  • G400 – A call for help from the jungle

    Dear Motor-Talker: I live in Nicaragua recently acquired a G400 CDI (BJ.2001, 146,000KM) and started to restore it. I got everything so far in terms of chassis, body and interior, but with the engine side I have problems, which I could not solve even despite intensive research so far: the car smokes heavily (black smoke under load) and has very little power. Kickdown also doesn’t work but I think this is a consequence of the failure. end performance… Since the only MB dealer on site refuses to accept the car in customer service (because it was not bought there, I am not even sure if the company already existed in 2001) I had to contact an independent workshop. Also have no information about maintenance work of the previous owner. The first scan revealed these two error messages (unfortunately in English): Code P2025 (Check component M16/5 (throttle valve actuator). Positioner signals lazy (me ssage through ground keying) and: Code P2036 (Check system N33/2 (Heater booster control module) Open circuit in Wiring My mechanic thinks the throttle valve has to be replaced. I’m not sure if the error message refers to a problem with the sensor or the wiring. Has someone here personally had a similar experience? Besides, the car is quite neat – in my opinion at least – but I have no experience of this vehicle type o I appreciate the tax chain probably has to be changed. Is there a method to confirm this?   • Sports air filter G500

    Hi guys, I made myself a little smart. At the SLK 350 M272 there was a sports air filter box. This is from the size equal to the M273. There are probably colleagues who have tested the already in the CLK 500 etc. and it really has to bring a nice intake noise. Does someone from you already use it?     Hello together! When configuring my G, of course, I also thought about what you might need, and what rather not. It’s certainly easiest to tick everything in my current G, but it’s quite expensive. What do you think, what can you do without and why? I’m going to start with: comfort telephony! Why? I have these in my current G and don’t use them. 1. because the comfort features that are limited to SMS don’t work with my iPhone 5s. 2. Stays loading The same applies to the antenna. So it remains in the soft cover (my 4s I have scraped without the cover by falling down) and everything also works nicely without the comfort features. 3. In addition, the compartment in the middle armrest is not occupied by the charging shell. 4. I have also not noticed an improvement of the reception by the roof antenna. 5.   • Old W463 centre console

    Hello together, someone may have an old/defect wood cover for the center console. Can also be broken etc.. I’m just trying to make a cover from 2mm sheet metal stable. However, need the clips on the bottom of the cover to create a 3D drawing from it and try to print it. If it works, I’d like to inform you. These covers are extremely expensive and quickly broken.     Good day dear forum members, there is currently the possibility to use free funds for the purchase of a vintage car. The focus is definitely on a G-Class with year of construction before 1995. On the net I find some trusted ads, in the range between 18,000 to 25,000€, here is also the budget for the purchase. But before I commit myself to the topic, the personal experience has shown to listen to the experience of other experienced people and to listen to them. For example: – minimum condition of the vehicle at price between 20,000 and 25,000€ (e.g. no rust, check booklet, TÜV/HU new, H approval) – defects that may not be present at the price range – experience on the ageing process of the vehicle: can the vehicle be seen as “carefree” as a long-term investment, or are the vehicles before 1995 in the next 10-20 years. Is the vehicle only suitable for very experienced self-screws or are the G-Classes also suitable for “beginners” before 1995, e.g. thanks to the lower electronics? I am of course also very grateful beyond experience values beyond the above-mentioned key points!   • Which G-Class is this? (rare model)

    Dear community, I was at the bakery this morning and I became aware of a beautiful G-Class of an older man, with whom I also talked. I wanted to get more information about the vehicle now, but find absolutely nothing about the vehicle. It must be a w460/461 or one of the early w463. It was definitely the old design language of the 90s. To the vehicle: – on the vehicle stood at the rear G400D – the vehicle had the chrome front guard, which meanwhile – it was a two-doorer. – on the roof was a spoiler – it had the striking double sidepipes I hope you can help me, since I found only a G400 CDI, but it doesn’t look like the one I saw. Edit: Apparently it has to be a 400CDI… Does anyone know if it is a special model or something?

  • Retrofit TT-C in G 270 CDI – Problem: blower control

    Dear community, I’ve been reading with you for a long time and have been able to draw a lot of valuable information from this forum. Thank you for sharing your expertise! However, I can’t get any further on my current question. But I’m short before: I’m Immo, am 35 years old and have been living in Garbsen near Hannover and have been repairing my cars for several years and have taught me most of it myself. For almost four years I’ve been driving a G 270 CDI from 2002 with 270.000 k m. (photo in the appendix with roof box for the holiday.) When I took over the car, there were a lot of things to do. I gradually accepted the problems and learned a lot. I am a big fan of heaters and it always bothered me that my G did not install any. Therefore I bought a universal TT-C and am now busy with the installation. The heating should be switched on via an LTE module. CAN and AI remain outside. So far it is also clear that only the A. I have already read from pin 23 or 26 on the climate control panel, but I only have 16 pins. I can see which cables leave the climate control panel in the schematics. But not what the unused pins are for. Or did I miss this in the WIS/ASRA? What are the possibilities to control the ventilation? In the appendix I put photos of the plugs and pins as well as the circuit diagram of the climate control panel. P.S.: What is this black flap for? chkabel? It does not appear in the schematic.   • Speedometer adjustment

    Hello together and a successful year 2025, I got a wheel set in 2024 almost. Problem is that the speedometer shows around 1-2 kilometers less than the vehicle drives. Can one make an adjustment with _Mercedes or with a suitable star diagnosis ? Thx for your feedback
