  • Change of spark plugs

Good evening friends of the S-class, soon my car will have the ASSYST A. Have looked at the work on WIS. It is manageable. The mileage is currently approx. 107000km. The spark plugs have not been changed to date, so the first ones are still ex works ( BJ 1999 ). When driving there are no irregularities to feel. Since 15000km I drive additionally with car gas ( LPG ). Also here no irregularities. Now my question: Is it useful to switch spark plugs just because it prescribes a service interval?I do not want to exchange a working part simply because it provides for some plan. It would be different if there were problems. I am curious about your opinions. Experiences about the standing times of the ignition plugs with your vehicles would be interesting for me. Note: I do not need answers like: S-class driving, but not able to entertain… etc. If I hadn’t been able to afford the S-Class, I would not have thought about it would have been a good thing to do for them.

  • S-Class Meeting 2014 Review

Hello dear forum colleagues, now we have already the year 2014, by wanting to spend a nice weekend together again. A few days ago I was asked: “Would you still organize a meeting?”, wrote. My answer was: “Yes, if the time of the meeting is allowed and the users are for it, yes, so I would like to pass on the question to all of you. Last year it became a problem, the locations were chosen, but no one wanted to take over the organization. If I would organize a new meeting, of course only the room around Kassel (Edersee, Fritzlar, Kassel, Hofgeismar, Hahn Münden) would be in question. As you know, I like to create surveys, from here my Doodle survey with the question: Should MondiGhiaX organize the S-Class meeting in the Kassel area?

  • STVO: S-Class has to go right in construction sites!

Hi, one learns about it. I saw today a post in the ZDF turntable. It was about construction sites, where the left track is marked with a >2 meter < sign. There a driver of a VW-Bulli (T5) got a warning of 20 €, because he had used the left track, because the actual width is decisive. Width according to papers 1.84 m. But the mirrors must be included. Total width then 2.20 m The W220 is according to data sheet 1.855 m, with mirrors 2.092 m wide, therefore also has to be on the right track. However, there is a tolerance of 9 cm, which are exceeded with W220 only by 2 mm. The W221 is with mirrors 2.12 m wide, the W140 without mirror 1.886 m (with I did not find, but should also be over 2.09 m). Just to the info... lg Rüdiger:-)

  • Natural gas S600 AMG S55

Hello dear community. I would like to buy an S600 or AMG 55. Since fuel prices will not fall and a diesel is not really worth it anymore, I would like to build car or natural gas. Is this possible with the engines? If it does not work with Mercedes, then it works with a BMW 760I or A8 6.0? I am grateful for a few opinions.

  • W126 – Radkappell contra Gullideck, what looks better?

Dear Sterngemeinde, on my W126 I now have freshly purchased Gulli cover on it and am not so sure at all what better fits the car, Gullis or Radkappel. What do you mean? Plant: so far with Radkappel …

  • W126 gear problems!

yes people! also I’m w126 freak! but unfortunately, I haven’t really wanted to make fun of myself for some time! some time ago my gearbox is broken… (it slipped so much that no more gear went in and at all came to a power transfer at 5000 revolutions) so I got a “new used” one. that’s why I had a bad amount of oil when it was installed. so out with the thing… the mechanic then somehow got me the oil. pump converted, because the allegedly leaked was. well, densely bit not right, but it “sweats” only and with it I can live. then first n few weeks everything was good. the gearbox switched and did not slip through. then, suddenly and without a reason for me, the gearbox doesn’t switch anymore! I can only drive in the second gear! since now two weeks it goes like that and the funny thing is that in the time (still driven daily) about three times pl It doesn’t seem to be related to the operating temperature, since it once switched in the completely cold condition and once in the (really) warm condition again. otherwise it doesn’t switch at all at the moment. neither cold, nor warm. one specialist told me that there are two possible causes for these symptoms: either the gearbox is dirty or it has torn a brake band. has one of you similar experience I would like to expand and clean the gearbox now. if any of you have documents to build such a transmission, or even repair instructions, I would be very grateful. would be happy about any literature in this direction. and of course also about your opinions on the problem. oh yes, it is a 500sec, ez12/86 (mod. 87). already many thanks, raphael

  • Urgent!,correct oil for S-Class

Hello, have an important question! A friend of mine drives an S420 W140, now he has made an oil change with a synthetic oil 5W40, so far so good, but now there is only one number on the oil canister: API SJ – ACEA A3-98! May he drive this oil, would be very important!! Shouldn’t there be a release of DB on it? Thanks already in advance. Greeting Mario

  • 600SEL clatters on test drive

I am in the decision phase, whether I should buy a 600 Bj 1992 with 136,000 km (allegedly verifiably true mileage). The problem is that when driving the test drive at the rear left a little bit, if you drive over bumps or on bad road. I then put the car on stage and looked for the shock absorbers or other parts. But it doesn’t seem to be broken. Does anyone have any idea what that could be? After all, the car v get new TÜV/AU on 8 weeks and otherwise also makes a well-kept impression. I’m not sure if I should buy an expensive problem with my W124 260E or rather make it quick again…
