  • Question on winter tyres – MX5 NC Sendo with RDKS

Hi there, I have a few questions about winter tyres for our MX-5 NC 1.8 l with RDKS, which we bought in April. So far I have never been more busy with this topic with our previous cars (Opel Zafira and Tigra TwinTop) since we have received good deals from our Opel dealer, which we have relied on with confidence. Since the design is less important to us in the cold season, we always have steel rims with good winter tyres and wheel caps. When I asked about winter tyres for our MX-5, I was a little surprised at first. Steel rims don’t seem to exist or are used as good as not at all (I can also understand for design reasons, with the great car). So then aluminium rims, but which size can be driven? In the vehicle license there are 205/45R17 84 W, i.e. 17 inch rims. Can I then easily also use winter tyres on 16 inch aluminium rims. My Mazda dealer has offered me 16 inch rims from Mazda with Pirelli tires (I have to ask for the exact type again) which should be allowed for our MX-5 (example was provided by Mazda for this car …), even if only the 17 inch rims are registered in the vehicle certificate. The RDKS sensors can be mounted without any problems and a learning is probably done automatically. after a few kilometers. My questions about this concretely: – which rim size can be driven without registration etc.? – is there really no alternative with steel rims that I could fall back on? – is there still something to consider regarding RDKS? – which tires can you recommend (annual run capacity approx. 15,000 km and about half with winter tires in the rather flat Rhineland)? – in what price range should complete wheels with good winter tires move on aluminium rims or steel rims? I I am quite a newcomer on this topic and would therefore be very happy about answers to my questions and general information on this topic. Thank you so much, Tigra-Max

  • ATU – large inspection + 2 brake discs, 4 brake pads

Hello municipality, I was at ATU today and I had an offer for a large inspection (incl. teething) with rear brake discs and all 4 brake pads put together. Unfortunately I have no idea myself whether the price is so normal and just. I would be quite happy if you could look at it. =) I really don’t know if this is still worth it. I thought about selling the car. But since 6 years no customer service was done, I doubt that I would The brakes have to be made, since metal is already braking on metal on the back right. On the internet I saw that a set with 4 brake discs + 4 brake pads is not even so expensive. If someone would have done this to me privately. Could you recommend me a certain set? Generally not really know what to do: – Have a car at ATU and then sell. – Sell car as it is. (TÜV expired, I can only after the brakes have finished make?) – make windows and coverings private, then TÜV -> sell – windows and coverings private + customer service in the workshop (tooths?!) -> sell …. Please help me =/ car: MAZDA MX5 NB, 100000km, 145ps, 2004, Bezin, manual gearbox Have attached the offer as picture.

  • Inpayment offer too low?

Good morning together, in advance I hope that I will not appear too rude with this request! I bought or ordered a new vehicle with my partner two weeks ago (Leon ST Cupra) from a fundamentally serious dealer. I wanted to pay my Mazda MX-5 NC 1.8 Energy year 2007/03, this one has the following equipment: – automatic climate control – fabric seats – 6 loudspeakers (energy equipment) – 8-fold tyres, both summer and winter on the original n Alufelgen – up to 2014 sheckheftgepflegt, after inspection in free workshop was retrofitted: – 2-Din Naviceiver with: – Rear-view camera via Naviceiver – DVB-T television (nunja, nice games but no more) – navigation software, GPS and TMC receiver He has 71,000 KM and is a garage vehicle, color blue. I have driven in front left times someone, since an expert report was created and everything professionally repaired. Overall he is top in shot, the rear-view camera and the N Avi-device were installed by an electrician (hopefully) professionally. Now the real question: my dealer would take the vehicle for 6,500 € in payment. I find unfortunately little comparable vehicles on the usual sides, and if nevertheless these differ from the prices utopian far, so that it is very difficult for me to order or condemn this price. Can someone help me further and tell me what I can possibly achieve with a private sale? t that other factors play in here, I’m all about a rough direction! Thank you very much in advance! Zrael

  • Again engine noise…NB FL

Hall to all I just bought my first own car, a MX 5 NB FL in Pure White from 2001. I got it ultra cheap and I’m ready to do a lot of things on the car. The usual thing like a sleeper and underfloor is on. Now, however, I have a slightly smooth, catchy noise next to the engine noise in the low speed range and idle. It can only be heard in the interior. When the hood is open, I didn’t notice anything. Oil level is good. The engine also runs clean (without knowing too many MX5 engines now), linear gas intake, speedometer 200km/h at 6000 rpm was also quite easy. I know, remote diagnosis will hardly be possible. Will show the engine to someone soon but maybe there is a typical source of error. I tried to record this once by mobile video (difficult because the noise is very quiet). I load up however. Best regards.

  • Safety of the flaps constantly burns through

With my NA, year 95, the flaps no longer open when you turn on the light. With the separate switch in the center console it works perfectly, so that I can drive at night. Of course I found the defective fuse in the driver’s footroom and changed it – unfortunately it burned immediately again! The same problem had occurred about half a year ago, but at the same time an H4 bulb was defective, which I thought was the reason, anyway the fuse held afterwards By the way, the relevant fuse is still covered with the rear fog lamp, which was not switched on, which is why I want to exclude it as a source of error!? Unfortunately, I am not the fittest electrically, which is why I would be grateful for tips and hints! Thank you very much!

  • Uncertain when buying…Bastelstube?

Hello dear MX5 fans, I, 20 years old, have before me to fulfill my great dream of MX5. Unfortunately the offer here (Oldenburg +50km) is not exactly huge. Nevertheless, I found one nearby. Today drove and looked at. And then came the euphoria brake. Short time the data: price 2450€, negotiated down to 2.000€ 99er model with 1.6er machine, ran 112.000km, made timing belts. Lack ok, engine ok, tyres ok, cover and interior “sufficient”. ommen, rear apron and boot lid are slightly crooked. But now to the important: rust on the thresholdrs. I know that there was a topic here a few times, but I would like to discuss it again if it is ok. The thresholdrs are more or less down. If you press the side skirt in front of the wheel at the bottom, you can really hear the rust, if you understand what I mean 🙂 Furthermore, he doesn’t look so beautiful from below, including longitudinal beams. and it’s really fat this anti-rust mass (what’s the name of the stuff?) peed on the bottom. So: Is there anything else to save? I have targeted a “bastel budget” of 500 to max 700 euros. Or is this all forgiven love trouble? Should I rather wait for a “better”? MfG Mike

  • Overroll bar instead of cage, still safe??

Hello to each other, I would like to buy a Mx-5 NA 1.8 soon, which should be used a lot on the race track. Safety is of course top priority. A full cage is no alternative but I do not want to do without a certain protection in case of a rollover. After a short search I came across these two rollover bars:Link 1Link 2 Does anyone have experience with ironing of this kind? Is there enough protection?

  • Purchase help for a MX5 NA

Hello the NA is my absolute dream car for the beginning. But I don’t know what I really have to pay attention to when buying, maybe you have tips? The other thing: my father always says: The car has already run 160,000 km and is 18 years old, with which you only have costs and are always in the workshop! Is this statement true or is my father wrong and why? I am glad about every answer!
