  • Oil measuring rod to milk mice and tar on matt lacquer

    Hi and nice 2nd Christmas Day still, I just checked the oil from my SLK 3.5 (current and last SLK model) (drive 400 km tomorrow) and once again found that the measuring rod is not good. According to Audi, BMW and now the 2nd Mercedes, this is the worst measuring rod I have had so far (see also picture1). Without cleaning the rod with a cloth before, it looks as if no oil was available (oil rod as dry). After a 1/2 hour stand on a straight surface, my current oil level looks like on the picture (with rags wiped off). 3 times I repeated the measurement, I hope the oil level is right (yellow wedge). Why on the plastic side of “too much oil”, also oil stains (red file) are puzzling to me. Better too little, than with this measuring system try the highest level. 2. Problem: Small tar spotting of freshly tarred roads on grey matt lacquer. Constantly there are small tar stains on the paint surface, which you then have to remove with the fingernail laboriously. But now there are tons of them! How can I remove the tar without getting shiny varnish? With tearent remover? With matt lacquer shampoo it is not possible. Does anyone have an idea or already good experience with it? Nice time still Tom

    Hello, I used my 400 Bj 2001 with rainwater in the footroom of the passenger side. (Only in rain so runs somewhere from outside) At first that was so much that I could have opened the windows and it would not have run in less water. I already isolated the air filter box the sealing rubber on both sides with Sikaflex. But there is water running out of the black box behind the ashtray in the footroom. My questions: Which component is this, is it something like a heat exchanger and where is the connection to the engine compartment or where could the water run into the component.   • Water pump defective! And still 430 km to home…

    Hello people ! I am with my wife and the 260er since a few days in Hamburg (live in Mönchengladbach, easy distance are about 430 km). Yesterday I noticed coolant loss and was therefore yesterday in a MB branch here in HH. Result: was actually clear: the water pump says goodbye and fast a repair is not possible, since we drive tomorrow (so Saturday) anyway back home. However, the master at MB said, with moderate driving mode and regularly the filling of the coolant tank should be the way to make it – but of course I’m worried. Therefore my question to you: do you see this as well ? Did any of you ever have similar problems ? Or do you have any other tricks in stock to master the track ? I am grateful for every tip !     Hello Today the spring memory was changed at my W140, finally it drives normally and does not jump anymore 🙂 But now I have a question about the level control because I found nothing in the manual about it. How does it work, always thought that when the engine runs and I sit eg on the trunk edge the car automatically pumps up.   • W220 S320 CDI – without NAVI !!! Upgrade ???

    Good ABend! After my W210 (270cdi) I actually thought – NEVER MORE BENZ! But now I found a Mod.2000 /EZ2001 W220 320CDI at a dealer. So it’s only true with 107000km ! at the price of EUR 14.900,– untraded. (Please no price tips – because of too expensive etc. … in Austria you have to be happy to find such a car, I will act naturally, but actually the price is with the small selection OK) For inexplicable reasons was at that time in the equipment gespa rt – it is missing e.g. seat memory and especially a NAVI !!!! Now to my question: can you retrofit this with the car – or is not worth the effort ?? If yes, what would you have to buy everything ? Thank you for your tips ! lg Willy

    hello ! once again a small 😉 problem with a benz. s-class w 220 ez 05/1999 s 320 gasoline automatic air suspension the following condition: on straight distances (for dodenshafts / gulli lids it crashes at the front axle. during steering impact it also crashes at the front axle. especially: almost only when the roads are wet ! mercedes has found nothing ! error memory has already been read several times by moved workshops ! the crash is really unpleasant !! statement bymerc edes benz: just keep going, it doesn’t fall apart – you know the new price of the s320 for sure 🙂 the whole thing is going like this for about 2 months now! ok, what I already had changed. 1. the compressor for the air suspension. 2. your right crossbar. but it wasn’t both. it still crawls. today’s statement by mercedes benz: ok, then we throw everything out of the front axle and make everything new, then it would have to be quiet! cool or ?! what mercedes wants for that I need yes don’t write here, or…… does someone have such a problem with their s – great ? or, even better, can someone tell me what that can be ?? would be really grateful for a useful tip !!!

  • RTL is filming my car with a routine check-up…

    Hello guys, this is what happened on weekends: On Friday I was on my way to Frankfurt with a buddy. Suddenly an inch car drove in front of me, which I had to follow until the next rest place. There I was chased by a customs officer in a white tent, where my car was then searched by customs. To crown everything was filmed by a camera team of RTL for a reportage.
