  • XC90 Purchase decision V8 vs. 3.2

Maybe someone has interesting information for me, which makes it easier for me to make the decision: I have 2 offers that come into question for me: – V8 Executive, 02/05, 80.000km for 39.900 – 3.2 Sport, 12/06, 18,000km for 56.900 incl. Navi, GSM, standing heating, sunroof,… the prices are from the Austrian market (nova, etc.), therefore slightly higher than in Germany. nevertheless I do not understand the big difference between V8 and 3.2 completely. since I have to grip almost to the V8, because the favorable price compensates the higher maintenance costs by far. or do I look at what? what does it look like with the expected maintenance costs for the V8 in the next 4 years? I drive about 15,000km/year. are there rough repairs between 80,000 and 140,000km to expect? someone has experience with the difference in realistic petrol consumption between V8 and 3.2? I mostly drive in the rural small town area and around the big city – rather little thanks for your help.

  • Self-heating Power

Hello Elchfans, what about the performance of your auxiliary heaters. With me it looks like with frozen windows all around: – 5°C Outside temperature without sun exposure – Running time 30min – Position heating regulator 26°C Result: – Cooling water temperature first beam – quite low? – Front disc free – Side discs front two holes with approx.15cm diameter – Everything is tight at the back – Interior temperature pleasant Is everything in the frame or can I let them up in the power??? Given the nevertheless high noise level I had expected more power. Is my first floor heating, therefore I have no experience and do not want to make myself a dep when friendly. Thanks for every hint or observation. Greetings from the “Ar…kaltem” Schwabenland Pasmo

  • I’ll introduce myself.

Hello everyone I’ve only recently been in the Volvo forums and would like to introduce myself briefly: I live in Switzerland, am Italian and born in Spain (quite confused, isn’t it?). Since 2/2005 I drive a beautiful V50 T5 AWD summum with all the frills. In December I get my wife our 3rd child (previously still twins in 10/2006 put in the world) and because of the offspring I looked around for ‘nm Dickelch. On 3.11.2007 it’s time: our XC90 D5 Executive (Geartronic) we are allowed to pick up at the dealer! Pictures will follow immediately. Until then you have to settle down with a picture of our current little elk. So see you soon! fG nuudle

  • Soon will be ordered / Detailragen

Hello! In the spring I return to the realm of elk and have a few more detailed questions; this time an XC90 is ordered. Since the dealer, with whom I have bought the Volvos so far no longer exists, I had to look for another dealer; 70 country road kilometers journey and the fact that he is only half a year Volvo dealer, of course I tempt to ask my questions in the forum. I have the following questions: – what distinguishes the option “day driving light”; already I have always left the light switch on, what is the difference? – do I quite assume that the “tire repair kit” does not include the spare wheel and instead a hollow remains in the trunk? – colorically I have set myself (regardfully safe) on “shadow blue”; I have some doubts about the interior design. Currently I tend to beige with beige leather seats, alternatively there is anthracite interior design with calcite cream leather in the room, but I would have to be grateful for it.

  • XC 90 rear wheel blocked to the right

Hello, this week, after only 74,000 kilometers and just under four years now also with my XC90, the “hand brake coating waste problem” probably built in by the manufacturer came to bear. Wheel blocks at low speed – fortunately for me. So off to the friendly one. At the back right both coverings replaced – left side also a covering fell off or lay loose in the brake drum. This is not normal. And with the much-acclaimed safety of Volvo cars this has nothing to do with. With wear this is also not greenable for me. So slowly I really doubt about the quality of Volvo. Now I have almost all the errors already installed by the factory about me – wheel bearing 2x/angle gear 2x and many other small things. Since now this year would be due again a new car, I am really hard to think about, with the required quality and reliability of my current Volvo, whether it should become another vehicle of this manufacturer. I first wrote Volvo.

  • TFT Headrest Monitors for Volvo

Hiya people, what do you think about it…….the following Ebay-Link is really the hammer….bay 79€ for a headrest with monitor……is already a hammer price…..there you can well and gladly put one or two back, if one goes over the Wupper….If I compare the monitors with those of Bluepower from Sweden, then they look identical…….eventually same production and bluepower stick only their logo in……….or good replica with poor quality???BluePower What do you think about it???? Since the bay dealer is near me, I will just look at the monitors real and test them…. Greetings Percy

  • Which tyres at delivery?

Hello together, I expect the delivery of my XC90 in November. Does anyone know if the vehicles are delivered with summer, winter or year-round tyres?

  • DSTC Sensitivity/Response

Hello, I would like to know how quickly or when the DSTC system intervenes with you for the sake of interest?! In the case of spinning wheels when starting or speeding up, the TRACTION KONTROLLE intervenes and the yellow lamp light in the dashboard. So far so good… When I was stuck in the snow and both(!) wheels went crazy, nothing happened. The traction control distributes the force only on the wheel with more “grip”, but then the MOTORELEKTRONIK doesn’t have to adjust the engine speed? When does this happen??? To test the functioning of the ESP, I “forced” a hit (in a parking lot). The yellow lamp lit up NIE and I didn’t have the feeling that a system intervened. How is that with you? Is the operation of the ESP checked in the workshop about the diagnostics?

  • “Long-term experience” with Goodyear F1-asymm. on R,T5,…?

Has anyone had experience over at least 15t km with the new Goodyear F1 asymm. in 235/40-18″ Y, preferably on S60/V70-R or T5? Was it quite enthusiastic about the already during the test, and soon my R should be rehearsed again…? Am the F1 last also driven on’m M3 of a buddy (comparison to Pirelli Pzero Rosso asymm., which I currently also ride on’m R…) and that’s also a hit! The M3 is almost only moving with squeezing rubber, therefore the durability of the tire can not be estimated so well! After 12t km, however, the tire is never much left, however, even with thunderstorms at Tempo 200+ was still confident…., similar to the Pzero, however, it offers a little more comfort, as it seems to me, and is the newer development. In tyre tests, it cuts off considerably better than the Pzero, and runs a little less after the track grooves… I’m already looking forward to your experiences?

  • New here with S80 D5 and a few questions

First of all a friendly hello to all elk dompeteurs, after DB, BMW and Audi I have now a nice black D5 from 2003 with Autom., leather and all the stuff. I am totally satisfied. Only the chassis was too soft for me. I bought him 2 x 15 mm widenings from Heico and for a few days also the 30 mm sports suspension from Sachs. Actually I did not want to go deeper but there was only the chassis to make it harder and more precise. At the moment I have winter tyres on it with 215/16 but would like to raise in the summer 225/16. But also 17s or 18s but my workshop thinks that it will become too hard after all. Does anyone have experience with this combination? With 163 hp and the automatic it goes quite neatly, but is not a rocket. Does anyone have experience with chip at D5? Does that bring anything? And if so, which chip? Heico or MR, or anything else? Is there really such a weak point in the car that you have to pay attention to, as the tooth strap at the older 5 BMWs already?
