Hello dear members, heard today from my workshop that the ignition cables that control valves/cylinders at the engine ( 320SL , year 1994 , from 2002 Prinsgasanlage ) , must be renewed . The cables that go directly to the engine to the individual cylinders are crumbling, porous and thus not ignite among others 4th and 6th cylinders , restless running etc. Had any of you heard of this cable problem – normally age-related to the R129 or exception ? Or is it a special that by the operation of the Gas system has been created (higher temperatures in gas operation)? What recommendation can you give me to prevent premature cable wear again? On Super RTL the movie “Prinz William” just ran. In this film Princess Diana drives a R129 !? Is that really true? Did she actually (privately) have a SL? If yes, which model ? I know there are more important questions; but I would be interested.

Moin I’ve got an SL R230 equestrian must still be done some water damage now I have a few questions what documents I need I have the Salvage Certificate the safety certificate with customs stamp then I still have the data card but I don’t believe the card where all the Dachnische dates are out of it don’t know what their name is . and can tell me ever what I have to remodel light Tacho or so defend over help Grateful greeting Peter

Tip to buy W230
Hello dear SL community, I’m new here and hope that some pros among you can give me valuable tips for buying. I’m already wearing a W230 for some time. It’s supposed to be a 350. My budget is 1500€ I have to say that I’m a screwdriver myself and actually do everything myself where you don’t need a lift. What I already know is that I can’t do the brakes myself. But, the SL exists, Can you give me a couple of tips on what I should watch if I look at one? Wouldn’t it be bad if I were to get some food from you.

Motor makes noise SL500 R231
Hello guys, I’ve had a SL500 R231 BJ 2013 for 1.5 years with now 42000 kilometers on the speedometer. The car is checked and the last inspection was three months ago at Mercedes. I notice a noise when starting. https://youtu.be/afkf75mFtJU This noise never occurs when the engine is cold or when the engine is hot. The noise only occurs after the car has been driven and so it has stood for two to four hours, so it is still a bit warm. Ic h please for help, what can this be? Oil pump or control chain tensioner? Performance R 129?
Hello dear SL community, I’ve been playing for 2 years with the idea of getting an R 129. I tend to be an M104 for several reasons. I’ve been working on buying advice at the R129 club now, so I’m starting to do nails with my head. I’ve been watching the market for 2 years and I’ve been feeling that the prices for usable R129 are getting so slow and the first ones that already want to have “collector prices” of over 30,000€ for their SL appear. On the other hand, You can still “shoot” good specimens for 13,000. What do you think? What can a good R 129 cost? What does it have to cost? What is important to me is that it is technically healthy! I can overlook traces of age. It should only be stainless and technically healthy. It does not have to have a collector’s condition 1+. How will the value develop in the next few years? Thank you for your help in advance. 🙂

r129 does not start
hello people, I’m new in the sl corner and I would have to take your expert help… I have a r129 bj.93 3,2l 231ps and the gutte now has 293tkm on the clock, my problem is that he now does not start after the winter break (bat. is freshly loaded) a bit more precise … when I start the ignition it starts to beep (peep…peep…peep…) the whole goes so 30 sec. and is then still shining through the cover control (changer middle console) I turn d so far as the starter is supposed to start, no no cracking no turning at all … does anyone have any idea or do I have to read out to the star ? mfg

zv pump and vario roof do not work!!
hello together! my car stood about 4 months, now nothing more zv does not work and the roof does not work either. troubles in the tacho workshop look up and this yellow lamp with the lock lights… battery in the suitcase room can not be fully charged! have now installed a comfort battery of a vw phaeton transitionally…(is full) fuses are all ok! no water or moisture in the suitcase aum, both pumps incl. filters are obviously in order. anyone a e idea? before I use 850€ for a new pump?? zv pump and control with 12v? gruss

What radio do you want?
Hello from Austria! my original radio (Mercedes Spezial) in the 500SL (R129) unfortunately slowly gives up the spirit. Now I am looking for a suitable replacement. I would actually have a Becker Grand Prix 7990 in mind, that should fit from the design to the SL. Can someone recommend something to me? Or does someone have experience with the Becker Radio, or does anyone know if the original installed CD changer fits the new Becker Radio, the original Mercedes Radio is as far as I know also a Becker? R 129 roof is not working
Hello together, I’m new here and I’ve fulfilled a dream by buying an SL 500 Bj. 8/92. The vehicle was standing for some time in a shed and was not moved. I had customer service and so on done and intensively occupied myself with the roof, which does not work automatically. Here is the error description: ECU clicks, windows go down when pressing the top switch, then it doesn’t go any further, when withdrawing the switch go the When driving it does thing …., if you clamp something into the switch, the rear part of the cover is pulled down and after a few seconds the red lamp goes off at the switch (if it is stuck to the front). In this condition the rollover bar does not work when you press the switch. I opened the roof manually today, then drove off and again thing…, then I pulled the cover switch back (open) it click on the button and the lamp on the switch was off. Even when driving the thing was gone :-), the rollover bar now also worked by means of a switch. If I have now moved the top switch in closing position the lid opened and further nothing happened, then in opening position and the lid was closed again. Dear community of the SL drivers, can you help me????????? I am grateful for every advice, of course I have the topic with the deep reset of the Control unit already tested, but unfortunately did not work. Who knows how to flash out the fault memory, it is a 16 pole diagnostic plug installed?? Greetings and thank you
