  • R129 SL500, which engine?

I have a question to the experienced R129 municipality. I can possibly get a very well-kept SL500 from 1992, i.e. an early model. The power hubs are different, both early models are often given 326hp, from about 1992 on 320hp and from later models 306hp. According to Wiki the first engines are identical, type M 119 E50. From 1992 on with less hp and torque, why always. In the later models from 1998 on the M 113 E50 was used, few r power and less torque. As far as the facts are concerned, I myself drive an S211 EZ08 with the M273 KE55. Best Engine ever, in my opinion. Now the experts are asked: should one buy an early R129 with the M 119, if it is maintained or rather watch to get a late with the M 113, because the engines are more modern and the complete technology more sophisticated? The vehicle would be a pure fun vehicle for the summer, annual driving performance perhaps 5000 to max 8000 kilometers, with the claim to become a youngtimer in a few years. So fuel consumption is to be neglected. I say thank you for your information.

  • personal experience with the fa. serious car design

Hello.I wanted to tell you my experiences with the above mentioned company. After a few phone calls with the company I decided to have a exhaust for my 129 he built. To and fro and “all no problem etc…” I entered on 31 August the trip to Erftstadt to hubert-vilz-platz 8. arrived there first I had to find out that under house number 8 only a run down factory house stands. next to a wooden gate which was locked. no ring, no company sign u. sw.mir swan already something like that. point nine clock came then lord seriously with the car around the corner and we meant we had to drive further to the manufaktur when I approached him ( had asked on the phone whether the workshop is under the address, which he affirmed! ) he did not go further on. we then drove to the “manufaktur “. a few km further at zülpich. there we turned then into a farm where it looked like with an east block lpg.da I was first a bit baff. there he asked I said thank you and asked for the cars where we could listen to the different systems as discussed by phone in advance.. therefore he said there were no ones and the exhaust would be already finished we are then in the “manufaktur ” ( bkk exhaust) and have and looked at the exhaust. was not like in the internet to see with flange (” we don’t want to do anymore because the people want cheap and the anyway only break etc ” ) , But to get stuck. For that the production exhaust had to be cut. if I didn’t want to have someone else the exhaust would have stayed there. what disturbed me then was that the exhaust was still pointed without the battery to be clamped off ( ” would happen nothing, have done so many things etc ” ) Lord was already serious for a long time again somewhere on the road. conclusion: Lord serious is only mediator. who believes at hubert vilz place 8 stands a beautiful workst att with big gates will be disappointed. I personally have been lied to when I asked if the workshop is also under the address as well as with the 3 cars which should be listened to. will do the devil there again something to buy or recommend someone. so long mario

  • Speed limit “LIM” doesn’t work –> Car doesn’t pull anymore!

Hi guys, I have a question. I have a SLK 230 R170. I was in the workshop last week because my car didn’t do a clever kickdown and had total power loss and at the same time the “LIM” no longer went. Mistake: – Lambda probe defective –> replaced – Air flow meter oiled –> cleaned + hoses rinsed Ok.. Then everything went again. Now, 1 week later, the same! LIM function no longer works (it just comes strokes and car beeps) and it no longer pulls, no more clever kickdown (only weeks later it shuts down) What can that be? 🙁 Thank you for your help! LG, Alex

  • I did… 🙂

Hello guys, I have already announced a few times here that I like the R231 MOPF super well and I ordered a SL500 last week. Configuration: – out of designo diamantweiss metallic – inside leather nappa exclusive porcelain – decorative elements ash black – 19″ AMG 5 spoke wheels – ABC – Magic Sky Control roof, airscarf, wind bulkhead, servo close – Keyless Go – HK Soundsystem – All assistance systems, Magic Vision Control, return camera, Parkpilot – Multi contour with ventilation, heating – DAB, comfort telephony and a few other little things. Delivery date was only June, now it is called diamantweiss is only possible from Q2 and that’s why it is now August … but my dealer tries to hold June. As soon as he is there I put pictures in. I swung between the SL and S-Cabrio for a while. With the latter the interior looks cool and modern but then looks kind of sterile. In addition, I don’t like a fabric roof and the SL simply me The SL is for me just the coolest car there is!!

  • R231 Charging socket

Hello, I’m going on with a separate thread here, so that I don’t fill the other one with OT. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the charging socket in my SL, but I often don’t use the car over the winter months. At my previous SL55 R230 I had the socket in the trunk switched on the comfort battery and connected the car to maintain the charging via a CTEK MXS 5.0. This would also be possible here in principle, since the car also has this 12V socket. I only plan B, because the SA 675 pre-equipment for battery charger is also possible with the R231. Question: Who has this feature and can set a photo and describe exactly where this socket is located? Does the cover in the trunk always have to be raised to the connection or does the charging cable go into place like this? Do you need a specific charger and/or cable for the CTEK MXS 5.0 (is compatible with the MB charger)? Thank you.

  • Purchase advice on motorization

Scared all together My concern is the following. I want to get a R129 preferably a 320 or 280 Vor Mopf or Ggf. Mopf 1 My question is the 280 undermotorized? Because I want to cruise and use the vehicle only for Sundays and if then relaxed long distance. I know the M119 from my W140 and E50 Amg is a super engine but then still too thirsty for me.

  • Which tyres fit best to the R 107: summer tyres, all-year tyres, brand tyres or cheap

Hello dear friends of the sheet metal, I have got myself a nice R 107, 380, 1985 year, red, gilded and the tires 205 70 R 14 on baroque rims have come into the years. Not Rissig but just old and harder. Now should be new on it and the question is which !!! Beautiful all weather white wall tires for 420 € for 4 pieces, Galaxy R 1, but are the what ? brand tires for over 200 € the piece, but do I need these for almost 700 km a year ? Cheap summer tires for 63 €/pcs. ( Maxxis), are these her Money worth entrusting his life ? Test reports are not so many for such an oldie tire, only suitable to other sizes. Therefore I have the question to the experienced hares , which Pneu fits to the R 107 ? ? ? Personally I would like to admit the white wall tires, as they are beautiful, fit to the car and are all year round tires ( I know: higher wear/softer rubber), but are these what ? I am happy about your competent opinion aud statements, Your Klaus of Jupiter. Thank you…

  • Fire extinguishers in SL MOPF

Small warning to all who want to configure an R231 MOPF and the fire extinguisher (682): In the price list (and also in the MB configurator) there is the hint: “Fire extinguisher mounted at the front of the driver’s seat”. I know for sure that this is not so! The fire extinguisher is still in the rear compartment with roller blind between the seats where it takes away valuable storage space.

  • SL in an underground garage without power supply 4 months silent

Dear community, since I did not move my SL 350 (2007) for 4 months in winter, I have disconnected both batteries, because of the lack of a socket, and could nevertheless successfully start again in March. My procedure: First of all, make sure that the emergency key (fits in the vehicle key) opens the locked boot lid mechanically! (see also manual) I only did this with the emergency key of the spare key. If it is not possible, you may not Do not close the trunk later! In a collection garage like in my case a problem. Then you need another solution and should not read any more here. If one of the emergency keys works on the boot lid, it goes as follows: 1. Terminal the starter battery in the engine compartment first. 10 key required. First carefully clamp the minus pole, then the plus pole. I have both wrapped each with an old piece of cloth so that it can not come to metal 2. Close the bonnet and doors (not the boot lid) and lock the vehicle by central locking. 3. Now release the consumer battery in the boot and clamp it off. First the minus pole, then the plus pole. Both wrap with a piece of cloth each so that they can’t come to metal. 4. Now you can close the boot lid. (If the emergency key has been tested positively as above) This means that the SL is completely closed and Wint is able to I was worried if the batteries had enough voltage after a good 4 months because I didn’t use any charger. Did they. The spring awakening. 1. Open the boot lid with the emergency key. 2. Connect the consumer battery again. First Plus – then Minus. 3. If you press “Open” on the key, the central locking should work again. With me the the theft siren went on, but after renewed pressure on the key so 4. Now unlock the bonnet and connect the starter battery again. First plus – then minus 5th hood and start the car quite normally. With me a few lights went on and the time was wrong, otherwise there were no problems. Everything worked perfectly. Even the radio stations were still there. The lights went out again after a few meters drive on their own. As I said, so I did it and will do it again next winter. It is just my He But I don’t take any responsibility for other vehicles.

  • Tyres with emergency running characteristics

Had already asked the question in another thread, but it probably went down there. So here again: There are also these “tires with emergency running characteristics” (R66): Short description With a tire breakdown, tires with emergency running characteristics do not have to be changed immediately. A further drive is possible without great comfort losses – depending on the load up to 80 km far with a maximum speed of 80 km/h. 416,50 Euro Does anyone have experience with the parts? nd harder than normal tires, which also reduces suspension comfort (but probably doesn’t matter with ABC). Then the rolling resistance is higher, which would mean higher chipping consumption. See also herehttp://www.mercedes-benz.de/…/advantages_tyres.html
