A friendly hello to everyone and all the best for the new year. I have been reading here for quite a while and have already experienced a lot. It’s about the following. My bengel bought a NB in the spring. He needed a replacement car at short notice and it offered itself from the acquaintance circle suddenly. I then tested before and could not find anything negative. So he bought it and moved it until late autumn. Now he should be sold again. The test drive has mic h infected and I actually want to take it over. But I’m still unsure in a few places so that I don’t put a “laus” in the fur. It’s an NB from 1998. A 1600 with 110 hp and optically and then from driving quite ok. Now I know from the forum here, his biggest enemy is the rust. I still have to look at that. – What does it look like with the engine? The car has now almost 200Tkm down. As far as I have read here are the uncritical and cross-country skiers, if they are to some extent infected and I want to take it over. -Does the engine have a chain or a timing belt? What is the change interval? -What engine oil has to be in there and with what good experiences? – Do you get wear parts in the net or do you have to buy everything from Mazda? – Do you have a hint / hint on what I should still look at? Greetings rudi

Underfloor stiffening – buy butterfly brace in the USA. Who participates in a collection order
Hello MXler. I would like to treat my NB this underbody stiffening, called Butterfly Brace. It should be clearly noticeable and, since stainless steel, probably longer durable than the car. I looked at the installation video. Should one also be able to get there as a non-mechanic. Now the shipment from the USA with around 140 E is nevertheless happy. Does anyone interested in a collection order? Here is the offer at ebay USA: http://www.ebay.de/…/111501663642?… Happy Christmas I wish everyone! Gerald

MX 5ND battery handling in winter during season vehicle
Hello together, I own a Mazda MX5 ND and have registered this as a season vehicle. Since I do not move the vehicle in winter, the battery should be “maintained” via a maintenance charger. Now there seems to be some special features with the ND 160PS motor mi I-Eloop / I-Stop technology. I asked two car dealerships for advice and received 3 opinions 🙂 – a recommendation from Mazda regarding battery maintenance is still pending. Can anyone give me a tip on this? Requirements: Vehicle is in the carport without power access, battery is not in operation from November to April and should be “peeled / spared”, so that it will not be discharged or damaged. Thank you very much!

Mazda MX-5 NA purchasing advice
Hello together! I’m looking tomorrow at a NA Bj.91 red with 140tkm 1. Property and service well maintained. Apparently it is also stainless and in top condition. Price is 9,900, – is that too much for a well maintained NA? And are there special things to watch out for at MX5 NA? Have read up to now mainly about rust problems. I would be very happy about an answer! Have a nice evening still

extremely high oil consumption???
Hello I recently added a MX-5 and had to find out that I had to refill almost 2.5 liters of oil after just under 500 km. The vehicle ran 110,000 km. it is a 1.6er with 110 ps. it got about 3 months ago an exchange engine which according to papers should have run 72,000 but which is 2 years not running … so in normal operation he ncihts only when I drive the car briefly and then start…. or if I get in the stand correctly gas…. has anyone ever had these problems? for answer I am grateful

MX5 sound insulation
Servus, I want to keep my Miata a little bit better so that the driving noises don’t get through. I’ve been a little smart and I’ve set up the following battle plan: Dress the entire floor with bitumen mats. The doors with alubutyl are insulating, a little insulating tiles towards the interior, after the steam barrier. The trunk is also paved with bitumen mats, just like the wheel boxes. Do you think that’s meaningful, or would you do it differently? r should also a better music system pure, is this also a good basis for it? Many greetings, and thanks already in advance.

What has to be original with an H approval
Hello I would like to carry out the H-approval with my MX 5. They are: 1. black headlights ( Golf2 accessories) 2. leather seats 2 years ago by the saddler. But the original seats are only re-upholstered and covered. 3. black indicators front 4. aluminium rims make “RC ” in 16″ with tyres 215x45x16 5. roadster bar with wind bulkhead. 6. an Alpine CD radio mounted. The rest is original! The car has never been welded and has a new car character. rsprung back equip or goes through the H- decrease so. Kind regards

Temperature display in the instrument cluster is already at 12 o’clock even at the cold start
Good evening, as a fun car two weeks ago, I enjoyed an Mx5 Nb with 147 ps. The car has here and there its rust approaches, but they are not very bad. I didn’t really drive the vehicle until then, but I noticed that the oil temperature indicator in the instrument cluster is always 12 o’clock (~13 o’clock). I drove the car several times only into the hall and once warmed up because of the oil change. I already have spark plugs, air filters, M otor oil and differential oil changed. Next weekend, timing belts, belt, water pump, coiled suspension and the defective oil temperature indicator will follow. Does anyone know the problem and know advice? Thank you

MX-5 NB as a daily and winter vehicle?
Moin, I’m short: I’m currently playing with the idea of getting myself a MX-5 NB as a daily and winter car. What’s your opinion about this, especially about rust? Some of my friends drive the NA and the NB as a summer car, some have registered it all year round, but rather as a fun car in rainy weather. As a passenger, I always loved the driving feeling and visually I also find the things quite great. My question is whether it is still worth an NB In the north I rarely have snow, but salt and cold are still a bit worried about it. Will the longitudinal beams rust away immediately or can you seal them reasonably? I don’t want to take away the individual pieces with good longitudinal beams, just so that they start to crunch after a winter What do you think about it? What would you recommend?

Purchase advice: NA/NB for 3000 euros as a summer and fun vehicle?
Hello dear forum community, One ahead away: An introduction including pictures of my current car and the cars I have driven before is still coming. I also upload a profile picture, which just didn’t work out. I have been driving a VW Golf 7 as a daily car all year round for almost 3 months. I have previously prepared my VW Golf 4 and the following BMW Z4 E85, but in everyday life something like that is simply impractical. The golf was extremely deep and the Z4 was simply not the only car all year round. Now it makes me itch again in my fingers… Now I have come across the Mazda MX5, which combines fun optics with longevity. The MX5 should only run in summer and only as a second fun car, because the golf is used all year round. However, the whole should remain in the financially manageable frame. I like the model NA best. The NC is too expensive, the NB would still be in question and I would prefer a NA because of the iconic optics. I don’t need a window lifter, airbags and climate. The less is in it, the less is broken. Budget is at a maximum of 3000 euros. Since the mileage of the car is apparently not so important also cars with up to 200000 km come into question. Performance best from 100, but also the 90 hp engine would be enough for me. That I don’t get for the money well-kept, top maintained car from 1st hand is clear to me. Nevertheless, the car should be rusty The top should also be tight and last for a while. Since I have a well-known car mechanic, reperatures would not be a big deal, as long as it is nothing big. I looked at a MX5 for almost 6000 Euro a few days ago, purely out of interest. I’m scared! This as a “top maintained” inserted specimen, which the flag dealer around the corner was standing, was optically so finished that I drove again immediately. Paint completely through, dents, scratches, top torn at the sides, interior worn out, several times stained, rear window milky. For such a car I would spend Vll 1000 Euro. Now the question: Can the whole thing be realized for my budget? I do not expect a new car, especially since I have car mechanics and car conditioners in my good circle of acquaintances. Greetings, Stefan
