  • Warning flasher

For a long time I believed that the technology of the Volvo – compared to other premium brands – is rather traditional. However, I have my doubts recently. Until then, the full clapping of the Blinkrelais reminded me of the ride in the VW-Käfer about 20 years ago. The Klack Klack Klack has always been like this, is like this today and will always be like this at Volvo. I thought. Until I first activated the warning flasher and immediately missed this sound. Was the flasher broken? Was the relay contact broken. But a gang around the car showed that everything was flashing and everything was fine. Only the full clapping of the Blinkrelais was missing completely. Since then I can imagine that Volvo is only faking the tradition. The cracking sound of the Blinker is synthetic and virtual and is probably only generated by a microprocessor-controlled sound system when the Blinklebel is activated. Fortunately, the development engineers forgot to integrate the Blinklebster into this system. the fact that the Volvo’s technology is in line with the state of the art that other vehicles will only reach in twenty years’ time – if at all. Or is there another reason why the warning flasher doesn’t crack?

  • V70r

Hello! I’m new to the engine talk and have a question about the current V70R. Who has already gained experience with it and can write me something about it: engine, drive, reliability, but also vulnerabilities ect. Drive at the moment a Saab 9-5 Aero with 280 HP year ’03 and consider now to add me a new, still last (before model change) Volvo V70R with 6-speed automatic… So, thank you in advance for your information!!

  • Does there exist a vehicle history that can be viewed by any Volvo dealer??

Hello, my neighbor wants to buy a used XC 90. The car is located in Karlsruhe at a large Volvo dealer. My neighbor said that he probably has 8 branches in the city. I gave him the tip to get the chassis number of the vehicle given, in order to have the vehicle checked here in Chemnitz by the local Volvo dealer. The dealer in Karlsruhe gave him the number without hesitation. My neighbor called the local friend and asked if he could get into the data of the Fah rzeugs could look inside. Unfortunately, it was wrong. According to the dealer, that would not be possible. There is no central database. Then my neighbor had called the dealer in KA. He gave the same information. He could only access the database of the dealership, and said that the vehicle has never been to their workshop. I know from VW and Mercedes that there is a database with which every dealer can access to see what is with the car. Should Volvo be able to look inside. in this view be an exception? Maybe one of you has a good tip? Should I really be surprised if Volvo didn’t have such a thing. After all, you have to be able to check what has already been done on the car (software updates etc.) Would be nice if someone could give an answer to the quick one. My neighbor drives to KA tomorrow to do a test drive. Thank you for your help!

  • Dammit, engine compartment insulation is eaten up.

Meal. I just replenished washing water and saw that some little animal had my insulation mat snapped in the engine room. Does anyone know how expensive it is to replace it (or has someone already had it done and knows about a price)? Do aggregates/wires have to be removed, because the mat has holes? Do not want to pay a lot of wages at all, so that such a thumpy foam mat is exchanged. For hints I am grateful. Sorry for the sc Hilten images, is just a mobile phone camera. EDIT: Only one image, because uploading and linking here is somewhat uncomfortable.

  • V70: Extreme Track Problems with Fulda Winter Tires

Hi, I and my Monday car have a new problem: Since I have Fulda winter tires (205/55 R16 91T FULDA MONTERO) on my car, the car pulls extremely to the right. Without holding the steering wheel it is not possible to drive straight out 50m. The tires are on the original Vovlo steel rim. Volvo has roughly checked the track at the front (not measured) and it will probably lie on the tires. The summer tires did not have this prob lem. Since the tires are depending on the direction of the running, one can I have also heard that the V70 has a “problematic” chassis. I to the tyre dealer: (I bought the new original sealed tires at Ebay. The tyre dealer pulled the purchase of Alufelfen on the steel fields in the summer.) They came up with the idea that the tires from the front to the left would change from right to left for a test. This is why Volvo didn’t come up with it, or they didn’t want it?). Result: Car still pulls to the right. Tyre dealers: The tyres are 99,999% OK, because it’s very untrue that 2 out of 4 tyres have a Macke. They then made an electronic axle measurement and determined that the chassis was totally adjusted (back axle). The car is only 20 months old with 25000km. They have set it all. Ergebis: Car still pulls to the right. grrr rr! Statement from tyre dealers: Vovlo has a “very sensitive chassis”. I went back to Volvo. My thoughts: We can test new winter tyres from us and then see instead of that have made another axle measurement at Volvo. Result: The chassis was “totally set”. (how strange???). After a test drive quickly shows up: It still goes to the right. TOL!!! What should I do now? Suspension set correctly (according to Volvo). Winter tyres OK were also in the test m The winter tyre is different from that of Volvo. In my circle of acquaintance is a tyre salesman who tells me the following: 1. Vovlo has a shitty chassis (very critical to adjust, everything is very “soft” and “labbery” 2. The Fulda winter tyre is very soft, which is good for the winter, but bad for “critical chassis” because the tire keeps the vehicle in the lane. 3. The ones of Volvo winter tyres (Conti, Pirelli) are harder. 4. Buy no Volvo, have only annoyed with…. well great… Question: Who has similar experience, or possibly the creepy tires? Thanks for the help. Marko

  • Future Volvo engines and the XC90

Dear Volvo friends, I have just stumbled on an article in which Volvo CEO Stefan Jacoby talks about future engine and model policy (for the first time only in English):http://www.warwickdailynews.com.au/…/ The XC90 II, which is to be published in 2014 and is to be based on the new “Scalable Platform Architecture (SPA)” which will be used for other vehicles as well. If I understand the article correctly, this platform is only for ma ximal 4 cylinders (of course with turbo and depending on the design also with electric hybrid assistances) designed. 5, 6 and 8 cylinders are completely abolished, in the foreseeable future; spoken here is decidedly of 4- (and below 3, possibly even 2-) cylinders with charging and electrical support, which should also cover the power range up to 300hp. So who still wants a car with more cylinders: soon buy and drive long ..;-)

  • Dropped hose from the turbo, can I still drive to the friendly one?

Yesterday at my XC90 D5 BJ 03/2010 with approx. 48000 km the hose jumped off from the turbocharger. I guess at least. As I read here an “old problem” of this engine. It happened yesterday when I drove up the steep mountain behind my house. So I was up it sounded on the left side at the ventilation nozzle as if suddenly from there a lot of air would come out (but it is not). It is immediately the message: “motor maintenance urgently necessary” com I don’t know if I still have performance, because I just turned around and drove down to my house. Since I don’t want to have the car to be towed (it takes too long) I want to “duck” to my friend. He’s about 35 km away. What do you think, can I risk the ride? LG mkk73

  • alternator itself repaired (instead of 900€ – only 30€ !!!!!!!!!)

Would like to report something. My S80 2,9l, EZ 2000, 184 tkm., at once wont start any more, reported “voltage too low”, ADAC camem after 40 min., – battery lesson – Limo gives no current – onboard voltage only 11V – drive too dangerous (from 10V off engine) – towed. Volvo says – soda broken and battery almost dead – soda new for 900€ plus battery. I ask – only the controller is broken? Volvo – can be, but if already, then better replace whole soda, who knows how the shaft outsie ht, for new controller 500€. No, not with me. Controllers increased for 30€, approx. 2pcs. work in the garage – and now the on-board voltage 14V. Since 2 tkm. is driven, battery still lives, the controller also. Oh yes, Volvo has collected for diagnosis 50€ (I could save that). Conclusion: who dares not – who pays.

  • XC90 – clutch fatal damage at 46Tkm = 1,800€

After a good 46,000Km and 2 years and 4 months we had now a clutch stotala damage on our XC90D5 (7p./switch): Automat/Disc + Fly Mass had to be changed. The surface on the drive side of the disc was simply gone and had also affected the fly mass: total cost approx.2.200€, of which generously there was 20% culant…. We are sure occasionally with a small trailer on the way (about 800kg GG), but after 46Tkm the clutch blank ??? My old he Audi80(B4 Avant) has held 250Tkm with a clutch and pulled this trailer often! VAG also answered only blabla on my request for a more generous bulwark regulation (I thought of 50%) – clutch would be a wear part – just bad luck! Balloni

  • Power V70 too low?

Hello, I bought a 2.4 V70 (S) with 125 KW and I am a bit disappointed with the acceleration performance. Somehow I have the feeling that it does not come out of the cross. I had previously driven an A3 with only 125hp. There has been a lot more movement. Sure, it is lighter, but the V70 has almost 180hp. I’m really not a fast driver, but when driving off at the traffic light a same small car often hangs off 🙁 Can this be due to the engine adjustment (is everything e Lktronisch)? On a defective, because scraping cat/outpuff (only at 2,000 revolutions)? Does a chip tuning bring what? Or is such a V70 just so lame due to its weight? First registration 02.10.00 Thanks for your answers Peter
