Hello together, my wife and I are looking for a V40 diesel. On weekends we have some viewing dates for different V40. Our selection is limited to vehicles from EZ 2016, diesel max. 1200€ For this we often find the D2 with between approx. 80 000 and 130000 km. Also some D3. Since we did not have a Volvo myself I would like to ask you what places to pay attention and what we should pay attention to during the test drive. Are there known weak points on the mentioned vehicles? Are there any model change, engine change or changes since 2016 the advantages or disadvantages have? Are there from a certain mileage on engine, gearbox or particulate filter problems? Are the assissent systems defective? Sorry that I come to you immediately with so many questions, but currently we have quite a lot of small repairs on our BMW and Peugeot so we hope to be better served with a Volvo. I only know Volvo from the truck area and these are the one real premium brand.

Air conditioning
Since spring, I have been the owner of a V40 T2 Bj. at the end of 2015. In case of a demand in a Volvo workshop, I learned that there is no air conditioning maintenance planned for the regular service. With my previous vehicle (Toyota) I had a climate maintenance carried out about every three years in a very friendly and inexpensive Chevrolet car house (49€ without coolant). Every time, coolant was refilled and explained to me that a certain loss was normal. If there was clearly too little coolant, the compressor could take damage. The lubrication is in the coolant. What does it look like in this regard with the V40, doesn’t want to wait until something is broken?

V40 T3 Automatic – high fuel consumption when starting up
Hi Volvo friends. I need your support today, from drivers of a V40 with automatic transmissions. I drive a T3 (MY 2017) and have a fuel consumption of about 38.8 l/100km when starting up. This always occurs in the following situation: – The car stands level – I start the car and switch to D – now I only take the foot off the brake without touching the accelerator. So let the car roll up. – now the current verb also rises to up to 38.8 l/100km, but after some time sinks again to “normal” values. – an equally high consumption arises when starting/normal acceleration at traffic lights. My question therefore: Is this also the case with other automatic drivers or how high is the verb also in these situations with you? Note on the edge: My dealer has asked for this reason in Sweden and the Antwprt get, one may exchange the swimmer in the tank. He as well as I have to do with us and Sweden what the consumption should not have to do with the swimmer.

Summer tyres/wheels Volvo V40 T3 R-Design MJ 2018
Hello together, with me this year new summer tyres are due. Since I see my car in winter with 205/55 R16 tyres as much more comfortable than with the summer tyres with 225/45 R17, I am now faced with the decision to buy new 16 inch complete wheels or simply to have new tyres put on the 17 inch rims. In front of me: I know that the V40 has a rather tight suspension. In addition, the effects of tyre dimensions on the driving behaviour are far and wide clear to me. But: Is it possible to achieve a more comfortable driving behaviour (with the same dimensions) of the vehicle with tyres of other manufacturers (currently: ContiSportContact 5 225/45 R17 91W? If yes, which are recommended here?

Automatic gearing
Hello, I think I have a problem with my Volvo V40 D4 with automatic transmission. First of all the data about the car, it is a Volvo V40 D4 Bj 2012 with automatic transmission and about 120,000km on the clock. Now in the colder season I notice that the speed in relation to the driven speed does not fit and is increased. The transmission switches even in a moderate and gentle way to tap the gas very late. So I switched to the manual switching mode and it is noticeable that when giving gas the speed up quickly pulls up but the speed only very slowly, it feels like the clutch slips. If I then go off the gas the speed drops strongly despite manually selected gear. I hope you can imagine something about what I mean. Also, I find the transmission switch very taut and on no case of dynamic or fast. Now the question is what the problem is and if a transmission flushing would solve it would be possible. On demand with my Volvo dealer everything is normal and Volvo says that the gear oil lasts a lifetime …. did not tell me about it?

A few questions about the V40 Cross Country
Hello, I have a few questions about the Volvo V40 CC: Is the chassis comparable to that of the normal V40 MJ13 ? (I’m talking about comfortable driving) Do you feel the few mm increase ? Does it pay to buy a good annual car now as a private buyer, or should you rather wait for the new XC40 ? Greetings P.S.: Which color is better .. Osmium grey or denim blue ? What should you not miss when buying (equipment)

Roll-off noises and polterns
Hello, I’m a little surprised about the rolling comfort of my Swedes. With changing surface, there is a very different sound setting e.g. with smooth road surface it’s absolutely quiet, with rough surface then very loud, also a poltern is present on bad roads. Have Pirellis as summer tires, and now winter tires are on it-no difference. Is the construction reason and normal (e.g. because of the tight chassis)?, I could not drive a comparison vehicle yet. gru ß Oliver

Problem with the tyre pressure sensor (not from Volvo )
Hello someone has also made bad experiences with the tire pressure sensors that are not original of Volvo. Had bought my from tyre dealers and after 2 months the error message tire pressure maintenance required. I to dealer and who told me that the sensors I bought from the tyre dealer did not communicate with the car. After some in and out between dealership and tyre dealer installed the original Volvo sensors, and the problem ( error message is gone.) wa Find that the dealership could have said yes that they had problems with Non-Orginal Volvo sensors. Then I could have saved myself the whole back and forth.

Survey: How to get to the V40?
Dear community, I would be interested in how you came to the Volvo v40 since. Since the market share of Volvo in Germany is only 1%, I find it all the more interesting to hear your story about how it came to the purchase of Sweden. I would also be interested in what you drove before. I drove an Audi A3 Sportback 2.0 Tdi with Dsg before. Full cabin. Since this 9year old and 160000km had run, I wanted to sell it because I would get a few euros for it. e. But it became unexpectedly difficult. The new Audi was too boring for me and looked not exactly different from my age. So Mercedes A class was considered. There was no spark, especially since I felt the car was very tight in the interior. Off to BMW. Well the one was like the A class. As a confessing golf hater he also retired. There I stood with my talent, and other brands are not in question for me. When I stood at a red light, I look directly on the Fu hrpark of a Volvo dealer. And at the front of a V40. straight up and a test drive agreed. DIESEL D3 GT At the time I knew nothing of the 5 cylinder. So driven, only grinned and I knew that my new one will be a V40. That’s how I landed at Volvo. LG Thomsen
