  • Switching from SLK to Smart Convertible – should I really do it?

Hello together, certainly we one or the other with my thread title tremendously shake with the head. Just think seriously, from my SLK200K Edition 10 BJ 02.2007 to a Smart Cabrio with the 84PS machine and Pulse equipment with Brabus package. The background is explained quickly. Bin MB factory member and must now leave my follow-up order for March. The SLK is already a really nice car and is also a lot of fun. With a SLK follow-up order I would au The smart would cost me a good 250€/month or 3000€/year less and find this a lot of money. So the question arises, how much “less” or maybe even more driving fun does the smart offer? My wife drives another 102 hp golf, so it would be the end of 230 on the highway. But for transporting the golf is certainly enough. Look forward to your opinions and comments. Maybe someone has the comparison of both Vehicles, unfortunately, only know the old smart…

  • Call for help: SLK clutch…!?

Hello people, search useful tips and pictures for the following: I own a 97-inch SLK 230, now I notice that the clutch slips before everything when starting in the morning (after coupling the gear slips very late in) … which I also noticed in the summer: a ringing noise of the clutch (as soon as I enter the clutch there is nothing to hear) ….after some searching on the Internet I suspect that the ringing noise of the wear-out now my question: – I assume that the coupling has to be renewed now? – I want to renew the coupling myself – which parts do I have to renew (complete clutch set including out-out bearings, possible seals, clutch oil etc?) – what do I have to consider, what is the procedure? – Can I do the repair in my garage with limited movement space (in other words: how high do I have to take the SLK up to do these works? u can)? – Who has experience with it? Thank you very much in advance for your useful tips and possible pictures! Sincerely from Holland, Bob

  • CL 55 AMG W215 brake light constantly on even during driving, helpeeeeeee

Hello everyone, I’ve registered here and already a problem I drive a CL 55 AMG BJ 11/01 I’m actually very happy with my car but I have a problem My brake light is constantly shining, even during the ride. I’ve already changed the brake light switch, so that’s not it. If I take out a small 5 he secure at the front it works quite normal again but then my power steering becomes a bit more difficult. Please for your help. Thank you in advance…

  • 19 or 20 inches… that’s the question.

Well… I’d like to mount the RS8 rim from Lorinser (turbine design, see photo) on my SL 55. But I’m unscathed if I should take 19 inches (because of the comfort) or 20 inches (because of the optics). On my last one I had the 19 inches version and was absolutely satisfied by the comfort. Thought even that there was still a bit of air to drive possibly even 20 inches. But now I’ve never driven a R230 with 20 inches tire. I would therefore be at subjective Ein druecken/Experiences interested, from drivers with 20 inch tyres. I would also be interested, which tires one could use, in order to have it with the size still to the maximum “soft” (there should be also again immense differences). Please help me, since I would like to order the wheel set on Tuesday and actually have decided until then.

  • SLK32AMG —- Small things

Hello together. Have a few small defects with my SLK. Maybe one or the other can help me here. 1) If I stand at the traffic light at the inserted driving stage the speed is pushed so far into the cellar that the engine even runs a little rough. According to the workshop they can’t set anything ect., because all this does the control unit. Only I can’t really believe that you can’t do anything there. Maybe there’s one or the other 32A here. MG driver, who can see if his car reacts exactly like this. 2) Every now and then, when I turn on the ignition, I have a disgusting, loud whistle noise that comes from the radio. It only takes a quarter to half a second, and then the music comes. Has anyone had this before? I have the navigation radio in it. Thank you. Gruss Jürgen

  • Experience with distance discs

Hello all, I have 10mm distance discs on my SL55 rear. Actually, this looks quite good, but 15 mm would be optically ideal. Has someone installed 15mm windows in the rear? Has someone installed distance discs in the front? my Mercedes-master advised me for the front of it, otherwise one swims constantly in the lanes. Is this true?? I am not only about the optics, it should also be easily mobile. Maybe someone can help me further. VG von Ulrich

  • 2 Questions from a potential SL55 buyer

Hello together ! In the past I have driven around more in the W211 ‘er corner (E500 AMG ). Now that I have looked at the SL55 AMG ‘s again and I have already driven test I have the following questions. Maybe the one or the other is so nice and writes me a “helpful” answer 1. Is it really normal that the compressor coupling (well when coupling) squeaks ? Is this always like this or only at the first years of construction ? Does not sound really healthy and also not sportlic h an //tastesache// 2. A vehicle from 06/02 (500hp model) had no engine badge of the AMG screwdriver (not meaning devalued). Does this mean on an AT machine or from when the motoes were equipped with it. To my understanding It is not about having a badge, but to prevent Schmu/Schchiss bez. Engine replacement. Should probably have been necessary at the beginning of the BR more often ….. Many greetings KRAUSEKAULI

  • Every day stands in….

Selling or buying used classics on the internet is an act of suffering. After months someone has had pity to take over my BMW 635 CSI, against a discount….always. So I am now back in the buyer’s role. What is the object of desire? A 500 SL year 90-92! What else? Where else do you get so much car for the money besides the Phaeton? A short look at mobile.de or autoscout shows the classic picture: There are no cheap used cars Andersrum are regularly on the road some dream dancers, who wait for months – in individual cases even for years – for the stupid ones. I say only Porsche 944 S2 from Hürth, or even better, the 300SL, which is supposedly rated by the 129 club president with 25,000 €…. After a small odyssey I finally got to a Bavarian scrap house…oopss automobile recycler. Freely after Ottfried Fischer I got a bored “Mey, if they take de Benz for the Prais ned, donn ni What now? There he is in the garage, the Benz. 12 years ago with 120.000 km bought from the senior of the company and in the meantime drove 7,500km with red numbers, so that the mileage adapts to the age. Whether there really were all oil changes made there? Checkbook? Aähhhh….”Mey, mer san’s all car mechanics. De Benz hamma made himself, if ma was wor”. Cold running controller of course not installed, cover has folds at the side, in the engine room is the cover to the passenger cell is severely damaged, on the underbody there are holes in the rubber covers and the rear bumper looks like Parkrempler. Do I pay 2,000 over condition 2? Should I even be at the end of the stupid? Always these difficult decisions.

  • New purchase: I ask for your advice

Hello together, so far I have always been only a co-reader here in the forum. But now I would be very pleased if you could give some advice with maybe one or the other or even express your opinion about my project. For some time I have been looking for an R 107 and this is exactly the way I did:http://suchen.mobile.de/…/194843561.html?… The contract is created by ordering (i.e. also purchase price payment) I find the price extremely attractive (maybe too attractive?). as well as the car is of course a “surprise egg”, because I could not shed any recessions. References: Missing. Then: A car exported to Japan is not a 560SL? I had not seen yet. A return settlement – when paid for first – can prove difficult. On the other hand, not always the bad boy has to be behind everything. Has any of you experiences with such order imports – I would be grateful for every tip!. Thank you and best regards

  • What to note when buying R129 500SL?

Hello everyone, I’m new to this SL forum, and I don’t know much about the R129. My father would like to get one now, and I wondered if there is a list of the heavy maengels in the forum, or a kind of checklist, with typical weak spots of the model, which should be examined. The target is a 500 SL from 1992, with about 130tkm, first possession. Thanks to everyone! I would have had a special question. Is it normal that you can help a bit when closing the deck? Is it normal that after 130tkm the seats (leathers) are already quite sitting through, and the left side of the seat is quite distasteful? Or could this be an indication of a tachodriver?
