000 file in *.xls if it doesn’t happen automatically. Greeting Tom ps: Ignition coils, cables and candles are new. pps: what are these for hoses on the photo?

  • Final stage into the side section of the V40

Hello Elchgemeinde! would like to put a Helix HXA400 Esprit in the trunk, but the left side part seemed to me as optimal (compared to the series Subwoofer) Here I imagined to bend a sheet metal in the shop, on which I can then screw the final stage on it. My question would be now, because everything in the trunk is covered with fabric. How I could make the sheet metal there best without much effort… Can I fold the cover material straight away, so that I can get down to the sheet metal !? Would it be possible to make it so that not too much of the original is damaged or that it could be rebuilt afterwards.

  • Stutter S40 at low speed under load

Hello dear forum, since I am a newcomer, first of all many thanks for the many good information that I have already read with you and which have helped me more often:-) Unfortunately, this time the search did not help me, therefore here the topic: My ’96 S40 1,8 257tkm annoyed me recently with the following behavior: At low speed (1100 – 1700 rpm) a stutter occurs during acceleration. Last year a ignition coil passed over Jordan, the 2nd I (since then a similar behavior was) now also replaced. Unfortunately without success. Unfortunately, also the ignition plugs, the air filter and an oil change are new. Unfortunately, the friendly one (so this means here, or?) on site meant that it could be a cooked thrush flap, I let it clean (One hour work – 95 €!!! is normal) again without speed … Unfortunately again without success (the whole response behavior of the engine has become noticeably better by the various measures) STOTTER?

  • Problem after wash road

Hello dear Foris! Today I thought that I could give my elk “the best” laundry in the wash road at the first sun rays and rising temperatures, and what was the end of the song? The elk became strangely in the wash road to the kangaroo. When I was on the city traffic after I left the wash road, my V40 2.0 only hopped forward in the first and second gear at speeds between 1500 and 2500 revolutions. And this quite unsavory. But the problem also does not occur permanently, but sporadically. The hot, this evening I was shopping again and then it ran as usual completely normal. On my elk the following things are new: timing belts, water pump, zünkers, oil filters, air filters. Perhaps one of you has a flimming idea with what was infected for a virus of the elk in the wash road. Or was it possible only by chance and it had nothing to do with the wash road? Thank you all.

  • Phase1 V40 TD switch to clear glass headlights need Help pls

Hello guys, would like to upgrade my elk V40 TD 1997 to clear glass headlights. Either in the phase2 look (unfortunately the side of MikeTDI down) or in some retrofit headlights possibly with integrated flasher ala Ebay or something like that. I know that there are already n pile of Freds on this topic, but either they refer to the side of Mike which is no longer On or are so old that the links to recommendations on Ebay are no longer valid. So my request to you: Did one of you find any guidance similar to that of Mike on the net? Or where can I buy qualitatively good and price acceptable sets, best in black and incl. Blinker… so what are your experiences or purchase recommendations? I thank you already for your help:-) grußen Tom

  • Buying a car: Volvo V40 with 225tkm (BJ96) 2.0 136hp? What to consider?

Hi! Would you like to buy an “old” Volvo V40 2.0 100kw. Problem with the thing is that the car has already a good 225tkm down. From the outside it looks quite fine. I planned to try the car on the weekend. What should I pay special attention to, not to buy a “thinking moose”? – What are the changing intervals for the timing belt? – familiar problems with the model series/engine? – Is the engine already “finished” with 225000km? Thank you for your help!

  • Subwoofer V40 T4

Hello people. I’m sorry that I opened up a new topic again. I just didn’t find the right answer in the existing one. my colleague has a V40 T4 year 2001 with original subwoofer back right. I think he’s passive. my colleague doesn’t know electrics so well, I have a golf 3 myself, but know me well with electrics (professional electronics). we want to install a blue-point active subwoofer in the suitcase room. now the question: where can I pick up the sound signal for the subwoofer? simply with the original in the side wall? where do I get the remote signal for the subwoofer? current cable is clear to me, from battery in the interior to the rear. the original radio (volvo radio with cd and cassette) we want to keep on every case. as I said, I come from the VW Golf 3 world and therefore don’t know me so much. I hope that someone can explain it friendlyly.

  • V40 1.9 D, BJ 2003

Hello dear Volvo-Freaks I am looking for a reliable, economical combination, which nevertheless brings a certain degree of comfort, as I mostly drive long distances (about 40km to work) and I came across the following offer:http://suchen.mobile.de/fahrzeug/showDetails.html?id=163653073 What do you say about this? Is the price realistic? Does the timing belt count for the 90,000 inspection? Does anything else affect you (positive/negative)? The machine should be great after what I read! Thanks for your help!
