Hello together I’m just hanging on to the purchase of a G. Now that the garage fits and the rust theme seems manageable, the ongoing maintenance costs are driving me around. Mercedes offers warranty extensions for 1,000 Euro pa. If one then subordinates “normal” inspection costs of 1,500 Euro then “unplanned” costs of at least 1,500 Euro will be added (otherwise the extension of 1,000 would not be worthwhile for Mercedes). Is this possible? How are your experiences? (will a G500, new, then flooded with Mike Sander)

Short or long-term
Hello dear G-meinde, I’m about to get a G. Actually it should be a gasoline tank before the MOPF 2001. But now I have noticed (and mainly the best wife of all) that the short viiieel is more beautiful than the long one. Space is enough for me with both, except that I can not accommodate the gas tank with the short without having much more space afterwards than in my oldie convertible. So if the short, then a later diesel. But now you read from and to different opinions on driving on the road (I assume that I have 95% road operation and 5% dirt roads, not really heavy terrain). One says that you can forget the short one on the road, which hoops like a rabbit. The other says, sure, quite as quiet as the long it does not run, for that it is more maneuverable and in the city also half way to use. And on good roads the comfort is always sufficient, despite short wheelstan ds. What do the experts say here: Hoppelhase or Pisten Raider?

a G 500 should it be… MOTOR VEHICLE CONSUMPTION ??? Realistic values ?????
Hello, After a long time and outlier of two other vehicles should now become after my G300 a G500 … I got enchanted yesterday during a test drive … a 2000 he, so the old cockpit, which is personally very pleasant to me … which still keeps me a little from being the unknown … MOTOR VEHICLES CONSUMPTION …. since unfortunately this belongs with … my 300 GE always needed something around 20L gas …. more 22L gasoline 2L less a known Had a 320 GE … the la g always at 24L… GAS Gasoline 2L less I am from the Sauerland so the little one has something to do with mountains…. well… if I would have to go further up a 8 changer with approx.28 L lying … ????? I think I will move it about 15000 a year… much solo and short distance …under 15 KM… …then stop with caravan, 1500 total weight, 600 KM to the Baltic Sea… I would just be interested in your values … unfortunately I did not find much in the I-Net, only about the newer ones…

G350d – frequent regeneration despite low DPF loading
Hello dear G-Meinde, last week I had my G350d in the workshop because it has been constantly regenerated for some time (100-200km, every 2-3days, despite regular cross-country trips) – The regeneration is clearly recognizable by the changed exhaust noise background, when parking it “smells” hot and you can feel the accumulated heat from the underbody – The analysis of the data however revealed a last stored regeneration before 800km and a current loading of 30% – after i h my vehicle had picked it up then it didn’t take 100km until a regeneration was started again – can’t it be that the load rises so fast – Does anyone have an idea what it might be about? Are only completely completed regenerations stored? Besides, I have the feeling that the exhaust line to DPF incl. SCR Kat gets much hotter than before. Thank you and greetings, Lars

Test crankshaft sensor connection
Hello together, I would like to contact you again: My G270cdi Bj. 2002 with 225tkm currently deals with start problems, which unfortunately increase. Last time he went into the emergency run during the ride. Diagnosis shows the error P1354 “synchronization between crankshaft and camshaft”. New crankshaft and camshaft sensors did not improve. Before I check the control times and control chain, I would like to look at the sensor signals with the oscilloscope. In the case of the camshaft sensor cable, mass (Pin 1) and 12V supply voltage (Pin3) are inconspicuous. In the case of the signal line (Pin2), I did not know how to check them. In the case of the camshaft sensor cable, my research should be based on mass (or donor mass) according to pin 1. Pin 2 will bring the signal voltage. And now it will be incomplete for pullable: When Ignition OFF around 80kOhm between Pin1 and vehicle mass. Well, I thought, maybe the vehicle mass in the control unit will be switched to the donor mass only when Ignition OFF. But when Ignition OFF there is suddenly 2.5V between Pin 1 and vehicle mass. Also 2.5V between Pin 2 and vehicle mass. Can this be true? If someone has an electrical circuit diagram, that would of course also be a hit Lg Seppo

Battery emptying at the G 400
Dear G-meinde, the G400 year 2003 was bought by us directly in Stuttgart as a factory car in 2006. In the winter of 2007 the battery was changed for the first time. The new one only lasted about 6 weeks, then the next one came into the G-model as a Mercedes original part. This one also kept short. In the meantime, after several other batteries, a gel battery was installed and it was found that a consumer pulls electricity somewhere. The windscreen was changed with light and rain sensor, the alarm system m Mercedes Stuttgart has provided a diagnostic device, which was installed in the vehicle for over 4 weeks. Unfortunately, the recording did not reveal the error either. However, it was found that a consumption of 0.274 mA sporadically occurs. The last thing the comand system was jammed and the G-model stood 2 weeks during a holiday and then jumped again. On holidays that took place before, the battery was after such service times ko mplett emptied. So the comand system was checked, unfortunately without any results. Nevertheless, I got an AT-device and had it installed. Unfortunately, the battery is still vacuumed. Now all devices connected to the comand system have been disconnected. Unfortunately also without success, the battery is still vacuumed. Who has an idea what I can still do? The branch has long ended with its Latin, it has no ideas and is waiting to get a new one from me. The G-model is too bad for scrapping. Help me to stay a G-fan.

W463 – 1995 – Water in the footroom / passenger footroom – Help with containment needed
Hello dear G-Meinde, I’ve been on the road at MT for a long time and now I’ve turned it into your area, because I bought a W463 – 1995 – G320 (petrols). I have bought a list of defects so to speak and try to turn them off gradually and hope that you can help me with the one or the other problem Current problem:- Water in the footroom (driver and passenger) – When does the problem arise: with longer raining / washing rack. hleuch hardly/ not really reproducible – The classics – disc washers / disc frames I can exclude (probably=, because I could remove tacho as well as passenger valves so far to see that everything there is so far dry – My guess passenger side – door seals / The spray foil behind the door panel – Please also see pictures – My guess driver side – ….no idea – you can see that the water drips on the hood unlocking switch and there 2 cables Could this also come from the door/side? – See also pictures – Do you have experiences/ideas that could help me in the confinement? I will of course also share my experiences in the context of maintenance here. – Can you call me by chance in the area Rhein-Necar (Darmstadt – Mannheim – Heidelberg – Karlsruhe) a savvy G-Schrauber workshop that can be trusted?

The Unreasonable Wins
Hello dear G-meinde I’m looking for a G-Class in the range between 40-50K. What can you expect for that at all or what should I pay particular attention to? I’ve often read the topic of rust. Where does it start, where is it particularly well hidden but points to big problems? Engine? Minimum equipment etc? I don’t understand e.g. the sellers who sell a g 55 amg and put on the back g63. Does this have anything to do with the optics? Are these automatically re imports? Ni I don’t know what you’re thinking now, but seriously. The 55 is already a piece of entertainment. So I think he has to be fun too. But he doesn’t do that if he’s completely broken and I let myself be pulled over the table. Somehow I’m totally unsure about these things and would very much like to know what I’m getting into before I buy it. Maybe you can recommend something to me or bring me closer why, for example, Bauj. A than B or eh he invests more because of XYZ in order not to enter into negotiations as an idiot. Currently, no vehicle purchase is necessary, so this refers only to the desire and what I should be looking for. I would be very grateful for your tips and help.

Change shock absorbers
Good morning dear G-Meinde I want to change my shock absorbers tomorrow, as a damper begins to sweat. Someone knows the tightening moments(torques) of the shock absorbers screws/nuts (G500 2015-18) Thank you in advance.

G500 2005: Automatically switch day running light to stand light?
My 2005 G500 does not have any daytime running light (TFL). I have installed a retrofit solution that puts TFL on the current circuit of the stationary light. Works well. Problem: I always have to turn it on manually (i.e. light selector switch on position “Standlicht”, which undermines the safety idea of the TFL bitsl. I would like to convert it so that it is “always on” when switching on the ignition. How do I do this best? In the switch? In the wiring directly on the TFL (detonation gestures) I am grateful for any idea/proposal.
