Why do I havePlöde seats in the XC90? Who has problems with the position of the headrests in his Volvo, especially XC90, but also other models? My problem is that I always put the backrest very upright (almost 90°), and the new seats from MY 05 have a headrest directed further towards the driver. Due to this arrangement of the headrest you have no room for movement to the rear. In a rear impact this will have advantages, unfortunately it is more of a disadvantage in daily use, since I have been suffering from tension in the neck since I drove XC90 MY 05, which is already outside of “goes” or “will already lie down” Who has similar problems and already got a solution from Volvo or his friend?

higher fuel consumption at 225er ?
Hello Volvogemeinde, I’m about to order a new V70. I’m not sure yet which tyre size I should take. Now my question: Normal are 215/55/16. But I’m playing with the idea of ordering the car with 225/45/17. Does this increase the consumption and is the wear in the 45s higher? Has someone already had experiences with it? Please for information. Greeting Clausen

Simple Question N° 2 – System Clock and Summer Time
I admit that I’ve been carrying this question with me for a long time, because summer time has been active for a few days… but it’s the very simple questions that ask the biggest puzzles of the universe: On the one hand, there is a HU-850 sound system with RDS in the car. As is well known, the time is included with RDS-EON… on the other hand, there is the RTI with an atomicly accurate satellite… here again, time information is included in the signals. With a little bit of input from a time zone table and further information, when now someone would change to summer time… So, in theory, it’s a trivial problem; in this case, the word problem seems pointlessly exaggerated – it’s more a challenge or at least a task; to get the time to get information into the car… So why do I have to repeat the built-in clock twice every year with a pen around one or 23 hours?

AUDI A6 2.5 TDI or VOLVO V70 D5
Hello municipality I am looking for your advice. At the moment I drive an A4 Avant 2.0 petrol engine and would like to enlarge. I would like the A6 Avant 2.5 diesel engine (from 2004 onwards), which one reads about the qualities and the maintenance costs of the engine does not sound so intoxicating. An alternative would be for me the Volvo V70 D5 also from 2004 onwards. Did someone ever have the possibility of a direct comparison ? Unfortunately both have not driven yet. Of the power of the engine are both equally think the equipment is better at the Audi In advance Thanks for the answers Patrick

Flutters from the trunk
My S60 MY04 has been having the following problem for a few weeks now. If I’m driving with Tempo80 or higher on a federal road or highway, I always hear a kind of “flatten” out of the trunk. (or behind the back seat) It sounds to describe it more precisely, like a sheet of paper, which is blown up and then gives a kind of “flat” sound of itself… only I actually have nothing in the trunk. All windows are closed – only the climate. Do you have any idea what can be there? I already get on my nerves – hopefully there is nothing broken. Thank you already in advance for the information 🙂 merci, PinocchioS60 PS: the elk now has about 38000km down.

XC70 just ordered!!!
Hello together, I just ordered a new XC 70 (still in time for the price increase:-) And that’s: XC70 D5 185 PS summum (have much to and fro) manual gearbox saphierblack-metallic glass sliding roof RTI integrated phone side panes darkened switchable airbag front passenger side smoker package speed-dependent power steering What else is missing: trailer clutch winter wheels 4-c I saved myself, because during the test drive the XC did not “waggle like a cow ash” as written. Compared to my current car I could not see any negative sides on the chassis. Well, as satisfied as our BMW with sports suspension it is not on the road, but that is also another category of car. The BMW stuck last week in a snowweed and can only be “removed” with a trecker. I hope that I can play the trecker in the future:-) But I also have questions to you. How does it look like with the average consumption of fuel for my winter time?

XC90 with Navi or not?
Hello together, after a V40 and now a V70 I would like to order a new XC90 on Thursday. As far as motorization, color etc. I have set myself so far, the only problem is – do I now order the Navi with or not ? I actually know the majority of the travelled routes, on the other hand I wonder if it is not “standard” to equip a vehicle of this (price) class also with such a system, also with regard to a later resale value ? Often enough actually in case of cases also a mobile navigation system like tomtom & Co. How did you handle any tips and opinions ? Am there at the moment quite undecided …. Many greetings Marco

Zero decision
Hello dear MT’ler You have helped me a lot in my search for the ideal motorization. Now I liked a decision. This has become a zero decision, that is I buy my today’s A6 from the leasing and wait until the manufacturers have improved quality and ergonomics. I had tested some vehicles (request combi, automat and 4×4): Mercedes E class combi: Lausige seats, Navi not adjustable according to my requirements, high price Audi A6: massively longer and wider than today’s, no more space, design fittings deteriorated, MMI not user-friendly, too many knobs and snaps. VW Passat 3.2 4 Motion: Interesting price with good equipment, oldt Navi (DVD terribly lame), and it’s just a VW 😉 Volvo V70, XC70, XC90: consistently rather outdated motorization or outdated combination with GT, best seat in the V70 (sports seat). Therefore, I have to see more of the navigation system at the border, in the XC90 Fata Morgana image on the windshield. Air conditioning is not comparable with Audi, built over the forum with little fun.

Oil consumption D5 163 PS
For decades I checked the oil level regularly with every car.Now with my V70 with a service interval of 20,000km I thought that the inspection was no longer necessary. Modern engine, corresponding control information of the on-board computer etc. Yesterday I was with my dealer (new German “friendly” for my additional heating (makes noises) and an upgrade of the telephone SW. With a friendly smile I was informed that my oil level had to be brought to normal level with well one litre (10,000 km after the last inspection) and I should please check it regularly. Now it comes. There is no warning indicator when the minimum value is reached. Only with the new engine version has been installed. But only because one has had bad experiences. Drivers who have “heated” somewhat sharper after 3000 – 4000 km have already been rewarded with empty oil tank or engine damage. There is sufficient experience from Volvo that this engine is a good oil consumer. What do you know about it, or am I so blue-eyed?

V70 D5 Turbo hose (again a review)
Hello, now I can confirm it from my own experience: V70 D5, Bj 10/2001, approx. 75,000 km On a longer nightly motorway stage (Tempomat at approx. 180 km/h) a slightly hissing sound starts slowly. Disappears while taking the gas, well audible when accelerating or uphill. Perhaps some power loss (caviously noticeable). On a longer uphill track, speed already reduced anyway, display suddenly shows “motor maintenance required”. g over the mountain (just before midnight, still more than 100 km to sleep home, wife and baby) just don’t stay there now… error message disappears again, we come home well. Fortunately, because 1..2 hours baby screaming at night waiting for the breakdown service I could have really needed 😉 The next day in the friendly workshop. No discussion, turbo hose is immediately exchanged in Kulanz “yes, we know that already”. My tip to all with the same M odell (with the newer D5 starting about 2003 (?) the improved turbo hose should be mounted immediately from the factory): Before a larger journey let the hose be replaced better already precautionally… LG Helmut
