  • “old” vs. “new” E-Class or rather S600L

Hello to each other … I stand like so many before the difficult decision to buy a new (built) car, used because I have always leased new car in the last 10 years and the price difference is exorbitantly high – so high that you can easily get a good used one from it … I noticed a few things – it may be that it was about 2002/2003 with the E-Class T-model a change at the rear gave the older models look “steep” – the new / current model has a much rounder rear ? which is much more important – I have the chance for each about 25,000 me for each very well maintained E-Class 500T Built.2003 or an also very well maintained and equipped with all extra equipped S600L to decide the decisive difference is the trunk of a combo – but what do you mean as neutral “Jury” ??? is there purely technical or for other reasons an extreme pro or disadvantage of the two ?? I am already for 2-3 weeks at the pondering … the decision can and should not be taken from me but as a Mercedes newcomer (before 10 years Audi – before 10 years VW) I would like to listen to some opinions … Everyone who takes the time to answer – be grateful now for the effort – nice evening still …

  • SL 500 with V/MAX!?!?!

Moin people. I plan a little tuning on my SL this year. This also includes the VMAX at the Sl 500. I have model year 2007, so with 5.5l and 387/8 hp Currently the car is locked off at 255km/h. But… How much does that drive if it is “open”? Tires at the front 265 and at the rear 285. Had in the summer when it is well warm at 255km/h about 3500 turns. There is still something going on normal or? Who knows more about it? Bzw who is a serious company that makes the V/Max with Tüv? MfG Andre

  • Almost no SL in winter

In recent weeks , almost months , I have seen almost no SL ( R129 and R 230 ) in Hamburg and surroundings . Thus the thesis is confirmed that this league is mainly 2.th cars and is not abused in Shit weather . In Austria and North Italy this may be different , but here in the North German low plain the Diva disappears in partially heated garages and shared feather legs . mfg ortler

  • Bad winter tires?!

Hello together, I had recently the following incident. My girlfriend and I are with my R230 Mopf2 for skiing to St. Anton. The car was quite packed, but we had no skis with us. The problem now occurred on the Arlberg pass (if one of you should know that is such a pretty steep pass road that leads to St. Anton. However, there is still a paid tunnel, from which we only learned later.) Now it had snowed pretty much and the Str. ate was not completely cleared. I thought, as they all shot up, it will not be a problem if I drive slowly.. Wrong thought, sometime in the middle of this pass road did not go any further. We stood in the curve and have slipped further and further away. That was quite slow because the steep slope was very close… The snow cleaner behind us then recommended us to turn around and take the tunnel. This was then no problem. Now my question: What w I had winter tires from Continental, which were only put on by my MB workshop shortly before. And I have to say there are cars shot up and have overtaken me, I thought I was in the wrong movie! Everything from new 3s, 5s bmws over off-road cars to an old duck!! which apparently had no problems either… ) After that I was in my workshop and told them to watch the tires. Then the master said the Pro fil would still be 1A, but the tires were already 4 years old. He had it then that they changed their characteristics over time? Now I have completely new Pirelli tires on it and have a really good feeling up to now, where I still did not enjoy to drive up such a smooth and steep road. The tires of course had their price. Now the father of my girlfriend said that I would have been better served if I had 4 50kg heavy sandbags in the trunk Well what do you think? What might be the reason for this? MfG and good driving

  • Tips and tricks for the SL R230

Since there are no FAQs here yet, I’ll start with: ————————————————————————————————————————NTG 2.5 Avoid Comand problems with SDHC memory cards Detection and navigation updates. To do so, let Comand Software update at MB. —————————————————————————————————————————————Transfer address data from mobile phone to NTG 2.5 Comand. In order to do this, all contacts must be present as a .vcf file (e.g. by exporting Outlook). Copy the .vcf files into the main directory of the SDHC card and plug them into the comand. In the phone/address book area, there is an option to import address data from the SDHC card. ——————————————————————————————————————————– ——-4GB Use music memory on the NTG 2.5 Comand hard drive (Music Register). Here you can copy music from the changer or SDHC card. As copying takes quite a long time depending on the amount, copying should take place in smaller blocks (10 CD’s) in order to avoid a stop after the end of the journey. —————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————- In the absence of a hinge, the tip of the rear lid is used as a sliding surface. For a short period of time, the lid scrapes over a sliding knob on the right and left sides of the rear. A rubber sticker is mounted on the rear lid as a sliding surface (Stand MJ 2010), which is worn after a short time and thus the sliding knob massages (or even the fastening screw in the case of a worn sliding knob) into the aluminium of the rear lid. M B is well known for this problem, because there are now hard plastic sliding rails for the rear lid. So: remove rubber stickers, prime damaged areas on the rear lid with paint pin and paint. Glue sliding rails, mount new sliding knobs. ————————————————————————————————————————cratzer on top MoPf stainless steel entry bar. To avoid the unavoidable scratches on the stainless steel strip not me To see you, you can replace these with the pre-MoPf plastic strip. ——————————————————————————————————————————————————–KlappOhren on the rear cover do not completely fold a Here the Bowdenzug – racks mechanics have been too weakly designed and was replaced by a reinforced part. ———————————————————————————————————————-

  • When garaging in winter, put off BATTERIES or not?

Wants to cook my R230 over the winter(5 months). Would you like to ask for help. Knock off batteries or not???

  • Transmission emergency running program out of the blue R129 SL500 BJ 97

Hello together, now at the beginning of the season I got above all SL out of the garage. Season marking 4-11, wintered in underground garage. Car starts with half full battery. I drive closed into the sunshine and drive the car warm to open the cover at the next parking lot. Everything normal. The gearbox switches soft and normal high. Then stopped I opened the cover with running engine and gear position P. Everything worked wonderfully. I set on R (it jerked merkl I), park off, switch to D (it jerked noticeably) and drive off. Only the gearbox doesn’t turn up anymore! What the hell is there??? Well, it will be the emergency program! Had I been to transmission service before last year. There I read out the fault memory and had transmission flushing done. There were 2 errors stored. 1x something like torque monitoring addressed and another. Everything got back. Then everything went butter-soft! Now my Fra ge: What happened to jump out of the blue into the supposed emergency program? What can I do? Can I delete the error memory without the appropriate equipment? Oh yes, maybe this is the reason: the battery was 2x flat over winter. I got it only half full at 48h! Greeting Klaus

  • Variodach – rattles

Hello, I drive a SL 350, model 2004, and have problems with the Vario roof. In 5 weeks the guarantee runs out, and my DC dealer could not yet achieve a satisfactory solution. My roof, no panoramic roof, constantly gives noises of itself. Meanwhile I believe that the part lives. Especially right front and right above the not existing B-pillar gives the mechanics Knerz and Knarr noises of itself, which are not worthy of a car in this price range. A few weeks ago, however, I drove the same car, only model 2005. And there was not the slightest noise. I was baffled. DC then made attempts, with slight improvement though, but not satisfactory. I have the suspicion, there is only spraying around with some medium, but after a few days everything is again like before. ke, someone who knows the roof mechanics correctly and important, should also understand! Therefore my question to the R230 riders: How loud /quiet is the Vario roof of your jewel? Does someone know a specialist for this? Thank you in advance. Greetings Chief_SL
