  • Help!! rims closed but no more keys… what do ??

Hello guys, hope you can help me. Unfortunately, I know very little about cars in general and have bought a Mercedes W220 S320 whose rims unfortunately have a rim lock. I did not take into account this during the private purchase of course. So in the car it is not and is unfortunately not findable anymore. now the front two tires would have to be changed urgently, since one tire already has a crack and the other one is already porous and could burst… Only without the hatch This will be a bit expensive for the wheel lock, because otherwise it would have to be broken up just like the car man told me. I have to drive a distance of approx. 1000 km on Saturday and would like to do it this week. The wheels are unfortunately not original Mercedes rims. What other possibilities are there??? Hope it has been posted in the right subforum.

  • Which MB doesn’t rust? W221, W251, R230, W211?

Now that I have made my experiences with the S210 year 2001 and probably in 1-2 years at the latest will no longer be able to cope with the rust without investing thousands of EURO, I would like to look around for the next star. But from which model or model year is rust no longer a topic? I just hope it IS no longer a topic… What I like? Different. As an affordable combination there would be the E-tonne W211. As a luxury sled a S-Class W221? But also a Van of the R-Class could be interesting. Or as a fun car for dad with grown-up children an SL R230. Does one know what it looks like with the models especially with rust? Greetings from Königs Wusterhausen

  • Switching to S-Class – Watch out for what?

Hello, I would like to switch from my Phaeton (with which I am basically quite satisfied) to an S-Class. Optimal would of course be a well-equipped model that is a little older (leasing vehicles don’t really come into consideration because of my annual mileage). I looked around a bit on the usual used car platforms and found a few models that I find interesting and which fit into my budget. But as that is so, it could be I hope that one or the other can warn me of pitfalls that would escape me (I’m really more of a driver than a hobbyist) or what you should pay special attention to. What the maintenance costs look like in reality and what it looks like with inspections etc. For example, there is an S 320 CDI long version, EZ 10/2009, 200,000 km S 320 CDI DPF, EZ 03/2008, 89,000 km and a S 420 CDI with AMG sports package S65, EZ 05/2008, 159.0 00 km In general, I would like to know how to set the costs and how many kilometers I can still ride realistically with the cars (I drive about 50,000 – 60,000 km per year, so it should be convenient). I know, it is unfortunately still kept very general, but maybe someone has one or the other tip for the change. Therefore, thank you already in advance for your trouble!

  • Mercedes S-Class used as first car

Hi, in the last few months I have been more and more interested in cars and think about which car I should buy first. My father said that I “can” drive only one Mercedes, because Mercedes has the biggest legroom and I am now already 1.91 tall and will probably still grow a “quick”. I want to buy a cheap car as possible, so I thought a C class with approx. 100,000 km and a bit of power (204hp is I find already a lot for a car n first car), but then I read that big people in a C class don’t get quite happy, because the head on the roof and behind the driver only has a piece of paper space. Then I looked around for an E class, but in my opinion the most beautiful version, which was built only from about mid-2009, there is unfortunately hardly any with my budget and my desire to buy 204hp. For fun I then pressed on the website on the S class offers, and look e there, the used S class is cheaper than the used C and E class. I like the design good for kneeling down and the performance corresponds exactly to what I imagined. However, I have two worries: 1. Is the S class very expensive in case of any repairs ? and 2. Is it too protzig as the first car ? Just to anticipate this already: I make the L17 driver license, that is I will have driven at 18 already > 3000km and then have already 2.5 years driver driver driver ng, so I don’t have to worry that I’m always scratching and bumping in. Also, I don’t want the S-Class because it’s a Benz or to impress people, I just want to take a nice limousine in which I can also take 3-4 friends. Insurance and car tax would pay me my parents until I make money myself. Please just answer the question if the S-Class is the first car to be too expensive in the repair and not come with instructions that before you had to drive around with 20hp and a 500,000km run Trabant. Thanks already in advance.

  • Which part is defective?

Hello dear forum, my W220, year 1999 is currently in the workshop… originally to replace the crossbar (because of the adjusted track). The workshop has just informed my wife that unfortunately the vehicle cannot be repaired, because special tool is needed: ball heads (front) are knocked out, have game. Are pressed on the axles to be able to exchange these special tool is needed. Unfortunately can not do much with this information and do not have the the possibility to call the workshop… Is the armrest the same as the crossbar? If the ball heads cannot be changed, can not the whole part (which?) be exchanged without special tools? Thanks for a short info… Best greeting, Schutzschi P. S.: Or is the support joint the “Corpus delikti”?

  • Star

Hi! As a total newcomer and totally ignorant user I have a question: my father has an MB SE 260! Some idiots have broken off his star and to his 50th I wanted to give his Benz the dignity again (it looks really nice… out of so nacky). On the internet there are designations for such a new star… äääh, ja, da ich kommt nicht geschaut! What do I have to pay attention to and are all stars the same? Can you use every star for every car? Would you really be great if you were to give me thanks in advance! Lg small-sized

  • Tire questions? Personal contact with Conti on 08/09.10.2010

Hi, with our Hyundai Coupé we have the problem that because of the slightly lower mileage the tires age instead of being driven off. After 6 summers (EZ 8/2005) the standard Hankook had become uncarable (zero grip in wet weather, car breaks already in slight curves hardly controllable first in front, then out back and can only be driven with spinning wheels). The Goodyear Ultragrip 7 winter tires were also from 2005, so I got a little early on Cont 2 weeks ago. i winter tires TS830 changed (Goodyear Ultragrip 7+ was not yet available), as we therefore also stayed out of the half-year change run. I have not been able to determine the weakness in dryness as determined in the ADAC test, but it is most likely to be painful from my point of view. My Michelin PA3 for the Mercedes will hold another winter before they fall below the mandatory limit of 5 mm for Austria, there will be a change in autumn 2011. the new Michelin A4 or the Conti. Now I’m lucky to have a few tests with the Conti in the snow on 08.10., then on 09.10. we go to the Contidrom. I am one of the 10 lucky participants who can participate in the SnowChallenge of MT and Continental. So if you have a few very special questions about tires, I can take them with me to the meeting and present them to the tire technicians of Conti. lg Rüdiger:-)

  • Nightvision – bullshit!?

Hello friends, wanted to start a little discussion about the Nightvision system in the new S-Class. My opinion: The system as such is not bad and certainly also promotes safety in the night traffic, but: Two essential flaws: 1. You have to look down at the Tacho to see if what comes. Do you do that just before two pedestrians or something like that appear out of the dark? 2. The system only works as long as it is not widely used. t. If it should eventually also prevail in the middle class or even in the compact class, then cars with Nightvision blend each other when they meet as if they were traveling with driving light. What do you think? Gruss, Guatemala

  • Kaufberatung SEL 600 W140

Hello, got a tempting offer, and still has to see if I can afford the flag ship at all. A well-known sells his W140 SEL 600 Bj 92 with 132,000 Km on the tacho for 5000. I’ve already seen the car and it seems to have no Mengel according to my car mechanic cousin. Make a pretty good impression, just have to be polished again, then it is like new. The only problem would be the maintenance, or rather the consumption. The owner of the car mei I’d like to know how many liters you can drive this car if you’re on the road. It would be annoying if the money for such a nice car wasn’t enough for gasoline. Thanks in advance.
