  • W 460 Cabrio

Hello, my son had a frontal collision with a sprinter on Friday. Luckily nothing happened to him – apart from a few bruises. Tomorrow comes the expert of the comprehensive. The exact debt question has to be clarified, so first per all-round. A rough assessment according to the pictures: Is a repair worth it ? The vehicle is completely restored and stainless !! My workshop says that the frame can not be directed, or.. Greetings from Northern Germany.

  • Mercedes G300TD bj. 1997 reversing headlamp without function

Dear Community, The return light of my recently added G-Class unfortunately does not work. I noticed the whole thing when I noticed that the retrofitted rear camera is without function, or is not displayed on the radio so no signal fed. Of course I read in advance and checked the following things already: – light bulb is i.o. – cables are i.o. – connection with camera pulse generator or power supply is soldered and there comes after inserting the back My guess: The fuse may be defective? I would like to check that but unfortunately I find nowhere a schematic and in which of the whole fuse boxes the fuse is located. Does anyone have schematics? User manuals? Maintenance book? In case the fuse is in order only the switch on the selector lever comes into question? I would be very pleased to learn from your experiences and hope that I can solve the problem soon Greetings

  • The grievous tire theme…

Dear G-meinde! After having broken a tire yesterday, I have to prefer the tire theme. I drive the original Pirellis Scorpion in 19. Good road tires, in the terrain rather not so dolle. Sure. Now I am looking for a compromise, in order to continue to be comfortable on the road and still have reserves in the terrain (5-10%). I don’t know much about tires, but on my search I have to notice that I am apparently not so well positioned at 19. So I ask I don’t know if I should change to new rims right now… but which size is useful and possible? Sometimes I want to be able to drive at least 180. Of course I think the rugged off-road rims are great but I also want to be able to cruise in the city relaxed without the consumption rising to 25l, because the rolling resistance is gigantic… Oh yes, I drive a G 500 from 2017. I know that there are x posts on this topic but I can’t find anyone who really brings me forward t. So again in short: Which tyres / rim combination would you recommend to me for my requirements? Thank you for your help, Tobias (G993) from Brandenburg

  • ABS BAS EDC Error

Moin, with my 2002er G55 the three warnings ABS, BAS and EDC are constantly shining. Lt friendly diagnostic reading at MB would be the error source “undervoltage” . Further error source is not specified. i.e. it would be necessary a uU elaborate troubleshooting. The remedy in the logbook (lenkers each to the attacks) brings nothing. Does anyone have any idea how to (i.e. someone with compatible diagnostic device) make best progress in the search? Unfortunately, neither Bosch Dien st or other free workshop help because of lack of compatible diagnostic software. Thank you, Kristian

  • G63, BJ 2013, constant problem, whistling sunroof & squeaking steering column

Hello together, have a G63 (built in June 2013) since nearly 1 1/2 years in my possession and unfortunately two recurring problems with the car. On the one hand the sliding roof whistles from a speed of about 180 km/h loud, on the other hand the steering makes during parking, shunting and narrow short loud squeaking noises. I was already several times (5 or 6x) due to both problems in the Mercedes branch, the problems were fixed every time briefly, but are i .d.R. reappeared after one to two days. A lot was done, for example, because of the pipe on the sliding roof once the roof antenna was installed, sometimes even a new reinforcement than the normal one. On the steering wheel everything was tried out with different special greases, even a new steering column got my G63… nothing helped. Also multiple contact of the NL to the plant did not bring anything, the errors are allegedly completely unknown at the plant (as with the NL itself). Are there G63 drivers or drivers of other G models with the same problem(s)? Look forward to the exchange. Best regards, flip

  • Windscreen washing system heated

The whole thing I wanted to write a long time ago but well. I know it’s warm outside and the topic is not so interesting or just freezes the washing machine in spite of concentrate up to – 60 °C in winter. The error is with high probability in the cold air draught under the bonnet which leads over the hose to the nozzles. Because if I clip the hose to the nozzles from the holders and coat with steam material from the heating construction, then the penomen does not occur a uf. Maybe that would be easy but did not satisfy me visually. Inspired by a post from January 2016 in the following thread, I looked at the thing more closely.http://www.motor-talk.de/…/…-washwater-wischwasser-t5559409.html So with the limousines it is probably so that the windscreen washing system is heated over the cooling system and the whole thing is also thermostatically controlled to +30 °C. The hose to the nozzles is electrically heated and like the SWA nozzle With my W463 this outlet on the front of the SAM is the same as for the SWA nozzle heater. Actually, it would be enough to change and use a limousine hose. The hose does not fit 1:1 you have to replace the first distributor in the hose with a connector and remove the last exit. Since on the W463 no check valve is installed in the SWA I did this and one is installed in T-shape. Since that comes also in the The connection of the left nozzle has to be replaced by one of the right nozzle and exactly between both nozzles the T-piece is set with an integrated check valve. But since the SWA tank was already outside I have installed the heating of a W 210. The SWA tank must be removed because otherwise you do not come to the pump connections. The grip of the cooling water connection is a part of the W210 and thus the cooling water e The pumps of the limousines are different here they have an additional 8-mm connection. Since my pump was only renewed not too long ago, I bought a used pump from a limo and only replaced the pump housing. The suitable cooling fluid hoses are also from the W210. Since the retrofitting there were no problems again. There are also pictures of it but I have to take them in the loop. See and work.

  • … also an offroader has to Pippi

…it sounded strange in my G: for some time now I heard a clear swell noise while braking and accelerating. I meant to be able to locate the passenger side, but was not quite easy when driving. Somewhere down to the right. Tank retired, because regardless of the level of filling this swell noise was always there. Almost like a washing machine. I screwed up various flaps and lids from the interior and in the engine room; everything unobtrusive. After a night with frost discovered i icicles at the lower FZ-Rand, about middle, directly under the door. The sound was gone, so the water was frozen. As a result, in the garage, armed with spotlights, I examined the thing very closely. There are 3 rubber stoppers there in the longitudinal direction of the FZ. There a little bit of water dripped out. After I had pulled one out of it the whole water came out: about 1 – 2 liters. So people: also an offroader must Pippi. On demand in the MB NL: there was the following explanation: apparently There is a channel from the rain channel on the roof into this cavity. When the small holes in the rubber plugs are dirty, the rain water cannot drain. I’m curious about your comments and experiences. Many greetings, Roland

  • Heated windshield

Moin, I have not ordered the heated windshield because of the ticking of the preheater, but notice now that in autumn/winter this would still have made sense because of their tendency to install it. Like chance, I first got a really great stone in the windshield on my last motorway tour, therefore the question: If the windshield has to be changed anyway, a relatively uncomplicated exchange goes through a heated windshield, because the cables possibly. anyway or basically are pulled with all vehicles and then only the switch would have to be retrofitted? Thank you in advance for every information!

  • To: Mercedes Benz Subject: Change requests for the G class

I thought it might be interesting to start a thread here, where we as cube lovers, G-drivers, Mercedes customers and potential new customers of a G class, sometimes document our change requests. I am very sure that someone from MB reads this here …. maybe one or the other finds its way. So, I’m going to start what I would like for the future version of a G class (e.g. if I buy my wife a G so that she can get my nic Ht more often has to drive ) Series: – 120 liter tank – HUD (Heads Up Display) – Compass integrated in the mirror (as with the Jeep) – Death angle assistant – 20 years rust guarantee Optional: – Tyre pressure system a la 6×6 (also activated with the “Overhead Panel”) – Extra tank with 30 liters ( = 150 liters) – split rear door (2 doors) – Can holder driver side – small storage compartment (A4) driver side below the sun visor So, now you’re on!

  • Chassis change possible G-Class?

Hi there, I came over from the Gl Forum because I’ve been fascinated by the G-Class for many years. I drive a GL myself and love to glide the quiet way there. Since I find the G-Class but more beautiful and solid, I might want to change. I drove the car as well as 270/400 and 350cdi and was, as the only criticism, always the suspension comfort too hard. For this reason I wanted to know if maybe softer shock absorbers can build around the whole “ge Have you got a few tips… My favorite would be the G 500 (heart decision) or the 320 CDI (head decision) Are there actually differences between the two in the chassis? Thank you…
