  • Choosing lever blocked in P – it’s probably not the plastic jack and also not the brake switch

Hello dear SL-R230 owner! I come from the S-Class Forum and drive an S500 (W220). Both vehicle types are in common that the middle circuit 1. is not alive forever and 2. is no longer available at MB. My vehicle is currently incapacitated and has a problem with the Shift Lock. Maybe there is also in this forum someone who is deep in the matter and can contribute to the DAS diagnosis something in this S-Class post If someone has recently received the middle circuit at MB I would be grateful for information. Has it ever been possible to activate a used center circuit without having to change the ignition lock and engine control unit for another vehicle? @db-fuchs will you please stop by?

  • Mercedes SL 500 R 230 tailgate opens heavy

Hello, I’m still relatively new in the SL scene and I have a question. My tailgate opens relatively heavy-handedly. In practice this is how it works: I press the button on the key, the tailgate jumps up slightly. Then I want to open it and notice that it is relatively difficult. With a normal boot cover I would say that the gas dampers are a bit weak on the chest – with the SL this can hardly be a topic. What I still notice is a slight squeaking. Is there perhaps a point that I could lubricate (and with what) to make it a bit more smooth again? When closing it, I also have to throw the lid relatively sweepingly “” – I don’t know whether this is normal? When opening the cover I notice my limitations. Of course, I hear the pump surren… but that should be normal – but I don’t have the reference, as it may be. Many thanks already in advance for your assessments.

  • Purchase of an R129

Hello, I’m busy buying an R 129 because I used to drive it in my young years. Was then abolished because of family. But I decided to drive this car again. Now I thought to find a car that is short (or medium term) before an H-approval. The many offers on the net confuse me more than they use. As a everyday car I drive an E-car (Skoda Enyaq). Are there any corner points on which one has to pay attention? – how important is a low km-performance ? – what is with US imports ? – is it useful to have an expert report? Thank you for the answers and the help Dieter

  • passing beam defective r230

hello, I have a little problem with my r230. occasionally, when I turn on the light, I get the error message dimming light to the right. it’s then that only the xenon is on the left. if I turn on and off the light several times, the right xenon starts to light up at some point. this error is also not always, just occasionally. I have already solved all plugs and put them right again, without success. the error remained. unfortunately you can’t tell me whether the xenon burner, or the control unit is defective. however, I have been told that in each case the push bar has to go down to the front to get to the spotlights. I want to know now whether this is right, and if so, how best I go about it, because my plan is to change the means of light from left to right to see if it is on the xenon burner or on the control unit, because I want to change them in every case to be grateful, because I am very much interested in the 900s forum.

  • Purchase advice: W116 or W126?

Hello people! I would like to buy a Mercedes Old-/youngtimer soon and have set myself on a mercedes S-class between 75′ and 90. However, I can not yet decide between W116 and W126. My budget is quite limited (350€), however, I have been screwing with uncles and friends on cars and motorcycles for years, which means that I can also make repairs myself. Important for me is a correspondingly small engine due to the already high consumption. (260/280/300er) For which of the two vehicles would you decide and why? Experience reports, weak points, spare parts situation, as well as insurance, tax costs, tips and advice please just post in. I really appreciate you for every info super! Greeting Philipp.

  • Which S-Class series are you driving?

Hello, this survey I created on request and on behalf of Dr.Dennis. I think many of you will find pleasure in it and participate in it. Since this vote does not belong to me, but to Dr.Dennis, I now leave the word to him. Original written by Dr.Dennis Hello dear S-Class friends, I thought we would start a survey to take stock here in the forum. Who actually drives which series? I would like if only the respective actual “S-Class drivers” to vote with not to distort the result. Thank you for your participation. LG Dennis

  • CL65 AMG (C215) – the heart says yes, the head no

I have the chance to buy a CL65 from private, very well maintained, accident-free and out of serious possession…about 130,000km, black/anthracite inside. Very fascinating car, THE steam hammer…I would move the car only as a hobby car occasionally perhaps 3000km / year, insofar consumption and general maintenance are irrelevant. However, I have concerns about the complexity of the V12 biturbo (thermal problems, as it is rather “warm” here), and the EPC chassis…rightly?! Is everything almost 10 years old now and not even repaired in case of damage… Does anyone have any experience with the M275 in the large coupé or the saloon, and how likely is an EPC defect in running performance and age? Does the EPC take it ill if the car is moved only irregularly and rather little? Thanks for all the assessments (even what you can pay for such a car…) Jan

  • W203 CDI320 Optimizing intake air guides ?

Everyone who drives this vehicle also knows the problem with the relatively small air filters for the intake air of the engine. As with this engine the very large air intakes of each insect and what always flies around directly swallows, the filters are relatively fast on long motorway rides. When I saw this week in a workshop an S class with the CDI 320 engine, I was amazed. In the S class the intake air opening is covered by a plastic part on both sides. I would have liked to show you a photo, but did not find one at a time. I would try to screw a metal part from the inside on the upper radiator lamellas. Or to attach to the Schossbrücke bell plates. Ultimately, the insects etc. should not be able to fly directly into the air filter box. Has anyone tried this before? What do you think of this idea?
