  • XC90 with Navi or not?

Hello together, after a V40 and now a V70 I would like to order a new XC90 on Thursday. As far as motorization, color etc. I have set myself so far, the only problem is – do I now order the Navi with or not ? I actually know the majority of the travelled routes, on the other hand I wonder if it is not “standard” to equip a vehicle of this (price) class also with such a system, also with regard to a later resale value ? Often enough actually in case of cases also a mobile navigation system like tomtom & Co. How did you handle any tips and opinions ? Am there at the moment quite undecided …. Many greetings Marco

  • Zero decision

Hello dear MT’ler You have helped me a lot in my search for the ideal motorization. Now I liked a decision. This has become a zero decision, that is I buy my today’s A6 from the leasing and wait until the manufacturers have improved quality and ergonomics. I had tested some vehicles (request combi, automat and 4×4): Mercedes E class combi: Lausige seats, Navi not adjustable according to my requirements, high price Audi A6: massively longer and wider than today’s, no more space, design fittings deteriorated, MMI not user-friendly, too many knobs and snaps. VW Passat 3.2 4 Motion: Interesting price with good equipment, oldt Navi (DVD terribly lame), and it’s just a VW 😉 Volvo V70, XC70, XC90: consistently rather outdated motorization or outdated combination with GT, best seat in the V70 (sports seat). Therefore, I have to see more of the navigation system at the border, in the XC90 Fata Morgana image on the windshield. Air conditioning is not comparable with Audi, built over the forum with little fun.

  • Oil consumption D5 163 PS

For decades I checked the oil level regularly with every car.Now with my V70 with a service interval of 20,000km I thought that the inspection was no longer necessary. Modern engine, corresponding control information of the on-board computer etc. Yesterday I was with my dealer (new German “friendly” for my additional heating (makes noises) and an upgrade of the telephone SW. With a friendly smile I was informed that my oil level had to be brought to normal level with well one litre (10,000 km after the last inspection) and I should please check it regularly. Now it comes. There is no warning indicator when the minimum value is reached. Only with the new engine version has been installed. But only because one has had bad experiences. Drivers who have “heated” somewhat sharper after 3000 – 4000 km have already been rewarded with empty oil tank or engine damage. There is sufficient experience from Volvo that this engine is a good oil consumer. What do you know about it, or am I so blue-eyed?

  • V70 D5 Turbo hose (again a review)

Hello, now I can confirm it from my own experience: V70 D5, Bj 10/2001, approx. 75,000 km On a longer nightly motorway stage (Tempomat at approx. 180 km/h) a slightly hissing sound starts slowly. Disappears while taking the gas, well audible when accelerating or uphill. Perhaps some power loss (caviously noticeable). On a longer uphill track, speed already reduced anyway, display suddenly shows “motor maintenance required”. g over the mountain (just before midnight, still more than 100 km to sleep home, wife and baby) just don’t stay there now… error message disappears again, we come home well. Fortunately, because 1..2 hours baby screaming at night waiting for the breakdown service I could have really needed 😉 The next day in the friendly workshop. No discussion, turbo hose is immediately exchanged in Kulanz “yes, we know that already”. My tip to all with the same M odell (with the newer D5 starting about 2003 (?) the improved turbo hose should be mounted immediately from the factory): Before a larger journey let the hose be replaced better already precautionally… LG Helmut

  • Precision of BC – Treasures Again in Criticism

Hej people! The lack of accuracy of the on-board computer was often a criticism point. Especially it concerned the average consumption. By and large, I had to detect occasional deviations, but which remained within the frame (deviation +/-0.2 liters at most compared to manual calculation). In winter, of course, due to the auxiliary heating, no exact measurement by BC was possible. I would like to neglect this situation here. The subsequent refueling in connection with my “Ultimate test” I had to find horribly that the BC shows a difference of +0.7 to -0.4 compared to the hand calculation. I find that quite wrong! Now my question. What concrete experiences regarding the deviation BC/hand calculation could you find so far?

  • V70 II D5, 163 HP, cylinder head gasket defective? How to detect?

Hello Volvo community! Now it might have caught my V70 II D5, 163 HP (376ts KM): The car loses strongly on (short) AB drive coolant. Does it have to be the head seal or even a hair crack in/at the block? The car does not smoke white and does not have any mud deposits when I open the engine oil cover. There are also no puddles or the like under the car to recognize. Are there also other causes/damages than the described above? So Kopfd I have read about a CO test in the cooling liquid tank. Are there other ways to verify this? And if one of the two cases really happened, what would be useful to change/change everything next to ZR & WaPu? Thank you! LG, Max

  • Clutch or gearbox makes uneven cracking noises what now.

Hello, I have a question, I have an S60, 2,5T, first time 19.02.2007, with 200,000Km on the clock. Engine B5254T2, transmission is M56. Fin. YV1RS595272633219 My problem is that my Volvo makes cracking noises, in idle as when driving. The cracking is the loudest in the area between engine and transmission. The noises are unevenly moderate, clutch kicking will make cracking quieter, or not, and when I drive, sometimes quite away, then there again, sometimes very loud, sometimes quiet. Clutch has never been changed. I have drained the gear oil, and there are metal chips to be seen. (gear oil changed two years ago) without chips. How do you best proceed? What do you do when it is gear? I am happy about every answer. Greeting from Hamburg Jürgen

  • XC90 Used purchase / tip needed

Hello dear forum community, I’m looking for an XC90 for a good price / performance ratio. Now I’ve seen an offer, but ask me … is the price normal? A 12/06, 1st hand, 7-seater with 88,000 km for a good 23.000€. Strange is, Grantie possible +650€, but is a dealer. 4.5 hours driving time (one distance) want to be well thought out. For just to look a little bit far away! Or should you better buy in the vicinity if problems with the vehicle occur? A “about” comparison offer 02/06, 1st hand, 7-seater with 60,000 km for a good 28,000€ with the difference of almost 5,000€! My dealer on site is always something very expensive than others! What experiences did you have?

  • ENVIRONMENTAL OBJECTIVES at XC90 5d

Hello, I’m not a VOLVO driver, but I’m interested in his quirks: A good customer of mine has had an XC90 for 15 months. In Nov.06 he got it at 97 Tkm: engine damage. But the friendly ones of VOLVO from Cologne let their surprise run free: THE WHEN the FIRST MOTORSCHADEN of an XC90 D5 at all, they even wanted to have the machine picked up for further investigations in Sweden. But now the BEST: before four DAYS after another 14 TKM with the new MASCHINE: the next MOTOR dead, again at > 180 kmh on the highway. And again the same fairy tales: VOLVO can’t explain! Has anyone experienced something similar??

  • V70 – Wheels rotate through

When driving away in the first gear, the wheels often spin off. Even with snow-covered roads, I often get stuck. I’ve been in the workshop several times, the problem has not yet been resolved. Lt. Information from the workshop should be a flaw of the last v70 series. Who still has the problem and must I be satisfied with it?
