  • Greetings from G-drivers

Hello together, In another post the topic of “mutual greetings” appeared sporadically. Would you like to hear your experiences and wishes. I didn’t have the G for long, but in the short time I was greeted 80% by other “male” G-drivers. I also find this very nice and will continue to do so myself. No matter if I am greeted back or not. What do you say about it? Would you like that, or do you find it rather annoying? Drivers too? (Landy, land cruiser etc) If we all pull together, we could also do this in DE across areas. P.s.: Example in the appendix should not show the end result

Is there perhaps a known weak point in the wire harness? Thanks already Gruss Joerch

  • Sell G400D or not?

Hello, I need your advice, I’ve had a G400D since November 22. I love the car and I think it’s awesome. But now someone has offered me CHF 25,000 more than I paid for the G. Would you sell or keep the G? I mean that’s exactly the price difference to the G500 in Switzerland, which is also available here. In theory, I could buy the G500 without spending money on it. I really hate to give the G400 here, but if someone is ready 25k To pay more is actually stupid not to make the deal, especially since I don’t expect the price to remain stable, especially for the diesel. What do you think? Thank you for your advice!

  • Door lock rear door closes itself, guide extension door lock

Hello, I have read a lot of good hints here and have found no answer for my current question. I screw on my 2009 W463 to keep it in good condition. Some small matters gradually turn out to be more complicated. At the moment, such a problem is working and not coming any further. The door lock of the rear door causes problems. Sometimes it is closed by itself after closing the door. I have extended the door handle and more to observe n how the mechanism works and what goes wrong. By clicking the door lock trap, the door button slides down. You can also say the mechanism squats down and closes itself. When the door lock is removed, I can’t get any further. Is anyone familiar with this detail? Greetings Simon

  • All-weather tyres

Hello everyone. My friend and I had a conversation yesterday about the tires of the G. My ordered G I think once the Pirelli Scorpion Zero All Season installed ex factory. What is this like in case of an accident in the winter? Since the tire has no snowflakes symbol, it is not a winter tire or a tire that is registered in the winter. After a phone call with Pirelli, the technical department informed me that the tire is technically a winter tire but it is the approval in Germany doesn’t have it for it. It probably lacked a few tests and they were Pirelli too expensive, because you only need them in Germany. In Switzerland it is allowed according to his knowledge. Do you buy an additional wheel set in winter or let it come to you? In my region snow is no longer normal but sometimes we still have some. Here is the text from the Pirelli page: The SCORPION ZERO ALL SEASON 275/50R20 113V XL MERCEDES is not with the mountain pictogram symbol au The name “All Season” therefore does not mean the use as a full-year tire. https://www.pirelli.com/…/113v-xl-mercedes?frontId=3149600 Thank you for your answers.

  • New Mercedes G allterrain Twin-Monotube rims and matching tyres

Moin, after I received the following photos from Letech in southern Germany from a dealer, it was now clear to me which color my G 400d will get final. I am still in the “waiting loop” and could still choose color. China blue (sometimes called vintage blue?) is set! My inquiry with the dealer however referred to suitable rims, since for my personal taste the G must be corey instead of protzig-schick. These 2-part Twin Monotube rims are for me also set, but the question is, which AT tires do you recommend with the G especially with this rim in 9 x 20 inches? The best would be with AT tires, which of course offer very good grip on asphalt at the same time. To avoid misunderstandings, it is an allterrain rim with TÜV for W463A, with exchangeable starting protection ring (which is very practical for me offroad and my wife onroad :-)) and no StVo illegal wheel rim where the tire is stuck. I would also need this kind of Since tyres for the 463a are a science in themselves, the reference to usual tyre test results or other forum search in other tyre size is not particularly useful. Does anyone have experience with this Renegade tire have the Letech installed? Thanks, Markus PS: Guys, I am looking forward to the box like a small child !!!

  • 350 CDI customer service measure

For the OM 642 (350 CDI) in the G model, there is a customer service measure (code word 1204P01A81) Check engine oil quality and modify engine ! Depending on the deposits in the oil, e.g. visible on the oil filling lid (slamming) are carried out under this customer service measure, until the end of March 2013, engine scrubbing with conversion to enlarged oil tank. Further, crankshaft bearings are replaced according to increased noise or even new engines installed. Owners recommend to address a MB workshop at short notice, which will then carry out the proposed controls and modifications.

  • Mercedes G-Class radiator grille conversion (W463 to year 2017)

Hello dear forum members, my G350d wants a refresher at the front. I wanted to hear different opinions or also suggestions and experiences, what is possible here. For example, there is a G63 grill in the accessory or simply paint the original 3-speek grill in black or even the Panamericana of the new 463a ? I first wanted to exchange the chrome Mercedes star for a black one, but already failed because, maybe someone has a short tip p ready how to get the original one out? Thank you

  • G500 – Investment?

Good morning, As most people know, the prices for used W463a G’s go through the ceiling. In particular, the g500 is traded far above list price. On AutoScout24 there are only 121 models for sale. Models with a few km and good equipment cost well over 200,000€. Now even customers start selling their orders for 60.70k. Information also condenses that the 500s from 2024 will not have a V8, but only an R6. I ask because I actually do, because I am I planned to hand over my slot (free of charge) to an interested party. However, due to the price development I think about buying the car and selling it myself. What do you think? Will prices break down or go even higher?

  • G 320 better than G 500

Hello, now it’s going to be exciting, because I’m going to scratch the G 500’s aura in my next post (Bj. 1998-2007). I recently bought a G 320 (M 112), year 1998. I deliberately bought a G 500 (M 113) with the same price offers on the market. I’m going to report on the reasons and my experiences here. Step 1: actual comparison The G 320 (M 112 E 32, V6) is technically G 500 (M 113 E 50, V8). Both have a cylinder spacing of 106 mm and an angle of 90° between the cylinder benches. They were manufactured partly on the same production facilities, and there were many identical parts. Both have an engine block made of light metal with cast-in cylinder bushings made of Silitec (Al-Si alloy) and a light metal cylinder head with an overhead camshaft per cylinder bench. Like the M 113, the M 112 has two inlet valves and an outlet valve per Zylin The V6 engine has a compression of 10.0 : 1, the V8 engine has a compression of 10.1 : 1. The G 320 (M 112) has 82 hp and 150 Nm less than the G 500 (M 113), but the G 500 is only 24 km/h faster in the top than the G 320 (…Top speed speed speed driving with a G, year 1998, is m.E. nonsense, because a G is, since 1979, a off-road car, not an AMG -sports car) and accelerates only 2 s faster from 0 to 100 km/h. This means that the consumption of a G 320 (M 112) is on average 4.8 l/100 km below a G 500 (M 113). This amounts to 1,020,- EUR per year (with the same driving performance per year). The 320 V6 consumes less than the older G 320 R6 and has good emission values for its time. Thanks to its balancing shaft, the unit runs very low vibration. The G 320 V6 has, like the G 500 V8, an electronically controlled five-speed automatic transmission (Bj. 1998). The G 500 was fully equipped ex factory (leather, air conditioning, root wood, 18-inch wheels, etc.). However, it had to be ordered for example sunroof, stand heating, sound system and stepping boards extra. At the G 320 even more had to be ordered to get the same equipment. More than the G 320 in 1998. The G 320 V6, especially in the version station long, has become rarer today than the G 500 (with the same year of construction). With the old petrol engines before 2001 the G 320 (V6 as well as R6) is today one of the most popular. G 500 /Bj. 1998-2007) exists today, like sand by the sea. Tax and insurance are, due to the displacement difference, cheaper with the G 320, than with the G 500. The difference is 888,- EUR per year (same insurance class, same exhaust gas no. m). The cost of inspection per year is equal, although in fact some of the parts installed in the G 500 are more expensive at MB than in the G 320. Step 2: subjective comparison – follows.
