1. XC90 failure (engine)
Hi! So far after half a year and 16,000 km he has done quite well, except for minor defects (radio, door lock -> after 2 workshop stays with a new car but still annoyingly), but that he no longer accepted gas today is not really gratifying. Unfortunately the top speed was only about 30 km/h. Especially since he was in the workshop until yesterday (also because of the message “motor system maintenance required”. And unfortunately the whole was also 150 km away from his carport. The man of Volvo arrived after only three quarters of an hour, but… – he wanted us to be towed to a workshop even further away from our place of residence. There we would have had a rental car, but had to bring it back by ourselves after the repair 🙁 (unfortunately, however, we can not follow our schedule according to our car, and sometimes quickly 3 hours “drive through the area” – in the closer workshop we were not allowed to go The whole thing was done so that after a few blows (whereever) and after five minutes of “sampling” he decided that he wanted to spend his weekend at home and everything worked again as before! Tomorrow he is allowed to become a friendly again, let’s see what turns out then….

XC90 Performance increase with simultaneous consumption reduction – free of charge!
Yes, incredible, but true! After this performance cure, which certainly brings 10 hp and almost 2 liters of lower consumption to 100 km, I was completely convinced. And that without changing anything at the electronics, software or mechanics. Also, you don’t have to register the performance increase. The passage on the highway has become noticeably better; the consumption even at higher speeds (160+) makes my stock market laugh. So what does this “miracle” accomplish? .. . .. … Just times the air conditioning be i turn off suitable outside temperatures and use only the blower. You will be surprised…

V70 D5 – 1001 noises
Hello together, for about half a year now I drive my V70 D5, since the about 20,000 km. I am also very satisfied with a few small things like the 1001 noises that occur again and again: 1) as already discussed several times here, the “snapping” of the LS at the back right. Here it seems to be discussed about … 2) What is even worse, at the front left of the A-pillar starts the moose at irregular intervals, regardless of the speed and D The sound is hard to describe, asl when plastic rubs on glass. The parking ticket clip is definitely NOT , I have already taped it off! The noise suddenly appears and silently reappears just as suddenly, but annoyed immensely. You can’t find it acuh where you start knocking, shaking or holding parts. Who knows this noise and where it comes from? 3) A metallic “rattle” “snapping” under the moose, at the beh to be heard at 1800 – 2000 rpm in 3rd gear with open windows. Does it sound like looping a chain or something on the floor or even like the sound as if something is getting in bicycle spokes during the ride. The noise only occurs when accelerating at certain speeds, when taking the foot off the gas it is again away. Who knows this noise and where it comes from? Maybe someone knows these sounds and also knows solutions? Thanks & Greeting Jan

S60 purchase advice desired!
Hello dear Volvo municipality After having had 2 times bitter experiences with BMW now and the used car market is dominated for a standard mortal affordable area of ridden carts I came across Volvo, I am already enthusiastic about no autoscout offer I have read “seeker gutte zushtant” or other nonsense, on the contrary very many checkbook maintained and few kilometers. Nevertheless, to Volvo I find not so much information, a few basic Questions: Is the S60 2.4 petrol engine well-powered with 170 hp? My earlier 323i also had a 2.5 machine and went well. Is the series susceptible to childhood diseases? Quality of workmanship inside and outside? I found this model specifically: http://www.autoscout24.at/Details.aspx?id=243125542&asrc=st What do you say? mfg

Stand heating does not heat the interior
Hello, I have a question here. Some things have already been reported about the topic, but I did not find a suitable answer to my request. So here’s my problem: the heater with timer is placed – this jumps punctually and also heats the engine as it should be – but now it would have to switch to the interior, but then it shuts down. I still get crazy with the part. With my friend I was scho. He doctored the software, but without any result. I’m supposed to test it at home – result – as described above. The friendly one means if it’s not possible, then I have to reckon with about 500 EUR for the rep. I would be happy if someone could explain how this behaves. Oh so: I have an XC70 , Mod. 2005

Handbrake problem again.
Hello Volvo Community, this thread has probably been performed several times, but I wanted an update of the whole. My Volvo s 60, like the Mesiten, has been regularly maintained at Volvo. After months of strange thought that while pulling the handbrake, the car first rolls back by 10 cm, until the braking effect starts, looked around me here in the forum. After the terrifying reports about blocked hind wheels opening, I wanted there After all, drive regularly over 200 on the AB and if a wheel would block, ……… there is cold sweat running on my mind alone. So, just get feedback from the friendly: All documents loose, disks rolled in from the inside, mechanics also have to be replaced! Cost point about 700!!! So slowly I don’t think it’s funny. I’m glad that I reacted “in time”, but the check of the hand brake is not in any maintenance place. And that I now have to pay all the secbers I find impudence! So my question to the community: Has someone complained about this with Volvo. Answer received? Why does Volvo not foresee the check of the handbrake? Only the replacement of the documents does not cost more than 100-150 euros. Much less than I have to pay now, which is also vieeeeeeel less in comparison to what could happen. In this sense I can only recommend to everyone quick to check in the workshop. I’d be happy to have any support.

Does anyone have experience with diesel on short distances?
Hello all, I am currently a driver of a 97 ́V40 T4 and super satisfied.I wanted to treat myself to something bigger (V70 ca Bj 2006).In the long run it becomes small after all.Since I drive only about 8000 km and a lot of short distance in the year, is now the following problem or rather the consideration gasoline or diesel? It should be either a 2.4l gasoline ,170hp with automatic, but is relatively rare and probably only the minimum of performance for this car.O the thought of a 2.5l diesel (D5,I think 179 hp) which of course also has more torque-would be the better choice from the driving pass??? But what does it look like with the diesel with short distances ?Do you get problems with the soot particle filter, turbo or,or….Not that I have a top engine then and the box is broken in 2 years. Apart from the short distance is generally not great – already clear. Next question. If I register today a used one from 2006 how we are the taxes then calculated, according to Kubik or after Co2 emissions? And how high are the taxes for both engine variants? Thank you very much, Nissi

Costs of marten damage
Dear Motor-TalkHe, in this thread I had asked for opinions on the “age state” of a V70. Now it becomes a bit more concrete after I had my brother-in-law have the car looked at (he lives in the corresponding city). A point that is still open is an unrepaired marten damage: the MArder has apparently caused a proper chaos in the insulation layer between the engine and passenger compartment (see picture). My question would now be with which costs to calculate for the repair I can’t figure out if it’s a few euros for the insulation material and a working hour, or if it’s something bigger. The info would be important to me so that I know how to negotiate with the seller/must. Oh yes, and still the question of what effects it has to continue with this damage without repair. Thanks for any information UL

Color choice XC 90 Lava sand / titanium / ruby red
I ordered an XC90 yesterday, but I’m not sure because of the color (have a few days before I have to set myself up). To choose from lava sand – ruby red – titanium grey The decision is not easy, because except titanium grey I did not get a color on the vehicle directly to face. Therefore, I am unsure how the colors look on the large lacquer surface. For example, if the lava sand fits well with the vehicle (like a similar color [Bonatti-Grey] good with the LR Di The question of re-saleability is also important. After what I have seen so far at XC 90, the orderers limit themselves to black, silver, titan. With my favorites titan should have the best re-saleability. But how are lava sand and rubin to estimate? I suppose lava should also address many interested parties. I have already looked at various autoscout / mobile pages but did not see lava sand or rubin. Who could help?
