hello! for about 6 months I’ve had a slk build year 98 with a good 140000 km down.by reading in the forum and the fear in the crack I would have seen a few macks that I didn’t just see I just drove quickly to the benz dealer, absolutely wanted to know if oil is leaking out.Well, after pulling off the plug you saw that miserable already!!I’m not sure if it’s good to use a stopper now,don’t forget how far the oil is already..have so far no appearances,that means the mot orleuchte is “noch” aus!!! don’t like to pay a lot of money for later reperatures.The master thinks I don’t have to do anything as long as there’s nothing to light up what an answer I tell you;-) what do you think it makes sense to put in a stopper or can I assume it won’t bring anything more!? thank you already!!!! gruss JR:-)

SLK R 172 Air conditioning
Hello, I’m just looking for a chic 350er and notice with horror that almost all used ones “only” have the series climate. Despite former new prices of approx. 75k €, the Thermotronic was surprisingly dispensed with. Since I don’t really get smart from brochures and online operating instructions here my question to the happy R172 owners: The series climate is completely manual, right? Temperature and blower level have to be set manually are and are not automatically throttled or re-regulated after reaching the target temperature!? Thank you in advance and greeting, Marcus.

Oil measuring rod to milk mice and tar on matt lacquer
Hi and nice 2nd Christmas Day still, I just checked the oil from my SLK 3.5 (current and last SLK model) (drive 400 km tomorrow) and once again found that the measuring rod is not good. According to Audi, BMW and now the 2nd Mercedes, this is the worst measuring rod I have had so far (see also picture1). Without cleaning the rod with a cloth before, it looks as if no oil was available (oil rod as dry). After a 1/2 hour stand on a straight surface, my current oil level looks like on the picture (with rags wiped off). 3 times I repeated the measurement, I hope the oil level is right (yellow wedge). Why on the plastic side of “too much oil”, also oil stains (red file) are puzzling to me. Better too little, than with this measuring system try the highest level. 2. Problem: Small tar spotting of freshly tarred roads on grey matt lacquer. Constantly there are small tar stains on the paint surface, which you then have to remove with the fingernail laboriously. But now there are tons of them! How can I remove the tar without getting shiny varnish? With tearent remover? With matt lacquer shampoo it is not possible. Does anyone have an idea or already good experience with it? Nice time still Tom

Hey is currently looking for something small compact and above all cheap for me. I don’t drive regularly, so no long distances to work and when I drive mostly short distances in the city and surroundings of Hamburg. Wants a car that drives reliably for the next 2-3 years. Help with the oil stop cable…
Hola SLKler, I recently bought a SLK 200 compressor R170. At a car dealer who is also a car master. By chance I became aware of the keyword oil top kabal. So, now I passed by at MB, and let me see if the oil top cable is already in it and they told me that it can be installed for 50,- EUR. Unfortunately, it was found that the oil is already in the control unit and also the Lambda probe would be affected. Since this is actually still In the warranty of the dealer, the oil stop cable has not been installed with the hint, both the camshaft adjuster, as well as the wire harness, the control unit and the lampda probe should be replaced (approx. 3000 EUR). *uaaa* In case of demand with the seller (Car dealer/master) he said that he wants to clean this and then install the oil stop cable (MB wants to earn only money). Now my question is, is that right, or what can be cleaned and what needs to be replaced? According to another MB branch, in which I asked for a second opinion, only the oil lubrication is a damage or lack of the thing, even without the engine or the control unit ticking around. The OBD lamp is not yet burning. They continued to think that at least the wire harness and the magnet at the camshaft adjuster should be replaced, about 350 + 60 EUR. My legal protection could be Unfortunately I don’t say if it’s a lack, for that I would have to consult a lawyer, which I would like to do without, especially since my other car is already sold, I have bought new rims, winter tires etc., i.e. I don’t want to actually resign from the dealer. Well, what do you think, is it a lack if it has not yet come to a damage to the ECU, Lambda probe etc.? I am grateful for every tip, maybe someone has already had such a thing done and knows the prices with work time, because I can’t do it myself 😉

Roof rack for SLK 55 AMG retrofitting
Now I have just read how I can make a basic carrier + ski carrier a friend in my SLK 55 AMG! And the sobering thing is: you can’t! There are for the SLK 200 – 350 retrofits so that you can mount a basic carrier + module if this has not happened ex factory! Only with the AMG package, which is part of the 55er, it is not possible! Has someone perhaps done this already or knows how this can work??? I find really mad that it is from W it is feasible, but in hindsight it is no longer possible… LG Basti

Year of construction or km, what is more important?
Hello, since I want to buy a SLK 171 as already mentioned, I am currently looking around on the Internet. What to look for if you want to spend approx. 26 – max. 28. It should definitely be one after Mopf. But is it better, e.g. Bauj. 2008 and 10,000 km the year of construction 2009 and 35,000 km? Maybe someone can help?

SLK R170, turns, starts briefly but immediately again – 3 workshops HILFLOS !!!
Who can help ? The SLK200 Bj.1999 R170 was parked while shopping on the parking lot and afterwards he didn’t spat on anymore !! He starts, turns briefly and goes out again. After about 6 months he still does not run, although 3 workshops have tried it. Petrol pump runs, K4o swapped and all power connections checked – NO success !!EXCLAIMER shows the following error : 1. Engine control unit NO communication. 2. Wheel speeder comparison not in order Had possibly jem and the same problem ?? Tips, advice, suggestions DRINGEND requested. Thanks and LG Bernhart
