  • To: Mercedes Benz Subject: Change requests for the G class

I thought it might be interesting to start a thread here, where we as cube lovers, G-drivers, Mercedes customers and potential new customers of a G class, sometimes document our change requests. I am very sure that someone from MB reads this here …. maybe one or the other finds its way. So, I’m going to start what I would like for the future version of a G class (e.g. if I buy my wife a G so that she can get my nic Ht more often has to drive ) Series: – 120 liter tank – HUD (Heads Up Display) – Compass integrated in the mirror (as with the Jeep) – Death angle assistant – 20 years rust guarantee Optional: – Tyre pressure system a la 6×6 (also activated with the “Overhead Panel”) – Extra tank with 30 liters ( = 150 liters) – split rear door (2 doors) – Can holder driver side – small storage compartment (A4) driver side below the sun visor So, now you’re on!

  • Chassis change possible G-Class?

Hi there, I came over from the Gl Forum because I’ve been fascinated by the G-Class for many years. I drive a GL myself and love to glide the quiet way there. Since I find the G-Class but more beautiful and solid, I might want to change. I drove the car as well as 270/400 and 350cdi and was, as the only criticism, always the suspension comfort too hard. For this reason I wanted to know if maybe softer shock absorbers can build around the whole “ge Have you got a few tips… My favorite would be the G 500 (heart decision) or the 320 CDI (head decision) Are there actually differences between the two in the chassis? Thank you…

  • Xenon headlights stolen

Hello Fan-Gemeinde, come out of the house today and unfortunately it has to find out that at night both headlights were completely removed and stolen. We live in a quiet residential area in a dead end street, the car stands under the carport on our property. There you do not expect something like that. Does everything look like order theft, since one could use the headlights. Question in the round: Am I an individual case, or do similar experiences also exist elsewhere? Greeting df6900

  • First time G class!

Good morning dear community, I’ve been driving several SUVs for a few years now and a Porsche Cayenne GTS that has to leave in the middle of the year. Now I’ve fallen in love with a G63 that I’ve seen by chance in Cologne. Now I’m so G class infected 🙂 Can any of you experts tell me some experiences about the G 63? In particular, I’m interested: – how are the wind noises in the G at 160-180 – there really is no removable AHK -fin the color Designo Magno extremely cool, but should be super sensitive? -which color would you prefer -how is the realistic consumption Thank you for helping Gruss

  • Buy G-Class?

Hello everyone! I would like to buy a new used one this year. Unfortunately I still have no idea what it should be. I am currently driving a small Mazda 323 C IV BG from ’94, which is however too small for me, therefore only limited long distance travel suitable and will probably last for up to 4-5 years due to rust on all parts. In addition an old Mercedes MB100D. It is indeed huge and I can (must) repair everything myself (also head seal) The thing is amazingly cross-country, but it has only 75hp and a cruising speed of about 100 kmh, at which you have to catch fresh air on every stop with tinitus on your ears… is therefore not suitable for motorways. What I am looking for now is a car that suits me. A car that I can drive for the next many years, with which I can also drive to Spain or Italy, (and this as comfortable as possible with reasonable speed over the e Autobahn), and that even in the terrain and in the snow still comes from the spot. The consumption is first of all secondary. Also a registration as a truck would be nice. What do you think? Does the G-Class do what as the only car, to drive with it daily to work and also sometimes far away into the holiday? And is it at all economical, if one needs the off-road accessibility usually only for fun?

  • Questions on fuel reserve and stationary heating

Good evening dear G-meinde, 2 new things confuse me with the meanwhile 1,500 km driven G350BT: Fuel reserve: Here a yellow and later a red tank symbol appears when the fuel is running down. However, the remaining range is no longer displayed. At Discovery came the warning light, but the residual range was further displayed. Can you set this somewhere with the G? If not, how much liters do you have with yellow or red?Standheizung: It is my first standheizu ng in a car, it warms the interior perfectly. I thought, however, that the cooling water is also preheated and thus avoids the unfavorable warm-up phase. However, the water temperature indicator stands at 0. Is this because the sensor sits in a place to which the warm water reaches only when the engine runs or is the cooling water not warmed at all? Servus

  • Lock the axles?

I have recently had a G 270 Bj 2002 with a safe mileage of only 70000 km Since I have little to no experience with off-road vehicles so far and am absolutely beginner with regard to Mercedes G I hope to get some helpful tips here. 1. The center and axle locks switch only very reluctantly. The light up of the red confirmation takes different lengths. The middle sometimes goes immediately, shortly afterwards, next attempt, it takes very long or several attempts are necessary Ig. rear axle as well. Front axle always lasts very long, several hundred meters driving distance, sometimes nothing happens at all, there is no feedback. 2. The doors, especially the rear door, are difficult. Out of hinges rust exits. Can one the fat or which possibility of remedy are known. Torsten Block

  • Hope: Multimedia totally for the G-Class, ex works and ex post!

Comand Online. This is the name of the multimedia hub of the current G-Class. In the first year of delivery, the system could not use smartphones from Apple and no smartphones with the Android operating system for the data connection. The result was “Comand Offline”. Any protest at MB had done nothing. Only in 2014 Mercedes started to deliver a Navi in all model series, which supports correspondingly contemporary Bluetooth protocols. The result was right here too. lean: A very slow data connection, impossible web browsing and an absolutely ridiculous Mercedes-Benz Appstore. The following applies practically to all MB vehicles: Then Apple took care of the matter and developed a system for all manufacturers with “CarPlay” which brings iOS to the Navi screen completely. Mercedes was one of the first manufacturers to offer the system. The start is the C-Class. However, and this is new, Mercedes wants a retrofitting option for older vehicles and promises this by the end of 2014! Probably all “Comand Online” systems will be affected, the retrofit will probably be a small black box, which is switched into the bus system of the Navi. Here my source:http://www.macrumors.com/…/ P.S.: Mercedes wants to bring CarPlay to the market as a universal system, which not only supports iOS but also Android.

  • Chiptuning?

Hello, what do you think of Chiptuning for the G500 I am travelling a lot of long distances, highways and highways – and there the data of Racechip.de sound quite good. However, there is no part report for the G500, therefore a single acceptance would be due. But that would be possible with us, because in my vicinity there is a quite pragmatic TÜV… BGT

You want to get out a pizza and a six-pack and meet people with a liking. An hour and two beers later the next one is already planned 🙂 Have you already had such experiences?
