I have informed myself about the series by now quite comprehensively and am in the picture that the biggest problem of the R170 is probably its rust susceptibility. In some used consulting however, I have read that the mopf more problems What engine would you recommend, 200, 200K, or 230K? I don’t care about breaking any track records now, but rather should the engine be unproblematic and reliable. Deck error since replacement of hydraulic cylinders R129 Ez1997
Hello municipality, last year I changed my hydraulic cylinders over the windshield with good hints from you because they were leaking. Since then I have the problem that the red button, with which the cover is opened and closed, lights red with closed cover. When opening and closing it flashes red. I was reading from a friend to the error – and there was in it that the hydraulic oil gets too hot (over 85°C). My acquaintance is a recognized professional, but since When closing, they are also no longer driven up. At other things, the cover works, how ́s it supposed to be. Is there somewhere a sensor in the ass or has something to be re-learned? Emergency like? Thanks already for helpful approaches. I am still on vacation, but as soon as I get back, I want to get there again.

Luggage compartment lock
After closing the boot cover, the lock does not attract it. Not necessarily a problem, but the Vario roof cannot be moved. The message is that the boot should be closed. I closed the lock manually in the first stage when the flap is open. Now, I think, the second stage (pulling the lid) would have to come. But nothing happens. If I now press the open handle from the outside, the lever moves (see e picture, yellow arrow), and the part, (red arrow) moves briefly back and forth. And from the direction of the driver’s seat one hears a short noise, probably the pump. The ZV works perfectly. Should be called, pump should be OK. Where could the error lie? Maybe someone knows what before I expand the whole lock. Greetings Helge

After booster connection the SL is dead
Hello,maybe you can help me,wanted to start my SL Mopf 2 but nothing went on, battery was empty.I then attached a booster to the battery in the engine compartment, I could only turn on when I wanted to start everything went off, now nothing goes on with charged battery!Control unit or is there a main fuse somewhere?

New tandem pump fails
At the end of an exit, an atypical noise from the AMG-SL engine compartment was noticed. The preliminary investigation, even under decrease of the rib belt, revealed the strong suspicion of the failure of a “New Tandem Pump” recently changed by “Exclusive Automobile”. The external appearance of the pump caused doubts as to whether it was an original pump. As to the repaired tandem pumps, it should be noted that the pump manufacturers do not supply spare parts. .A repair without original-ET raises at least questions. Exclusiv Automobile does not answer multiple requests about the scope of the repairs and exchanged parts. This is surprising, because usually the type and scope of the repairs as well as the indication of the used new parts are advertising effective. It cannot be excluded that this is an individual case, however, should warn for caution.

SL350 R230 BJ 08.08 Noise(brumming) when giving/braking
Hello dear MotorTalk community, would need your advice Have been having problems with my SL350 R230 BJ 08.08 62tkm, MOPF 2 For about a week now, when I’m giving up I’m getting a “bumping/summing sound” like a compressor running high. In the lower speed range 1,000 to 2,000 rpm until the automatic is switched up. For example, if I drive on the highway at 100, the noise is as good as gone. When braking, the whole thing is more likely to be in some kind of trouble when switching down As if the speed would go down at each turn off short too strong. Now I was at the friendly and I was told appointment would only be in 2 weeks. In the stand to give nothing to hear about the gas, for short ride no time… Sad though the only 3 months ago made large service for just 2k…. If among other things automatic oil was probably changed, probably at 60tkm should stand uniquely. spark plugs, air filter, fuel filter etc. I am now not so knowledgeable what autotechn I hope you can help me, or give me a tip on what it might be. SL600 only defects.. Wall lid and trunk closure
Hello SL municipality, during this holiday we suddenly heard a very funny noise in the “Heck”. It sounded as if an aluminium drink bottle rolls back and forth in the trunk. After intensive search I could only find out that it does not come from the trunk or in the rear interior. So exactly in between. And there is probably the tank. A search in the net revealed that it is probably a well-known problem with the R230 that a swarm plate dissolves in the tank. (A Benz for almost 100T€ and it resolves itself a sheet metal in the tank. I can’t believe it.) OK. There’s probably only a tank to be renewed or a company like that in Stuttgart (I think). OK. Then there’s clackers. I don’t think there’s any other DIY solution at the moment. Then today the next one. The trunk doesn’t seem to close properly anymore. Otherwise it sucks in autom. It doesn’t do that anymore. Apey to be a pneumatic lock. Here’s my question, which DIY error analysis can you do? a) will be there Schl If so, where is this? b) I have pressed in the hook of the lock with an open lid once a position by hand. It does not happen. So you don’t hear anything. When I press the opening lever, the hook goes back and you hear a pneumatic hissing. But just when opening. Is this correct?
