  • STC -> Upgrade DSTC? (again)

Hello, now I bought it yesterday, the V70-II (8/2001). However, he only has STC, if you believe the switch in the interior. (According to the manual, the “DSTC” would have to display.) Now, of course, I would like ESP, i.e. DSTC, for security reasons. The search in the net and in the forum on conversion was “relative” without results, there were only the statements here in the forum that it probably was not economically useful, since no pure software update. But: Has anyone asked about you in concrete terms? Is it possible at all? And what amount do we talk about? Thanks for Input, Gerhard.

  • Tailgate lock–I need your advice

Good evening together, since March a Volvo V70 2.4L gasoline drive and so far very satisfied with the car. Apart from a few small things, he spared us with bigger defects so far. The problems were solved by the car dealership on guarantee and that without discussion-very pleasant as I find it. Last week our third brake lamp failed, we got a new rear flap cable tree and since that worked everything again. Until tonight:-( I wanted to drop the trunk flap into the lock, but it refused stubbornly. The car was open and the rear flap lock was closed. Of course there was no one left in the car dealership. So the Adac had to hit and he found a small spring that blocked the locking mechanism. The thing was removed and the lock is again doing its work-it closes;-) I wonder now where this feather comes from and which function the feather has in the rear flap to look at? If I open the flap now or close it is always heard behind the panel – I could present it to me, which is still something that I wanted to fold around?

  • Volvo S60 R AWD, 2005 compared to MB S55 AMG

We had bought the car with about 36’000 km. Pure to driving is the car class, has a lot of steam, comfort and is visually appealing. However, the maintenance is extremely expensive and there are many soon expensive repairs on: with only 100,000km of crossbars in front, wheel bearings in the rear, in heavy rain there was a deafening whistle of unknown origin and the parking sensors in the rear failed their service. The outer shell of the exhaust pan peeled off, the blinker went only sporadically and although we did not particularly strain the car in any way the leather seats showed strong wear off and when side cushioning the backrest on the driver side had burst open the seam. It happened 5-6 times that the car didn’t make any mucks when you wanted to start it. Software errors hit it every time, cause is unknown. Since I can’t afford it like most of the old people can’t even get better at work 5-6 times a year ago, we sold the car wutent and bought us a Mercedes S55 AMG. Well, the car has been more amazingly easier than that car, but it’s maintenance has never been more expensive.

  • I sach ma….

Hello and have a few questions at once. But first of all introduce. Alllsoooo: My name is Robby. (No nickname. This is really in the ID card and as a child I always thought: “When I am tall, I get a real adult name.”…) So far I have been on the V40/S40 Forum. Since last Sunday I am proud owner of a “real” Volvo. Now I finally have my dream Volvo. a V70 II. But now to my questions. In the operating instructions it says that in the license plate lighting sofitten, you write it so?, with socket C5W. After disassembly I found out, however, that they are glass socket lamps. So. Now I don’t know which socket that is. The printed stuff is gone. Are these now with socket WY5W or W5W? reason for the look, then I want to upgrade to LED, which I have already made good experiences. In addition, I am interested in whether it is possible, or always the so-called comfort binblink.

  • Rain sensor – is retrofitting worth it ?

Hello, for a few weeks have a used S80 (BJ 1999) with a great equipment. Only the rain sensor is missing. From my last rental car I was very spoiled by the comfort of an existing rain sensor (except for the rain sensor in the Renault, which was scrap), in the current weather situation (continuously changing light precipitation) you have to constantly huddle without rain sensor at the windscreen wiper. Especially during long highway rides this is annoying. Therefore my question: how well does the rain sensor work ? – is it worth retrofitting (is that at all ?) ?

  • Your Volvo XC90 (2002 to today)

The magazine “AUTO TEST” will soon publish a second-hand car purchase consultation on the Volvo XC90 (2002 to today) and will also use the experience of the MOTOR-TALK users who drive such a car. If you would like to participate in this, I would ask you to answer the following short questions in this topic: 1. Your Volvo XC90 (2002 to today): Year of construction, model and motorization? 2. How many kilometers did you drive with it and what proportion does urban traffic have? 3. Number of required workshop stays/costs: too low, appropriate or too high? 4. Do you particularly like the Volvo XC90 (2002 to today) …? 5. Do you particularly resent the Volvo XC90 (2002 to today) …? 6. Would you buy the Volvo XC90 (2002 to today) again? I am happy if one or the other takes part. Please don’t write too much, short quotes have the chance to be published (at least if they are representative).

  • Reviews XC70 D5, 2005, 136 kW searched

Hello! After some comparison rides with other XC70 / V70 and S60 models I notice that my own XC70 D5, 2005, 136 kW in the interior is very loud, roars like a leaky exhaust (but that’s definitely fine), the acceleration (11 sec and more to 100, problems with overtaking in the range around 100-120 kmh..) not intoxicating, very long starting time, until 2000 rpm it lasts miserable long, then finally comes the “Schub”, but soon after that is gone and from 3000 rpm only ends in volume, and not least an enormous consumption of not under 8.5 liters diesel on motorway rides, in normal day use was the peak value 10.0 liters on 100 km (!). S60 and V70 drivers (all with the 185 hp D5er), who have made a test ride with my car, were each of the opinion that “there would be something not fit”. Also my ride with a S60 and a V70 have clearly shown that the behaviour of the vehicles is quite different, as yourstance is to take note of the order of the X70, how you have seen your fault.
