Hello together, for a few weeks I’ve been looking forward to the new G500 with its modern chassis and interior. What makes me not happy is the Burmester system: With equalizer setting “0” for basses, mids and highs I experience only muddy sound without any brilliance with much too much bass. In the setting “Raumklang” the dull impression becomes stronger. Currently I have the basses set to “-5” and the heights set to “+7/+8” to contour the sound a bit. But the solution is definitely not. Sound source is Bluetooth from the iPhone with Spotify at high data rate. What irritates me: with all other vehicles I always set the volume on the iPhone to maximum, so that I then regulate in the car how loud I want to hear. That’s not possible in the G: when I turn louder on the iPhone, the display in the G also shows me the volume bar. Do I do something wrong? How are your experiences? That’s how Mercedes can not have lost the sound system. The Harman Kardon in the BMW 3 is a rolling concert hall. Thank you and greeting hawaii

Oxi cat broken?
My 270cdi runs smoothly when I accelerate. That would be because the oxicate is full. Wouldn’t be too bad, it’s added. If this is the case, it just keeps running according to the secondary current principle. Dirty though, but otherwise without side effects. However, you can blow it free, so that it can fulfill its original task again. Best on a highway ride over 100km plus at 3000 turns. I have now gone to Brittany, felt about 400km with at least 3000Tours, rather more. But he’s at least the same as he did before driving. What else can I do, with the black clouds I’m really embarrassed. Despite retrofitted DPF. Can such a cat be defective too? Greetings Carsten

G 400 CDI (aid for alternators)
Hello Talker, I need your help !! I have a G 400 CDI and 3 months ago after washing (high-pressure spotlight) flashed in the display battery / generator defective and shortly afterwards undervoltage. I drove to my dealer. He told me that the alternator was defective. It was checked additionally still at MB = alternator defective. Well can happen is stupid because very expensive. I had the damage repaired for a lot of money and everything was wonderful again. Last Friday was i ch again when washing (high-pressure spotlight) and now the shock in the display of the beautiful note battery / generator and shortly afterwards undervoltage. It probably cannot be that already Lima is in the ass again. The installed was an overhauled alternator. Who knows about this problem with the G or the 400. I would be happy about your help. After washing also the Automati light did not go on. This can now be done again and I have about 11.0 volts voltage in the extended display. I am happy about hints. Greetings Tomi

Better seats for G class WDB 463
Dear forum visitors, I have tested a used G55 model year 2003 (WDB 463) today. I am interested in the purchase and this would be my first car of this class. I noticed – and I am aware that this was already criticized by other drivers – the execution of the seats in this G class. I did not find a good side support and also the seat, or the leg rest appears to me quite short (although I am not particularly big with 1.78 cm). I am not very comfortable. is that with the last model revision also the seats have been improved, however for me, such a young G55K from financial guilds is not possible. My question is therefore whether someone has experience with an exchange of seats. Are the new seats available for example and can be installed at a G of 2003 or is there possibly a specialist company that offers a retrofit? What is the experience of the G-drivers with the seats? If one gets used to the quite spartan seating comfort or tiresome I would be happy to hear about experiences and much more about exchange and/or improvement tips. Warm greetings, D. PS: What I also found interesting on the test drive is that from speed 170 km/h the sheet metal of the bonnet really got into vibration. You can also call it “flatten”, although the hood was correctly closed. Is this also normal?

G320 Year of construction 99 – Recommended purchase?
Good afternoon, have a G320 year of construction 3/99 with just over 80,000km in view. Automatic, climate, AHK, electric window lifter, leather….are in it as SA. Is definitely a model before the cheap take-over parts of the W203 ;-). How is the car from consumption? Insurance and tax? Price: 23.90€ Is the price realistic? Can you recommend the year of construction with the motorization or what points do I have to look at in any case when reviewing on site? Thank you and greeting Markus

300 GE 1991 What to pay attention to when buying (does not give so much clues)
Hello, I am interested in a 300 GE, after I first introduced the 300 GD. I know the problems with ABS sensors at 190E from the middle years of the year. Is there such a thing with the G ́s too? Where does the engine oil, what does it look like with ATM transmissions? If everything turns soft OK? Rust at BJ 1990 and shortly following? How can one try the locks when buying without “swipe up much dust?” Are the petrolers with a cold start control retrofitted afterwards to Euro 2 standard as well as What about the valve seats? Are they “on” after 150000km so that a lot of oil is consumed? Are there problems with the fuel supply (nozzles, holding valves, pump, cold start valve?) so that the engine may have start problems or a restless idle? Here it seems that the newer, very large models are discussed. See many numbers like 400, 500 and CDI models 🙂 Thank you for your answers.

Orginal Mercedes heater doesn’t make it warm???
Here we have our “new” short G and I am very happy because he has a heater. So the big surprise on and after half an hour: the car is actually still freezing cold. So in the user manual read again… my husband and son activated… new attempt with fully turned-on heater and again almost no heating in the car. Our conclusion: the heater must be broken! So off with the G in the factory In advance the call that I can pick up the G again… the heater works perfectly. On my request, how that can be (whether we are too stupid to operate the part), the following answer: “If you want it to be really warm, you have to have a proper heater retrofitted… e.g. from Webasto. The Mercedes heater serves only the de-iron of the windows, it doesn’t get really warm.” But when I read the operating instructions there is: The heater h What’s right now? Do I have a heater or just what that means? Or does the workshop have a problem? I would be really grateful for your help! If you had any problems, I would be happy to help you.

In addition to OM 656 further engine variants available in the future?
Hello together, does anyone of you know if it is planned to bring further engine variants with perhaps only 4 cylinders, next to the OM 656, which will be ordered from this month, for the G-Class on the market? So the car could also be significantly cheaper. Thank you in advance.

New vehicle in exchange?
Hello my box 350 BT has permanent problems with the gearbox, etc. (permanent in the workshop). My pain limit is now slowly reached. Now I got the offer to exchange. I think to make the exchange. Should I upgrade to a 500 he now (payment for vehicle with even better equipment (full) keeps itself in limits with 8,800 € net) or leave it at the 350 BT. Despite the many threads on this topic I am unreliable. I consider the diesel to be fully ausreic The current 500 he engine is an indestructible long-term runner. I drive around 25,000 KM/per year, but could limit the driving performance to 15,000 KM, as I just bought another small box (because of the problems with my car so far), because I can’t keep the engine running faster than I can. I can’t drive more than 500 KM/h. I can’t drive more than 500 KM/h. I can drive more than 25,000 KM/h. G sure to stay mobile). Besides, I just want to buy this one G for a very long time and not to exchange it again after a few years. Apart from that, the 500 he would have to be switchable to gas if the fuel costs went through the ceiling. What would you do? At all exchange or leave it that way if repair works now. And if you swap, upgrade or old proven? Greeting Tom
