  • Advice on the purchase of a used XC90 (up to 20,000 €)

Hello Volvo community, I’ve always been driving VW/Audi and I might be thinking about buying an XC90 D5 instead of a used Touareg R5. However, since I’m totally inexperienced with Volvo, it would be nice if you would give me a few tips on what I have to pay attention to. Due to the price frame of about 20000 Euros (i.e. nix with MJ2006 and 185PS) the following vehicle will become (as clues) an XC90 D5 with 163hp and a mileage between 80000-140000 km MJ 2004/2005 with leather, Navi, Xenon What do you have to pay attention to, what problems the XC90 has at this age/running performance Thank you for your support … goose

  • Gas pump?

Good morning to all of you???….not quite…and that’s it: I’ve been driving V70 Bj 2000 on LPG for 70,000 km. Since about 30,000 also with the engine warning light. Error memory says misignition cylinder 2. Well, it’s not my real problem at the moment. For 2 days it doesn’t start on petrol anymore. If I let it start with the emergency start procedure on gas it’s no problem, but not on petrol. I tried to switch to petrol during the ride, but I already had the problem a few times that he doesn’t jump on me before work. But after work everything is OK again. And I already had the problem that he switched to petrol (if the gas has gone out) but just runs out after 3-6 km (by the way a very crappy feeling at 160 on full highway…). But after you finally stand on the stand strip, he jumps again without a problem. e on. After 3-6 km the same game. Until he can drive again on gas. But you can avoid the problem in which you do not drive the gas tank empty. Well and for 2 days he does not start at all on petrol. Father-in-law means petrol pump, because you can not hear it when you turn on the ignition. Incidentally, I also read here that the 2000 petroler tends to fail the petrol pump. Securing fuel pump is still quite. Or what else could it be? Where is the fuel pump located? n the petrol pump, that you can test this even today with the father-in-law on the hole? And someone already knows how much it costs? Aus- und Einbau will not be so difficult, right? Thanks for your help already in advance. And nice Sunday still.

  • V70 Bj2003 – Usable tyre sizes

Hello, have already collected some information from the net, but can not find any binding information so far. Therefore, please contact us. Question: Where does it say, which tire sizes I can use besides in the car ticket on my V70, Bj end of 2003? Unfortunately, this is not in my operating instructions. In the car ticket is only 205/55 R16. But I would like to use my old 205/50 R16 on steel rims. Is this possible? Thanks for any input.

  • D5 Diesel tank How is that possible?

Hello guys, I already had a fuel supply problem for the fourth time in a short time. As soon as the diesel sinked at a certain level in the tank (board computer showed residual sprite for approx. 240 to 280km) the engine switched off with the message “motor maintenance required”. Tank felt and errors away. A diesel filter exchange did not bring any improvement. Why did it always happen at similar fuel level? I suspected pollution in the tank and removed the tank, but in the tank There was no dirt to see. I removed the diesel residue and cleaned the hoses on the tank with compressed air and renewed the diesel filter for the second time. Now it seems to be OK again. The tank splits into two halves. Does anyone know what principle the tank works according to? Where could I read it. thank you for your contributions

  • Tip to buy V70 D5 Built 9/2002

Hello together, short to my situation – driving enthusiastically, for almost 10 years, a 850 Kombi(Bj.1996), 144 hp, gasoline, with meanwhile 300,000 km. I bought the car in 1999 used with already 150,000 km (company car). The engine still runs great, but otherwise it cracks in all corners, cross-overs/joint shafts (x times exchanged), shock absorbers etc. make themselves already violently noticeable and the extras rise slowly (climate nail defective, seat heating defective etc.) whereby the Before the summer vacation I am thinking about buying (used) a V70 D5 – the test reports from the time (2002-2004) seem to confirm the usual reliability of Volvo. I just don’t know what it looks like with the used now after 6 years. I have seen an offer from a Volvo dealer on the internet, what interests me: V70 D5 Built 9/2002 163 PS 107000 km maintenance made at 100000 km switching gear With the 850er I drove mostly short distance during the week, with a diesel I have no experience. Now I need a few experience values: 1. Is the offer acceptable to some extent? 2. With a diesel (especially in winter) mostly short distance driving – do I get problems compared to the petroler? 3. What do I have to watch out for with the V70 D5 from this year of construction? I don’t have any detailed information about the V70 yet. First of all, I would be very grateful if you could give me a few hints that I can use to catch up with. Thank you Reiner

  • Used car search – realistic assessment

Hello, I’m new here and I haven’t dealt with the topic of used car purchase for a long time. I’m looking for a big station wagon for my wife and since I’m looking for something special, timeless and robust I came to the V70. Since our budget is quite scarce due to house conversion/renovation measures I’m looking for a vehicle between 4000-5000,- EUR. My question is, if it makes sense to buy an old Sweden from approx. year 2000 and what is there in this price class . My ideas would be: A vehicle without “maintenance jam” – definitely with timing belt change, i.e. approx. 160-200 tkm, gasoline with climate (and what else?). So far I had seen 5 Fzg., of which 2 test runs – at 2 there will be a test drive soon. (The first was actually quite OK, but the air conditioning did not work, the second I would leave my fingers of it because strange noises from the drive were noticeable). Both were just under 4000 EUR – so that I guess I’ll be looking at a V70 in class ~5000 EUR next. What do you think about that?

  • Connect HU 650 GROM to CD changer

In order to be able to use USB sticks with the HU 650 I ordered a Grom adapter from the company Car-tec-tronix and installed it immediately. (Connection to the 8-pin socket for CD changers) They assured me there that it should work uncomplicated…but: the HU does not offer me a CD changer. Does anyone know the problem? Can the friendly change this by software release and if yes, what costs such a thing??? Achso: V70, Bj 1/2007, HU 650 Thank you already in advance Cu Sasch

  • Combination instrument (DIM) defective

Hello together, after our instrument cluster (Volvo V70 II year 2002, 103KW, petrol) had failed again and again, I thought that the easiest (and cheapest) solution would be to exchange the part for a used one. First workshop: AI exchanged, no signal from the control unit, no solution in sight. Second workshop (Bosch): Everything checked – it must be the AI, but can only be “fished” by Volvo. Current statement Volvo: If the used part has not been reset, it can be in us I think this problem is known – maybe someone has an idea how to solve this problem? Thank you for your help! Greeting KoenigZucker

  • Poor advice at Volvo

Hello, I’ve been working on the Volvo XC 90 for about 1 year now and I’ve acquired knowledge from studying brochures and the Internet before ordering. That’s why I find it terrifying to find out what hairy “information” you get from some of the alleged professionals, the regularly trained friendly at Volvo: My question (although answer is already researching): Why is there this dark cover plate on the roof? Tailgate often caused paint damage due to falling ice on the roof. Truth: Because the antenna technology is installed under this hood. In order to ensure good reception, the plate is made of a special Bayer plastic and not painted. Also the delivery of the extras after the facelift (e.g. whether the new PDC at the front also contains the silver impact cover or this has to be ordered separately) could not be answered. ehr, many consultants just don’t seem to “love” their products. Incidentally, this is not only happening at one dealer but at several. In the Hamburg area it looks quite gloomy. In my experience, the best consultant in HH is a woman (Fa. Krull, Mrs. Holthausen). Does it look better outside Hamburg ?

  • Presentation – new XC70 driver from Vienna …

Hello and greetings from Vienna! We have recently our first Volvo – a 2006 XC70 D5 Momentum AWD Geartronic with approx. 100.000km, and therefore I would like to introduce myself briefly: I live with my wife and two rather larger dogs – Leonbergern – in beautiful Vienna. My first car was a Citroen GSA X3, built in 1983. After two rather colourless VW Golfs (II and III, 70 and 90 HP) my wife brought me back to Citroen – she brought me a BX 1 9TZD into the relationship – that was 1996 and from that time on there was always at least one Citroen in the household. Before the purchase of the Volvo we drove two C5 Breaks – a C5 I Break (2.0 HDI 90 X, built in 2003 ) and a C5 II Break (2.0 HDI 135 Exclusive, built in 2005). By the way, I am looking forward to the spring again, to be able to make the streets insecure with our “Goddess” (D-Special, 99 HP, built in 1973, Pallas-equipment …) – this is just hibernation. Since we have a Woc Henendhaus in remote forest location in the Lower Austrian Waldviertel (located on a forest path – with short but steep access), a four-wheeled vehicle has somehow pushed itself in the last years … Further criteria were a large and also above the “belt line” usable (so not coupé-like fashionable) trunk with not too high loading edge (because of the dogs with a total weight of 130kg as a passenger) and a not too commercial vehicle-like driving comfort … That’s why So now the XC70! In the last three weeks we have already driven about 900km and so far completely satisfied – compared to a Citroen the Volvo “feel” of course different … Also the all-wheel qualities in the snow and in the mud we were able to test extensively. The consumption (first tank filling) is currently already over 9 liters … However, of course with heavy testing of the all-wheel abilities etc. On the highway it should thus 0.5 to 1 liter more than our C 5 II Break consume at the same speed. Now I hope that all this was not too lengthy and I am looking forward to a lively exchange and many interesting posts here in the forum!
