  • Deficiencies in my R231 SL 500

    So dear friends, now there are a few informations or a short report of my new SL 500 type R231! Car I got as already mentioned 3 weeks ago in Bremen! Of course on this day again a TOP BEGEISTERUNG was to be felt with me, where however again I have become negligent again… Now report about the defects: tank socket is installed wrongly (8mm to 10mm ca) steering wheel deviates by about 1 degree and does not exactly disguise in the trunk very badly installed and falls off.. 12V connection in the trunk (as well as the disguise) very poorly installed, makes no good impression! and the connection is very bad accessible for the battery care device….. Otherwise the car (from the engine) makes a lot of fun (1500 km)! The consumption (what GOD SEI DANK EGAL IS) is by longer less than in the R230 SL 500!!! With similar or the same driving method good 2 liters!!!!!!

  • Elevated power difference SL350/ SL500 ?

    Evening, there are great power differences between the SL350 (245hp) and the SL500 (306hp) BJ 2004-2006? The 350, as I got with the 500er only with 2 cut-off cylinders. From the data sheet the vehicles separate nevertheless almost 2 sec. from 0-100 km/h. Because this hardly occurs actually irrelevant. Do both engines have the 5th gear transmission? Unfortunately I only know the 350er, because my father has an S350 L 4-M. With this car I find the engine in some speed ranges too sluggish. Thanks already in advance. Greetings Mondi

    I’ve been looking for a 500 sl for a long time and I’ve stumbled on this forum.now I’ve discovered one at a dealer with 143000 km bj 91 4 hand.allegedly, the car has been driven by a businessman (insolvence) and the letter was located on the bánk.where the car was picked up had to be opened by mercedes (by kofferaum ) because he probably didn’t open with key.stand long in a deep garage and the battery was completely empty.jetz opens the cover no longer and tacho and tank display no longer work.What can be the worst thing about me? the car looks very well cared for inside as well as outside and is supposed to cost 7000.is a review made by an expert.the vehicle is supposed to run blameless.I just bammel the battery caused a short by mud and since a pile of platinums are shot through.

  • A funny question “R129 6 cylinders and Porsche Boxster – repair costs”??

    Hello was in the Porsche center a few days ago. In company my SL and a good student friend. My student friend is Porschefan – I as well known R129 fan. But we still get along very well. His dream is a Porsche Boxster Bj 98…should still cost around 16,000 EUR. So we fired the seller with questions among others the chapter repair / workshop costs. The seller laughed – and said on it: “Here has already become a lot of a customer in terms of payment – usually goes quickly into the thousands!” From that moment we saw the beginner Porsche with other eyes. Easy dismay I felt at the study friend. He replied to the seller: “Is the Sl of my friend in terms of maintenance under the line cheaper (new price much higher about 25,000 EUR more for the SL!)??? Then the seller (or consultant) replied: “Can one say with all certainty – if no V8 or even V12!!”. ****Is this statement correct – in comparison with a Porsche Boxster?

  • Winter: Drive the R129 in dry and nice weather?

    Hello Would you like to ask who gets his R129 out of the garage in dry and nice weather even in winter. I want to move my SL something so that the battery does not unload and the tires do not get standing plates. Our roads are not yet so heavily polluted with salt and I think as long as the SL is not wet we should not mind the bit of salt. What do you do in the long winter months, simply do without the SL?     Hello, would like to buy me as a second car a 300 SL (12 valve) from Bj 1992! The car is well maintained and has full equipment incl. car phone! KM performance: 132000 km! The bagoboards are painted despite the year of construction in car color(black)! The engine is actually techn. not bad! But the KE-Jetronic is also quite covertly covered up (stow disc poti,…)! The initial problems of the engine 103 regarding camshaft wear is probably no longer present at this year of construction,or? What is the durability of the old 4-stage automatic? On what do I have to pay attention to? Is it true that the 300 24 V is somewhat problematic regarding cylinder head seal etc…! Would you prefer this engine to the old 12 V? Which injection system has the 24 V? Thank you, David

  • SL55 Gear question…

    Hello, I drove a SL55 Amg today and when I happened something very strange at one time and again. At the time of acceleration only the speed went up at once, but without transferring the power. Something like that has never happened before. So I wanted to know if this could possibly indicate a gear damage ect.? Then I went into N position and left the car a bit rolling and then back in D. but it still didn’t work. Only after a retrace of this formwork procedure it went again. Did this somehow frightening and wanted to know if something like that can happen or if something seems to be wrong.

  • 320SL (R129) Euro2 manufacturer’s certificate

    Hello, I have recently been owner of a 320SL Bj 95. Unfortunately the vehicle is still registered with the key number 14 (=Euro 1). After intensive search (googling I have found by now, which the vehicle has already from factory Euro 2, but for the re-encryption is necessary but a manufacturer certificate is necessary (why the previous owner did not make it is creepy to me, has probably money to give away). According to the name Mercedes representative can get me this certificate, but that should cost me 50,-€ ! The road traffic office however also satisfied with a copy of this certificate. Unfortunately I could find such a one on the net only for other models (W124). Does anyone here have such a certificate, which he can scan and send to me? Already many thanks Günter

  • Can the inspection date be extended or not?

    We purchased a R 230 in October 2011, first registration in 09/2010, 4,500 km on the clock. Before delivery, the first inspection was made in October 2011, i.e. 13 months after the first registration. Although the inspection interval is 25,000 km/max 12 months, the mouse cinema already registered in September 2012 for an inspection. The vehicle is a so-called “Young Stars” car. The inspection was carried out due to vacation only in October 2012, i.e. a little later. If one looks into the conditions of the “Young Stars Warranty”, then it is recorded that the inspection date can be exceeded by 1 month, a maximum of 1,000 km. I mailed the center of DB in Berlin in this regard. This is on the point of view, the year date, here 09/2012, should not have been exceeded in any case. My contract workshop as well as the conditions of the above mentioned “Young Stars Warranty”. Incredibly, the interlocutor in Berlin was not aware of this deviating determination in the “Young Stars Guarantee” on demand at all. How do you see this? Do you keep penance?
