A little elkology! My next elk should become an XC70 D5 or XC 90 D5. However, I hear (also from Volvo dealers) different horror stories about the consumption of the XC90 D5. It should consume minimum 12 to even 15 liters or higher. I’m surprised because my elk (V70 D5) consumes around 7 – 7.5 liters with a brisk driving mode. My wife even creates the unattainable 6.3 -6.5 liters brand for me. (130-140 Kmh) Since I’m not exactly a “defensive” driver, I think that an XC90 would be a true drunker for me. The XC 70 D5 should, according to dealer statements, consume quite “normal” as the V70 D5. (?) Maybe it’s an old topic, but I would still be interested in how high is the average consumption on long distances? Greeting Barna

Lexus RX 350 vs Volvo XC 90 and others
Invitation text: “On 25.3.2006 (…) you have the unique opportunity in your Lexus-Forum not only to test the new Lexus RX 350, but also his competitors, the BMW X 5, the Mercedes M-Class, the VW Touareg and the Volvo XC 90.” Today the nice telephone lady came to ask for my time request and told me that about an hour of testing time was planned. This invitation is not to be missed, and so I am curious whether Lexus is making serious progress and making comparable vehicles ready for testing or only basic engine with basic equipment against fully equipped Lexus. Should I pay attention to something special in comparison with the different vehicles? I will report at least at the beginning of the week. Greeting, Hagen

Rear camera feasible?
A question to the technically more experienced!! When I was browsing the last Conrad catalogue I noticed the many small and small cameras, which are fed with 12V. Would there be no way to build such a kind of clever (window, bumper oä) at the rear of the elk and to bring the image signal on a small TFT screen (which are already quite affordable)? I know that the RTI can not be used for this. For caravans and trucks there are ready sets with powerful cameras and tube screens(!) starting from 900 eurons upwards. Professionals please don’t laugh – I’m completely outside of the industry. lG Richard

XC 90 motorway
Hello, in currently Mercedes T-model driver and consider changing to the XC 90 D5. Can someone tell me how the XC 90 drives on the highway, mine now less the final speed, but track fidelity, or does it drive much more spongy than a normal car? And with the normal diesel, how are the inside noises on the highway? I am grateful for every information!

children sit safer in the back! really?
All of you, just picked up my daughter from the school. because it only goes through the village, the child (7 years) sat down on my hot front. at the traffic light there is of course a guard master next to me. lightning-like all the arguments went through the head, which would lower the price for the “presiding seats”. the ampel became green, nothing happened. the guard master turned to the left. puh, that went well again, I nehem, that he has not seen my daughter at all. here the arguments / goes of course only at volvo front sitting children (of course with child seat) not worse than behind. I explain: front is the airbag, behind not. front help WHIPS and SIPS out of need and prevent bad. how the systems work, I do not need to explain and the course the course of the belt is better than at the front. hoast also sees the front when the hollow is sitting behind.

S80 buy???? Ask for advice.
Hello in the round, we carry ourselves with the thought, as second car to buy a S80. Our favorite is a 2.9 switch Built 05/1999 – in the vehicle number stands “X” – which probably means according to the Internet unfortunately MJ 1999. He is first possession, 110TKM has down – is sheepbook-maintained – the old owner (Fast-Rentner) bought again a Volvo in the same car house. We would get in case of a purchase still the 120 thousand inspection, including control belt changes made and of course new TÜV received. Equipment is leather, HU601, Tel., RTI navigation and other frills, which is in all S80. What do we have to consider? We have read on the Internet that there have been calls back actions because of some ball joints and here with you I have just read of a RR action for splashers. Alternatively we could be for a 2001 C70 switch (Leder/RTI Navi) enthusiasts – but also interesting; so far we drive an all-wheeler, the New should be a Volvo – for example?

Can you sue your car?
I would like to sue my car for bad rendition(?) or slander(?)! The reason for this is the fact that today was already the 2nd morning, where I turned on my radio and WDR4 was displayed at station 6 although BFBS is programmed here (if I press 6 BFBS also appears)! Should one time use another person than I in the morning my car as 1., this will turn on the radio and WDR4 appears, could a completely wrong picture of my person be conveyed!!! This condition is unbearable for me! Who, the attorney represented here, can tell me if a lawsuit would have a chance of success? Greeting Martin Der wonders if he is too young for the car or too old for his music???

Geartronic stinks…
Yesterday, with a relatively cold engine/gear, I had to stop at a steep driveway (about 25-30° incl.?). After a short stop I got up the remaining 10 meters quite well, the transducer sounded a bit tormented, but hardly anything to feel about starting weakness! Even the loose stones did not cause any problems thanks to AWD. At the top of the car, a stabbing smell that could not be immediately removed even by the immediate opening of all windows. M.M. after that, it could only have been the Geartronic or the transducer bridge coupling!? My question: Can such an action leave lasting damage?

Touareg R5, Nissan Pathfinder and XC90 D5 in the test
In the current May issue, “AutoBild Allrad” has a diesel comparison test between Touareg, Pathfinder and XC90. Without a terrain classification, the XC90 lands just behind the Touareg in front of the Nissan. With terrain classification, the XC90 becomes the last. Especially with the new Pathfinder, one has to acknowledge that Nissan has built a quite variable car at a great price (6,000 euros under Touareg and Volvo), which has proper terrain technology and is also available with 7 seats (and rear camera !). And that our elk can’t be a bad-way specialist without a gear transmission, we still like it. Rolo supplement: Here is the test – also the picture gallery (39 pictures) is interesting:http://www.autobild.de/…/article.php?…

2 new tyres/ front or rear?
Hello, the tyre dealer just bolted my summer bikes back on the car. Because the two tyres at the front were at the end (2.5mm) he pulled two new tyres on me. Luckily not Pirelli’s anymore but Conti’s. What I’m surprised about now, he screwed the wheels with the new tyres on the rear axle. I would probably have done that exactly the other way around. How do you see that? Matthias P.S.: The other tyres still have about 6mm in front: Pirelli 6mm in the back Conti new
