In order to make the car mobile, I have a w220 and have used the engine with 300tkm, without doing anything else. Now with about 350tkm the engines make ticking.     On Sunday I had a spontaneous failure of the sliding roof. It was a bit open and could not be closed again, just open further. So on the way I looked at the safety plan and found that only the fuses and not the relays are marked on the safety plan. So that there was nothing really to be done on the way. At home in the garage I then dealt with the function of the roof and for every function of the sliding roof in the schematic of the rear control unit A relay found. Only in the relay layout of the rear control unit these two relays do not appear. Probably because they are mounted on the body. The self-help on the way (e.g. in the case of rain) would therefore have been no problem at all, if one had known the location of the two relays. Because water in the control lever module is suboptimal. After exchange of the two relays it was established that the locking relay is defective. The measurement later revealed a too high resistance of the coil. ch incomprehensible why on the inside of the fuse box cover the complete occupancy, as on the W163, is not printed. I took a photo of my rear control unit and labeled it. Depending on the equipment, the occupancy can vary. There are only 4 different relays installed in the whole vehicle and some of them also as reserve assembly. That means you can change in case of an emergency besides the reserve relay also a relay from an unneeded function. Sliding roof errors can be used with the relay from the rear wiper engine or with AdBlue errors the relay from the rear windscreen heater. For the fuel pump 2 reserve relays are inserted in the rear control unit and 2 relays in the front of the front of the passenger. The relay from the rear disc heater can be converted from the rear control unit into the front of the front of the passenger as starter relay.

  • Differential lock does not work

    Hello dear G-driver! Unfortunately I have a problem with the differential locks (Bj. 10/2016, since 2/2018 my G): The first lock can be easily selected and then activated after at least a few meters (red lamp). Second and thus third can be selected, but the red lights do not shine. I was already with Mercedes twice and a new sensor (o. e.) was installed and told me that the locks are activated only when the wheels spin. m you can only test the electronics in the workshop and they say that everything is fine. However, I don’t think so, because with the test car I drove before (but not bought), the locks were activated without any problems. Can someone help me? At the moment I am only on the road in the home light to middle terrain, but I don’t want to lie down if it gets heavier and the locks don’t jump in at the end. Thank you!

    Dear G-Friends, in my G 463 270 CDI Bj. 2004 the tank imploded by a poor ventilation, it started with that the tank display did not work anymore. I didn’t know anything bad, I continued on the highway. After about 600 km I stayed there. The tank was very difficult to open at the tank lock. After I filled 10 liters from the reserve can, I could start again. In the following refueling only 40 l fit into the tank. I left the G to the workshop of the Autoindustriale GmbH in Bruneck for repair – with the indication of a possible lack of ventilation. The short test resulted in a clogged fuel filter. The next day I was able to pick up the vehicle again. The tanker was not checked because the lid in the trunk was covered by luggage. After the second time, I looked at the tank from below and through the opening in the trunk and found that it moved up and down. The G should be above all a lover car (3rd vehicle beside everyday cars of my wife and me), but also sometimes the family moves on longer distances or a trailer. He won’t see terrain. I just like the history and the design at the G. After my previous knowledge would be a W463 long from the end of 80s / early 90s and thus a short- to medium-term option for an H-approval. On the engine side I thought primarily of a petrol engine (300 / 320 / 500), whereby the very old diesel (OM603, OM606) would be an option in principle, but in the context of the discussion about diesel driving bans and above all high running performance rather in the background. CDIs do not think so, are also too new to me. I also do not want a craft shop with high repair requirements. I have learned that I have to pay attention to rust. ss. I’m surprised about the price level of the G, since the same old W126 or W140 are much cheaper to get than G. I don’t have a precise price frame, somewhere between 15,000 and 25,000 euros would be optimal, with a healthy buffer for repairs. I have a bit of screwdriver experience with old Mercedes, but the G is a lot different, especially it doesn’t fit into my screwdriver garage (too low). nn outside mobile.de?   • How to hire Burmester in G-Class?

    Hello together, for a few weeks I’ve been looking forward to the new G500 with its modern chassis and interior. What makes me not happy is the Burmester system: With equalizer setting “0” for basses, mids and highs I experience only muddy sound without any brilliance with much too much bass. In the setting “Raumklang” the dull impression becomes stronger. Currently I have the basses set to “-5” and the heights set to “+7/+8” to contour the sound a bit. But the solution is definitely not. Sound source is Bluetooth from the iPhone with Spotify at high data rate. What irritates me: with all other vehicles I always set the volume on the iPhone to maximum, so that I then regulate in the car how loud I want to hear. That’s not possible in the G: when I turn louder on the iPhone, the display in the G also shows me the volume bar. Do I do something wrong? How are your experiences? I have a G 400 CDI and 3 months ago after washing (high-pressure spotlight) flashed in the display battery / generator defective and shortly afterwards undervoltage. I drove to my dealer. He told me that the alternator was defective. It was checked additionally still at MB = alternator defective. Well can happen is stupid because very expensive. I had the damage repaired for a lot of money and everything was wonderful again. Last Friday was i ch again when washing (high-pressure spotlight) and now the shock in the display of the beautiful note battery / generator and shortly afterwards undervoltage. It probably cannot be that already Lima is in the ass again. The installed was an overhauled alternator. Who knows about this problem with the G or the 400. I would be happy about your help.     Dear forum visitors, I have tested a used G55 model year 2003 (WDB 463) today. I am interested in the purchase and this would be my first car of this class. I noticed – and I am aware that this was already criticized by other drivers – the execution of the seats in this G class. I did not find a good side support and also the seat, or the leg rest appears to me quite short (although I am not particularly big with 1.78 cm). I am not very comfortable. is that with the last model revision also the seats have been improved, however for me, such a young G55K from financial guilds is not possible. My question is therefore whether someone has experience with an exchange of seats. Are the new seats available for example and can be installed at a G of 2003 or is there possibly a specialist company that offers a retrofit? What is the experience of the G-drivers with the seats? If one gets used to the quite spartan seating comfort or tiresome I would be happy to hear about experiences and much more about exchange and/or improvement tips. Warm greetings, D.
