  • SL500 with AMG exhaust (SL55) pipe diameter different

Hello I have a Sl500 with AMG package incl. exhaust system and Sl55 rear cutout. Since the end pot is indeed for the big engine 5.5L , it is also better insulated and the exhaust really hardly noticeable. One only hears the engine at the front back virtually nothing comes out. Since I now want to change a small thing (so no modification where one the hearing aid fell out of the ears only a discreet duller sound ) I examined the exhaust now and had to establish that the pipe through the there are different coarses not measured on the sockets the tube in front of the cat 55mm behind the cat also 55mm Before the MSD 55mm after the MSD 65mm before the ESD 65mm after the ESD 4 x 120mm end tubes on which stands AMD On the picture the MSD was put wrongly but I did not take this into account and the schematically labeled. That would mean that I could theoretically build the AMG back or? So from Kat then a normal MSD and ESD with the tube diameter 55mm or do I see this wrong? Maybe someone here has done something like this before and has the one or the other tip for me

  • SL 500 – Your opinion

Hello dear SL friends After I was so nice and detailed advised by you in my last post, I closed this chapter with the gap masses. I have now discovered a new object: SL 500 BJ 11/2006 KM 110’000 silver ext / red int I have inquired about all the important things that would be there: Checkbook=ok available and tracked Number of previous owners=2 StarClass Warranty=ok Engine number= 273965-30-102608 Haven’t visited the car yet, since not exactly in the vicinity (190km). Actually, it all sounds pretty good. At least the M273 problem should not be a topic here. What about the ABC. How does this fit in with the mileage? What does this look like with your models? From when do repairs have to be done here? Thank you for your competent help and suggestions.

  • Is the ABC suspension balancing slanting ?

Good evening . Or good morning . I have had the problem since anyway and ever that the left side of my vehicle rises and lowers itself in the stand . The vehicle hardly moves any more moments , so I put it today by means of coupling rods lower ( now please do not kill why I made düs first ) now I have the problem (?!) that the whole car goes up ^^ Can it be that the chassis in the stand compensates for any slanting position ? Means, maybe my chassis is false from the beginning ? ch set up and the system constantly tries to balance something in the stand? Can this work? Does the chassis have such a function? If yes…. What can I do? Adjust all coupling rods exactly to the MM first and then go to Mercedes and calibrate? Or how does it work? I do not assume any defect.

  • Which sports exhaust for an R230

Hello! I’m new here and wanted to introduce myself briefly. My name is Stefan am 45 years old and I’ve been driving an SL 500 R230 for almost a year. I’ve got 20 inches of aluminum. Now I’m looking for a sports exhaust to get a reasonable (not excessive) V8 sound. It would be really great if you would share your experiences with me. I’m happy. Many greetings from Stefan from Worpswede / Niedersachsen

  • Telephone in SL 500 R 230 Built 6/2002

Hello community, I got such a nice piece and can’t find a mistake at all……if I didn’t… at the big auction house a nearly “unplayed” Nokia 6310 got and put into the holder. Then that,…… there he is, the first and only mistake of my SL 500 year 6/2002: My command tells me very confidently “phone starts” if I look after 30 minutes has not really done something. Does anyone have an idea? Many greetings from the Emsland KLAUS

  • Linguatronic Full-word entry in Switzerland

Hello colleagues, I’m new here and I have the following question (… and so far I haven’t found a clear answer): I live in Switzerland and I got a SL350 (R230, 2009, Mopf II). As it turns out, this is a vehicle originally sold/approved in DE, which Linguatronic has installed in the Comand. Therefore, the entire electronics in the vehicle is set to DE (according to MB there is some country code for the whole vehicle. g applies…). Problem: Town & street names can currently only be entered for German destinations in full word entry (i.e. without having to spell everything). Although the system language of the command is set to German, and we also speak this language here. If I now choose the country “Switzerland” when entering a destination, Comand tells me with “whole word entry not possible”! Can someone tell me why this is so and how I use the whole word entry additionally (or alternatively) for Switzerland? I assume that the digital data for a Swiss full-word entry is already available on the system (or at least can be played with a card update). I have contacted several MB garages here, but unfortunately so far unsuccessful – no one could help me without having to raise money for an “try” without a guarantee of success. I was assured, however, that with new vehicles sold in Switzerland, a whole-word so at least the digital data on (newer?) card DVDs should be available. Thanks for the help, Christoph

  • SL 55 AMG import from USA ???

Hello, would like to buy a Mercedes SL 55 AMG from my uncle soon. The car would cost me about 25000 €. • CL 500 Corrosion

Hello, have bought a CL 500 BJ 12/2002 W 215 used almost 2 years ago at 33,500 km for 40,000 €. Now I read before the next service in the inspection booklet that in 05/2006 a body repair took place at 31,5000 km. On request at the branch I was informed that it would have been only painting work for the elimination of corrosion damage (no accident). Probably the corwing was affected at the rear and the C-pillar. If I knocked off the left C-pillar e sounds different than the right. My questions: Where does corrosion come from after 3-4 years with a car that has a new price of over 100,000 € and do I have to worry?? Thanks for opinions and comments.

  • Short introduction: another enthusiastic new owner SL 320

I would like to introduce myself briefly, my name is Rudi, until 48 years old, married, 2 children. Since yesterday I am proud owner of an SL 320 Built 94, 2nd hand, 130Tkm. With this car type I have loved for a long time, which the purchase but became reality so quickly, was already by chance (unhoped often comes). In short, my work colleague bought a SL 350 (bj. 2002) and sold me his SL for 10,500 €. The car was very well cared for by his predecessor and him (no rain, snow). ee, etc). I was able to get some good advice from this forum and would like to contribute my experiences here in the future. The problem with the windscreen wiper, which runs only at level 3, I was able to fix very quickly with the hints from the forum, thank you!!!! Next is the purchase of a new exhaust system (stainless steel, company Ernst, middle and rear silencer) and the installation of a gas system. I will report on both projects. So until then … Greeting: Rudi

  • Alternator/control unit at SL 500 R129 Built 1993

Hello, this morning after starting and opening the roof, the battery light and the lamp for ASR and ABS suddenly lit up, the engine’s gas consumption was delayed. The engine “saws” in idle mode. Immediate workshop visit; after the diagnosis of the Daimler customer service, the controller of the alternator was broken and an output voltage of 18 volts was measured. It could also be that a control unit was broken; however, this can only be determined if the light mschin e. Alternator exchange: 900 Euro, control unit only material costs of 2500 Euro. I was quite impressed by that – I bought the car two years ago and since then I drove about 8000 km. In itself I have confidence in my workshop, but here I would like to ask once in the round, if this sounds plausible for you ? Also, about the costs? Who has had such a thing on his car before? Gruss Wolfram 1
