Hello, yesterday I visited the R class long and short and “sitted”. – Maximum disappointment. I would define both room feeling and workmanship as rather modest. The careless processing strongly reminded me of the initial times of the M-Class. I completely incomprehensible why in row 2 only single seats are offered. No wonder the DC now rams the thing over leasing special conditions. What should I say – I renounced the Probefa offered to me Hrt and was happy to sit in my XC90 again. I guess I just have to wait for the GL. The R-Class doesn’t survive two years of production without significant changes. Could be a similar “knuller” as the Vaneo. Gruss Nusso

Engine damage
Here is a new, “stolzer?!” owner of a used R class! After I noticed oil stains in the garage, the DB workshop should check where the oil loss comes from. After a complex search it was set that the turbocharger (if I understood it correctly) was no longer equipped with its 3 screws (2 cannot be found, 1. Aborted; see picture) and was only kept in place by the loads. As a result the diselfuel (see picture) flowed down the engine block and d led to the oil stains. But what was worse was that the wheel from the turbocharger due to its self-vibration in the cylinder head has become metal abrasion (see picture) The DB workshop rightly says the metal abrasion is now well distributed in the engine compartment and will sooner or later lead to an engine damage; what I can imagine well. AT-Motor 14.000€ !!!!!! The engine is a 320 CDI built year 6/2006 with 146 tkm mileage DB-Checkheft. Please for help/ideas if the problem is known. st / Kulanz by DB is possible; etc. Thanks already for answers

Some questions about the R (350/500)
Servus with each other! I will probably have to get a new used car in the near future. I put a lot of value on the long-distance comfort, because I have to travel long motorway routes due to my service (about 20,000-30,000km per year depending on the location). Furthermore, I need space, lots of space, and in view of my personal wish- family planning, this would be the right space for a R class. I have already looked at the GL, but here fails. My questions: – Is it possible to upgrade the R 500 L with 388hp to LPG or LPG or LPG? – Can the third row of seats be lowered as elegantly as with GL, so that a flat loading area is available? – Did you have any problems with parking spaces, especially underground garage entrances? – Can you retrofit a rear camera? If so, what would that cost about? – I read here in the forum that it is supposed to rattle like in the R. Well, wi r have a vaneo in the family and there it is really terrible… I feel less like it, especially on long sticks. – What should you pay special attention to when buying used goods at the R? – Can you give me a clue about maintenance (inspection, brakes,…)? Thank you for your answers! Greetings, Tobias

R-Class – Problem: Automatic tailgate
Hello, I’ve been a proud owner of a R 320 CDi in full equipment for 6 weeks. I’ve had a problem with my automatic tailgate for 2 weeks. The trunk only closes automatically if I leave a door open… When doors are closed, the trunk doesn’t close properly. Do you have that too? Best regards Stephan

fine squeaking door noises
hello, have recently a R-350 L. since I am a changer from an E-270 cdi I enjoy of course the quiet in the vehicle. but: from the area of the doors come with light floor waves in city traffic always so light, fine squeaky noises. as soon as you drive the windows down only a few cm, the noise is completely gone. therefore I type on the sealing rubbers or window guides. have you made similar experiences and found a solution? maybe Talkum on the seal apply?! thank you for pointing out, because without this little pain-ache the sled is really fantastic in things comfort! 🙂 greetings hawaii

Winter tyres R-class
Hello. I’ll get back here after a long time. So it’s about the following: The cold season has caught up with us very quickly. That’s why I need a set of new winter tyres with new aluminium wheels now. Now my question: Absolutely original from Mercedes Benz or can you just buy from the big tyre dealer next door? I don’t know about technology, but how exactly does the tyre pressure control work? Is this somehow with the tyre Is that why you can only change the original tyres with MB incl. aluminium? Questions about questions..I know.. Maybe my concerns are also absolute nonsense Well anyway. Thank you for your answers and everyone a nice Christmas wishes Christian, who is still very happy with his R-Class.

My name is Rosti
Tach, guys! Now the car rusts away under my butt, that can’t be true… I was really busy on the weekend and after a long time brought the car to high gloss again. What I saw then (apart from the stone blow in the windshield to the right) drove tears into my eyes: After the clear varnish on an area of 1cm2 has already peeled off on the bumper at the front right, it now has the tailgate and the ladder left and right G of the panoramic roof caught. The friendly one meant: No problem, 7 years of rust guarantee on it. Just repaired. Have the same problem also with A and B-Class, so nothing extraordinary. Well, 3 years old car and already rust stains from inside out. It is almost like with my neighbor, there are all 4 doors rusted away with his Opel Meriva, and that after 4 years. With a few pictures. Greeting Rollo

Corrosion on the R???
Hello, since February 2009 I drive an R320 CDI, first registration 11/2006. My flying carpet now has a mileage of about 35,000 KM. Actually I am very satisfied and enjoy the ride comfort and the many technical helpers. Now my first contribution starts with a (at least for me) exciting Knüller: On both rear doors I noticed in some places “paint underwalk”. I am not talking about small lacquer inclusions, but partly b is about 10 cm long, irregular fine “branches” on the door sides, which is facing the body. Pretty close to the welding-sealing or adhesive seam of the doors. Last week I was at my Mercedes-contract workshop and asked for a visit to my doors. The friendly body builder immediately informed me after paint density measurement without abnormalities, that it could be a kind of corrosion. A new appointment for the “damage up” hme” I have now on 27.08.09. Then a “Kulanz-Request” should be created to Berlin, for the purpose of taking over costs for repair or for two new doors. I think I will insist on two new doors, after all we speak here of a vehicle, which is not yet 3 years old!!! Dr. Z. gives after all 30 years guarantee against rusting (well, he is not yet through…)! Does someone have similar experiences on his R-Class or can give me tips on the further procedure?

Why R?
Yes, why should two current students (I, 27) and girlfriend (30) be firmly convinced that an R-Class is the right car for them? I guess I’ll have to go a long way to do that, and hope for some honest advice later. But first I have to clearly praise this “enclave” on motor-talk, it seems to me that a lot of great people are represented among the R-Class drivers/buyers. At least I have such manners that prevail here, in hardly any other Internet-F R-drivers seem to be at least rather “unusual” people. If you are looking for a serious advice, you have to become very personal at first, I don’t think so bad at all. So I am a trained automobile merchant at Daimler, graduate in economics. Analog to my girlfriend, very committed, on the best way to a state exam. I guess that there are a lot of academics among the R-Class buyers. We two are unfortunately the first in our families and therefore rather rational, economic and commercial to think. Nevertheless, I need a motivation for the rest/degree of my studies, and what could there be more beautiful than a great car? But now to the point, I think it is very witty as a merchant to buy a used R-Class. After all the semesters of the studies, cycling, noodles with ketchup etc. I would like to treat myself/us also something. ps to step, the prices for used R-classes are in free fall. Too bad on the one hand, because the car is totally misunderstood and the sellers often don’t understand it themselves, the market certainly doesn’t. Nice, however, that we as a young couple (both in higher service) can afford such a great, safe and flexible car. I plan to buy the car rather cheaply, to keep it for a very long time, still have a lot of fun and safety with it. To get to the job would be eig The use of a bicycle is almost exclusively private, for hobbies, holidays and for pleasure. Which R-Class, with what “important” equipment would you recommend to keep in mind? I would also help if someone honestly reported why he likes his R so much greeting, Felix

Finally he’s gone
I say goodbye to the R-Forum. I am finally rid of my Sch*** car – after years of trouble and constant visits in the workshop *jupiii*joy* Since certainly not many R-Class are changed, I would like to keep back with concrete statements and not put the list of defects online; and it is sea very long! Too bad, because I was very excited about the ride comfort, but the R-Class of my opinion is not suitable for our big cities: – Parkplat zsuche can disperse – some parking garages are absolutely taboo …. and fuel consumption is simply no longer up to date!
