  • Steering wheel change to AMG with paddle (shift paddle)

Hello I bought and replaced an SL 500 R230 Built 09/2004 with 7G transmission and me an AMG steering wheel with shift paddles. My old steering wheel was heated. It went a cable from the dashboard to the steering wheel behind the airbag where a small box sits. From the box run the cables into the steering wheelheitzung … that was the old stand. Now I mounted the AMG steering wheel and had to notice that the cables from the shift paddles do not fit into the small box, so I researched.. the d I could now weave it from an accident SL 55 and would like to build it up next week. my question does that work at all? Is the supply line to the box also for the seesaws to use so a bus cable or just a power supply? Did anyone ever try this? would be great if someone could help me further

  • SL300 / 129 – New fabric roof

Our SL 300 from 11/1992 with only approx. 84.000 km has a perfectly working fabric roof, which is also good with regard to the fabric – in which however the rear two side small Kunsstoffdisks and also the Kunsstoffrückscheibe at the kink place has small cracks. With well adhered black and transparent Tesa I closed the cracks, which also the superficial optics does not completely break down. However, this should not remain a permanent solution. a question: Does anyone have experience with a new fabric roof for this year of construction ? Exchange only the rear damaged part or the whole roof ? Cost ? Have made with DB or elsewhere ? U.a.m. I am grateful for any hint.

  • Refueling: Only with a pump on the right, or sometimes on the left?

Hello together, many people put your vehicle when refueling always so that the pump is at the same side as the tank cover (with German cars as well as the SL this is usually right, with Japanese m.W. mostly left). Since usually to the right of the pump is rather space, I often also place myself there and lead the pump gun with hose then just over the trunk around to the tank cover. Usually this is also no problem as long as the hose pulls out How do you handle this? On this subject, I thought of a question to the pump guns technicians: Is the sensor, which provides for the automatic shut-off, not at the bottom of the regular gun and when it is turned into the tank sockets (if you are just right of the pump) rather above, so that the gun should then switch off later and the tank should become fuller. If, depending on the tank geometry, the tank is still in width at the level of the filler nozzle and not only the nozzle comes out at the top? This would perhaps explain steady deviations between the on-board computer display and the calculated consumption in part.

  • Water loss SL 320 R6 R129

Hello! Have a SL 320 R 6 BJ 96 with not even 47500 km. Now I had to wait a few days with the car with running engine 8 minutes before the gas station. Since then always the yellow lamp goes on that lacks cooling water. I then refilled the cooling water level and after a short ride again about 25% of the cooling water content is missing. I then refilled again and now the same amount is missing again, where it will then no longer be less. What can be the reason for this and what to do? Thank you for your help. Best wishes for the day The Australian

  • SL 55 with strange keyless go problem

I use my SL55 (July 2002) only with Keyless-Go. After some electronic-related workshop stays I now have the following problem: If I park and lock the car and come back within 4 hours, then I can open the door normally, sit in it, and start the engine with the first push on the start button. No problem. If I come back after more than 4 hours, then I can also open the door normally, but at the first push on the star The key symbol comes in the display and the display “keys not recognized”. Only when I press the start button a second time, the engine starts. The difference is quite exactly 4 hours, i.e. after 3.5 hours of standstill, the engine starts regularly the first time, and after 4.5 hours never. It may sound crazy, but it annoys me very much. For the workshop the problem should be very difficult, because they only get a maximum try al Is there a problem like this before or does anyone know anything about it? Thank you. Falk Kuebler

  • SL 230: noise from the roof

Hello, my parents drive a SL350 and have been having an extreme noise coming from the roof for several weeks. Some of us also have the impression that there is a leak, because after a heavy rain in the trunk a wet spot can be seen. My question: Does someone have to struggle with problems on the roof? Year of construction is 2005. Thank you in advance.

  • Sewing the rear window yourself, who has experience

Hello guys, an acquaintance now also has the beloved problem with torn rear windows in the 129er, but unfortunately no TK. Now he wants to buy the Wopavin with sewing equipment and installation instructions at ebay for 110 Euro and sew the windows himself. Does any of you have experiences with it? Greetings

  • SL600 – ASR comes sporadic; ASR and ABS at the start

Hello experts For some time I have the following effect:Effect 1: When I take gas completely away, for example on 100km sometimes comes 10x, sometimes 1x, sometimes never the ASR lamp and the machine goes into the emergency run. It is to 99% always when I take the gas completely away, quite rarely under cruise control. Question 1: Is there any idle switch in the electronic pedal that does nonsense here or what else? Have Googled and hinted towards brake light switch and synchronity of the throttle The most recent effect is that he has the Macke to light the ASR and the ABS lamp at the same time, but without going into the emergency run. For example, if he has started the third time, this effect won’t come any more. Question 2: Does anyone have an idea or a tip here? Thank you for all the tips and hints Clancy600 (mostly satisfied 600 riders)

  • Aruba is back, driving report

Good evening, dear friends, although this has little to do with the SL;…. nevertheless, I had said I would say a few words about the ascension (overpass) of a C 5 from Bruessel to Marbella. I drove 2,140 km once slept at the Spanish border and was on the road once. Total driving time 25 hours. We want to mention for the sake of fairness that it was only a motorway and a brand new diesel vehicle. ( Automatic ) The car is running 5.5 liters. From Marbella via Algeciras by boat to Tangier,… from Tangier to Sète ( near Marseille ) 30 hours ship (route below the Balearic Islands ) high seas and dubious cabinmates. A Legionaer, a Jesuit, and a Greek shipping agent. In Tangier it is even worse than the television images show. Black refugees en masse. The Spanish authorities are armed to the stage and very much , very nervoes. In Sète I was picked up and drove back home. Rarely have I been so happy to see my car again. What not to do for money and good words. Now I ride again bike, the SL and the Micra. Should someone have a question… Please ! ? Best greetings.

  • Plastic frame on side panels: discoloured?

Hello, my black R231 has a black plastic frame around the side windows, i.e. a thicker one at the bottom of the windows and a thinner one at the top around the back. Now I noticed unfortunately, that after the vehicle got wet by rain and then dried again in the sun, are partly discoloured and look “cheeked”. Also a car wash and post-polishing with a microfibre cloth do not provide any remedy. You can only see it in daylight, and it looks superal Is that the same with other R231 drivers, and regardless of that, are these strips always black or in the colour of the car?
