  • Presentation of my foreign-Navi solution

Hello together. I would like to introduce you to my third-party Navi solution. Maybe it helps one or the other in the evaluation of such a device. The installation of a DIN device was not possible for me from the beginning, because I am very satisfied with the built-in radio. At the beginning I planned the installation of a PDA holder. With my HP Ipaq and an additional software incl. GPS mouse I would probably have driven well. Since I need the Navi only about once a week and it in the The NAVMAN iCN630 – system was great from the design. It had all the functions that I always wanted and so I fixed myself on this device. By the way really a great part!!! As a connection between Navi and V70 II I ordered a Brodit holder for the medium ventilation outlet. An optimal position as I noticed after long crumbling. On this holder I mounted a Ball that has exactly the diameter of the NAVMAN counterpart (Saugnapf for disc mounting). With a DC/DC converter, which I provide directly from the car radio with 12 volts continuous voltage, I convert the 5 volts required for the Navi. A discreet socket found then also still space on the Brodit holder. In the appendix you will find some photos. I would be happy if I could read a feedback from you. I am really very pleased with this solution! Although it does not come to the original- Navi ran, but it also costs a lot less!!! Dear Greetings from Switzerland Interbert

  • V70 with external navigation

The PocketPC (Toshiba e350) has exactly the dimensions of the storage compartment next to the radio. There it is now attached to Velcro tapes. To the system itself: As software TomTom Navigator 2.22 is used with TomTom GPS mouse. Compared to the fixed installation I once had in a predecessor, the system is absolutely equal (except for longer tunnel rides) The Softwa However, re uses a small trick to continue without a GPS signal: the last speed is used for about 1 min to continue “blind” on the route. That’s enough even to get the exit Bahrenfeld behind the Elbe tunnel announced. The Toshiba e350 fits from the design almost perfectly to the V70. The display colors can even be adjusted to the V70 green. The complete map material of D, A and CH fits on a 256 MB memory card ! Gruss, Matz

  • “Advanced Functions” on RTI/DVD

Hello guys, I am now also proud owner of an RTI/DVD with TV (orignal SÖT-elchhalterung). at some point I have read something about the “extended menu” or the “extended functions” of the RTI, can unfortunately find the info nowhere more. if I’m not wrong, it was the keyboard sequence BACK ENTER BACK when driving up the navis, or ? thank you and gruesse Roman

  • Starting weakness S60R Part 2

Hello together As promised, I’ll send you the results of the measurement on the test bench. Remember: My father bought a S60R and we felt that the engine for the specified performance did not bring what was desired to the ground. After driving in, my father put the S60R on the test bench at the tuner and see there, instead of 300hp scarce 240hp and instead of 400Nm no 300Nm. No wonder he didn’t jump on the gas. At the moment he is in repair in the Volvo workshop. There is a new turbo. My question: Where is the quality control at Volvo? New out of the factory and already the turbo defective and that it already needs an up-date for the suspension is also questionable for me. I’m curious what else comes.

  • Purchase advice S60 R – T 5 or 2.5 T AWD

Hello everyone, I’m new here and have only been dealing with the topic of Volvo for a few days, as I need a new business car. Class forum, have already read some good information here. My specific concern: At the moment with the Alfa 156 2.5 V6 on the road a new car is coming up in autumn. Sovereign of the driving performance and comfortable it should be. I had the pleasure yesterday to drive the S60 R – the car really delighted me. The costs for the vehicle lie all I have a T5 for the test drive today and tomorrow – it is already a difference in the driving performance and the road position. The look on the inside of the R has of course also ‘what – the T5 is already biederer. On the paper the 2.5 T is now quite comparable to the T5 from the driving values – even if the “only” 210 HP has. There would surely make sense then the AWD variant – I have (after I had to use the AWD version) The question is whether the difference of 10,000 euros between a fully equipped T5 and a lean R is really worth it. Concrete question: If it won’t become an S 60 R – what would you tend to do ? T5 or 2.5 T AWD ? (the price is almost identical to the Euro). Gruss Michael

  • Kombuidär, and Sofdwär at Volvo

…tja…because today I got a software update for the FourC chassis from my garage for my S60 R….and fascinating: The feather behavior of the individual programs has become noticeably better (slacks smallest bumps even more efficiently and it definitely rumbles less in ground unevenness)….the only strange thing I had noticed (in daylight) this afternoon: the car seemed to stand up relatively “high-legged” at the back. But I didn’t know anything about it. But when I drove home this evening (daming), I suddenly see that the Ablellichter light up barely 6 meters in front of me. Headlights come at about 7-8 meters. I did not deceive myself: the rear of my S60 R has somehow become higher and thus the lights (which are no longer adjustable in height) ignite peacefully in front of me (unfortunately however) (unfortunately but I hope that tomorrow (Saturday) I will find a garage here in the Zurich region, which will be able to play back the old software in an emergency. Gruss Fredi P.S. This is probably right for all drivers, who want to largely do without electronics….I find it funny, however, because I work in IT and I have often stumbled over software jacks (…one deals with the solution of one problem with another…)… Who else has still had such funny software update improvements at Volvo?

  • S60 D5 – Experiences 🙂 / 🙁

Hi there, I just stumbled over this really interesting forum and wanted to hear how you’re doing with the D5. I’ve had the 2.4D since 03/2002 and I’ve been ripping back and forth at the moment. The engine and the seats are still a splendour and still create a smile. Unfortunately, after about 39000 km, however, the augmentations that I’ve summarized are increasing: – The engine heating is smoking with a cold engine and 2° outside temperature like a Swedish sauna. I’m curious if there is someone knocking on the disc with a fire extinguisher during the winter – from 160-180 km/h the outside play angels vibrate so strongly that you can hardly see anything more. Is that the same with you? – When you start you hear a crunching as if a moving part is grinding somewhere. Am I there alone? – I tried the service (web) once and only had bad experiences. Did I get the “Monday” or Is Volvo so responsive with you? Now I’m looking forward to your experiences. I think the S60 is a beautiful vehicle, but I’m not convinced of the quality anymore. But maybe your answers help to push my contract workshop a bit in the right direction. Greetings moxxito

  • old navigation system without DVD

Hello, have a 2000 V70 with the old Navi – without DVD and 16:9. Are there any new current CDs for these Navis? As of 2003. If so, where and how much does it cost? Is there an internal software update at Volvo – i.e. can you flash the EPROM? To speed up the whole operation and computing? Because sometimes the system hangs and it takes forever until I can select a city or street. Is there any way to reprogram the Navi, because towns that of a city t does not know it. There you have to always type the city on the center of town and then choose the appropriate town. So how do I know in not near home which town belongs to which city?? And now nobody comes up with the idea to say that the general education is.

  • Duration of stand-alone heating

Hi guys ! I’m still quite new here and have my V70 only since 6 weeks, but is really a great forum here. I know that you don’t need sand heating in this weather but you are curious. And try everything out. Now I was told that there are two different times of webosto 30min and 60min that you can see through the display lighting of the timer. green=30min red=60min runtime. Does one of you know if you can change this at the timer k ann (because in the description there is no hint) or whether you have to get a new watch with longer programming times ? Greeting Moods

  • S60R vibrations under the gear lever

Hello Leutz! I’ve been driving my first VOLVO for a week. I couldn’t resist how it was supposed to happen and decided to use an S60R. A hammer part! Now to the vibrations: In the speed range 3-4tsd tours I always heard a “snoring” and thought the shift lever was too loosely tüddelt. Far missing! According to my workshop the rope hoists of the circuit. These are probably not so great processed at the ends, so that one hears a snoring. Don’t panic VOLVO Is this problem already known and the workshop changes it directly next week. So dear R – driver listens in to your vehicle, maybe it’s the same with you. Otherwise I’m totally excited about this car (and VOLVO at all). By the way, I find the forums here really informative, because now I will first have to glue my dealer a current Navi-Cd from 2003 out of the cross 🙂 Another question: Can you do it somehow? e let out annoying limit without the guarantee expires ??? P.S.: I can’t really share the comparison S60R / D5 🙂
