  • SL 600 motor Vibrations and power loss as soon as the engine is warm.

    With my SL 600 some time ago the problem arose that the right cylinder bench did not go along with the cold start. Run after a few minutes and a subsequent at least about 20 minutes break the problem had disappeared and the engine ran round the whole rest of the day. In the last weeks the problem got worse and the engine ran round again and again. After it had just gone out twice at the traffic light the workshop advised me to change the right ignition coil. A lso I bought a new original ignition coil from Mercedes and had it installed including new spark plugs. The engine ran exactly 2 days great. After that the problem occurred again however this time at the left cylinder bench. Once again visit in the workshop, led to a new engine control unit being installed. Now the car runs well in cold condition, but as soon as the engine is a little warm it starts to run round, the vibrations go into the steering wheel and it still has I’d like to buy an OBD device for myself. Which is the best one for the SL 600?

    Soon I will offer my red 300 SL for sale. The vehicle has a proven 123,000 km by checkbook and is in a very good condition, but “sparing version”, means only ZV and leather as an extra. On the different platforms like mobile, autoscout etc., I see prices of 30-55 T€. What is a realistic price for such a vehicle ?

    Hello Forum, In the last few days I had some discussions about the probable increase in value of an r129. The following model are available 320 Edition 500 Edition 500 Special Edition 500 Mille Miglia 500er with M113 last year quite full outside glass roof and exactly in my color Obsidian. The opinions differ that my discussion partners believe that the SL Edition is a very rare version and is certainly worth it, especially with rare colors and nd color combinations. Then why should an edition or a final edition be the better choice?     Hello So far I had my Sl only pro rata with 45 % in the business my tax advisor thinks that this is no longer possible and that either travel book or 1 % regulation must be set, but the 1 % regulation looks really bad!! Have calculated something and hope that it is not true ! List price 2013 115.000 Euro Gross purchase price 2018 45000 Euro Gross VAT 7184,87 will be refunded thus in 6 years the sum 27226,89 net tax asserted but 1 % of the Gross new price for private share tax calculated .. that is 82800 €!!! and when selling after 6 years the revenue is then also to be fully taxed .. say 20000 € makes a tax charge of 102800 € compared to a relief of 27226,89 € so about 75000 € .. makes at 42 % 31500 € !! only the difference of the VAT can still be reckoned against ,with about 3250 € meaning .. with the 1 % regulation the car costs me purely fiscally 28000 € ! meh r, as if I did not get it tax at all that also does not change significantly when I take the operating costs .. at 10000 Km about 15000 € into the invoice So I must necessarily keep a travel book .. I guess that also about 50 % commercially comes out of it .. and therefore consider an electronic solution .. enough to do so the Mercedes me app, or Vincard ? or what would you recommend ? LG Klaus

  • Replacement of a catalyst on a (R230) SL500 from 10/2001

    Since this weekend I have been recording my (R230) SL500 from 10/2001, after only 78.000Km, a scraping noise, with slow travel and idle at traffic lights. Today I had the vehicle on stage at my MB – Werkstatt Bonn – Mehlem to look for. The double pipe exhaust system, runs parallel under the vehicle floor, sunk in the cardan shaft tunnel, left / right separated. A knock against the right, small coat resulted from the catalyst, which probably In the meantime, inside the ceramic element has been removed from its attachment, which explains the shearing from the vehicle underfloor. The workshop estimated for the replacement of the right catalyst with wage approx. 1,200.- Euro. Is there possibly a cheaper solution to fix the loose ceramic part in the small pot again? Is there possibly a workshop in the Rhineland that specializes in repairing this defect?

    My plan: SL 500 – Bj 94 – 96 – up to 130,000 km – no red or smoky silver – unbasted (Felgen would still be ok) max second hand – checkbook! – not totally smashed Price up to 16,000 – depends on it… but I just can’t find one 🙁 Or they are offered by “Fähnchenhändlern”, where everything is supposed to be great… I hate these guys! That’s why I prefer to buy Priv at!!! Best regards Rocco
