  • different belt drives R170 230K and question about Wapu

Hello, it’s condensing. I’m probably going to bring the SLK to me next week or the next week, which my colleague offered me. There’s something pretty bad in the front of the air compressor (metallic rattles/circuits). I suspect either the magnetic coupling of the air compressor or the complete compressor. It’s going to show up. If I’m already there, then there’s completely new belts and pull-off/spin rollers. The front belt (for Lima and air compressor) is available in different variants (1330 mm and 1873 mm). Looking purely optically, I can hardly imagine that the front belt should also be nearly as long as the rear belt. Can anyone confirm the 1330 mm? I mean, I could of course measure the old belt when I use the car. but wanted to prepare/inform me in the best possible way. Maybe one more question: The car is year 1998 and has (real and understandable) 90,000 km down. Leave water pump or make right with it? Greeting Jürgen

  • Oil loss and burnt odour (SLK R171; M271; 200 compressor)

Hello together, since a short time we notice on our Mercedes SLK 200 compressor (motor code M271) a (significant) oil loss and strong burnt smell in the interior as soon as the engine was warmed up. By the search for forums we quickly found the valve cover seal as possible error cause. Since the spark plug shafts were already – like the complete VDD – all around oily and the oil was already on the sheet above the exhaust engine, we have these first together with the Unfortunately, the actual problem (oil loss/burnt smell) could not be solved. Already after a short drive the engine pushes the oil still on the side of the mudguard of the exhaust manifold. Where exactly the oil comes from is very difficult to locate. Although the VDD is now completely dry, however, the oil already stands after a short engine life on the sheet and forms an oil puddle. For easier description I have n This was created shortly after cleaning, so that there is not much oil visible – the supposed focus of the leak I circled around you red – by the wind the oil is probably pushed further backwards in the direction of the arrow. In addition, as described at the beginning, the burnt smell in the interior. I thought at first that this would be caused by the oil dripping on the hot exhaust manifold – when the engine is running however to note that the visible smoke rises from below – possibly at the height of the cats. Does someone happen to have an idea or are there experiences of users who had a similar problem? Thank you 🙂

  • SLK 200 R171: Mirror flasher

Hello together, I have to change both mirror lights, because they pulled water. It would be important for me to replace them with black mirror lights so that they match the color of the car. Has anyone done this already and which would you recommend me to do? Greetings and a nice evening!

  • To buy SLK?

Hello, I’ve been in BMW warehouse since 2002. At the moment we have a 5 and a 118iA as a second car driving my wife. Jetz I think to buy a Mopf SLK 280 automatic and to use the car also for summer holidays in Europe. We had 10 Mercedes before BMWs and the last were so bad that it is now still difficult to buy a car with star. My question is, how is the quality today? With BMWs we mainly needed only normal service, no other workshop besuc When I buy a SLK 280, it will be something different than six years ago when our MBs, a W203 220CDiA and a W168 140A were regularly in workshops 1-3 times a month? I would like to buy the car with EZ 6-9/2008 in Germany as an annual or factory car with 5-10tkm in Tacho. I would like to read honest faces how the SLKs of today work. Thanks and greetings from Finland Jukka

  • SLK 280 Utopian insurance contribution

Hi, since I may be known (purchase of a SLK 280) I am close to the purchase. Now a blow hit me today! Since I have a company and I am self-employed I wanted to report the SLK 280 as a third car of course VK to the Allianz. Since my other two cars (BMW 520d, Mercedes Vito) are quite cheap in the insurance, I thought of a “normal” price range. The alliance man made me an “offer” in the amount of 7109.09 € annually and d He said that this was a luxury class (SLK) and the engine was also quite happy in the insurance, because 231ps and 3L displacement. What decides except that he is third-party car in the contribution? That I park him publicly or where is really put on it with the contributions? How are for example CLK coupe, A5 and 3er Coupe taxed? Are these like the SLK on “Coupe” thus “luxury class” to be found or are the quite normal cars, which like my 5er completely “normal” handle So 7,100,- I don’t spend every year in life, I can afford a new VW Polo every year with the insurance contribution. How do you see it? Do you pay as much and it seems to me as much or what is going on? please clarify me.

  • ON MONDAY, THE 350 is coming

on Monday I finally pick up my car! I had already posted that I had two cars to choose from which 100,000 and 170,000 ran. I decided not to buy any of these cars because I got an end 2005 built 350er with 7gtronic etc offered and decided for this one. the car has run 9000 km and I get it for 21,000 euro net. whereby it should be said that the dealer is a long-time friend of my father. the only thing that is for the car is missing is the arscarf system. comand, soundpacket, schaltpaddles, command with dvd changer, thermotronic, obsidianblack, black leather seats etc. is the airscarf-s. so important or so incredibly comfortable and more pleasant as often to read ? should the slk the airscarf-s. absolutely have ? the main question of this thread it should be but how much I would have to pay for the bodykit of the new slk55 amg ? the new slk 55 amg bodykit has front this new distinctive pointed front apron w elche did it to me right ! this bodykit I would want to upgrade directly . where do I get this at all ? I hope you can help me further

  • SLK 350 or SLK 55?

Moin friends, will sell my CLK W209 at the end of the year and then get me a SLK. As it looks like, it will be a 350, and the 55s will also appeal to me, primarily because of the V8. Did any of you have any experience with the two vehicles? For me, this looks like there is no big difference anymore. 305 vs. 360 hp, and the AMG weighs 100 kg more. 4.9 and 5.4 from 0-100, is also not so big a difference. If it should become the SLK 350 e, would he definitely get the AMG styling package and AMG-18″, as well as Bi-Xenon, sports suspension/lower, 7G automatic, comand, sound system, leather and seat heating. Any tips & suggestions, what else should absolutely be pure? Or what is superfluous? Best regards Brito

  • purchasing consultancy SLK 280

hi, come from the e60 forum (bmw 5er) and look for a nice cabrio that is suitable for everyone in my mind Z4 2.5si (r6, 218ps) and SLK 280 (v6, 231ps). we stay with the SLK. how is the motor? enough the power? higher PS can not be afforded by insurance technical reasons I tend to the hand switch, but the question is, is an automatic transmission of MB (don’t know me at all) more useful than a hand switch? should I consider something regarding EZ? thought about it this way 2007 because these were now significantly reduced price. I drove the z4 test today, as I am used to from BMW, was the car of all first visions, the feeling and especially the engine sound impressed me, not to mention the processing, which I hope from MB can also hope to this MB? http://www.autoscout24.de/Details.aspx?id=leubkujw1mtc to identify any defects or errors? missing what about the equipment? is the vehicle with KM a no go? should I rather buy directly at the friendly MB dealer? ask about questions edit: the vehicle has automatic, could I possibly upgrade steering wheel shift paddles? would then be important to me, not to mention the new rims so, so I would have that for the first time. thank you for first pheeR

  • SLK – rust inside on bonnet !!!

A friend of mine drives a SLK year 1999, 110,000 km, accident-free with original paint. When you open the hood, you can see the inside left under the edge of the hood at the height of the headlight on a length of approx. 15 cm the paint swells or rusts and bursts from the inside! He drove the car to the MB branch, the master said that it is already the 3rd SLK that has this problem. He measured the paint thickness and confirmed that it is all accident-free. Nevertheless, the Mercedes does not compensate the damage because the car is already over 8 years old. Really bad, because it is obviously a mistake of the manufacturer. The master dismissed the rust as a “pure cosmetic problem”. I suspect however that it is only a question of time until the rust eats through the surface. Do not want to know what the hood looks like in 5 years. Mercedes does not even want to replace a smart repair. What should the 8-year limit? Builds MB cars that should last only 8 years Bin very much over SLK is considered to be stainless. Who can say anything about this or who has had similar experiences?

  • SLK gift

My grandmother decided to leave her car in the garage at the age of 86 and give it to her grandchildren, my sister and me. Now I don’t know if that makes any sense at all. Is it about the SKL first series in disgusting light blue baby color. Apart from the color, I don’t know much about the car at the moment. My grandmother could tell us about the car. The car got a new TÜV badge and didn’t have to go to the workshop due to any defects. I assume, however, that the KM stand should be kept within limits. She bought the car as an annual car about 5 years ago and then drove more and more rarely, due to worse eyes etc. Now I wanted to ask here for tips. How expensive is it? Is it worth it, or do you rather recommend selling the car and then buying yourself a smaller cheaper one? Unfortunately, I have no idea of cars at all and in my circle of friends everyone tells me something different. Let’s see what you can contribute to the decision. Thank you already. Greeting, Max
