I’m thinking of getting a SL500 EVO (R230) or a R230 (first series) year 08?
1. a SL500 EVO 2.Hd. Built 08/2008 with approx. 64,000 Km. 2. a SL500 (R231) 1 Hd. 06/2008 with approx. 91,000 Km. Pos. 1 costs 34.800.-€ Pos. 2 costs 36.500.-€ Both vehicles are equally well equipped, both have a complete checkbook, both vehicles are accident-free and look impeccable. With both dealers I get for my previous SL500 from 10/01 with 81.500 Km as exchange, for the Inzah My consideration: With the well-known cockpit and interior the EVO with – hopefully – sophisticated technology (ABC system, shock absorbers / suspension legs, catalysts in the exhaust system) etc. to buy or to buy the newer model in the hope that here with my previously driven model (R230) these defects are not to be expected any more. Of course I like the newer cockpit better with the R231, but my attention lies more in the the reliability of all systems including electronics. Which vehicle would you recommend to me?

Sl r230 radio
Hey people so I bought myself a r230 Bj 2003, I’m also totally satisfied, all extras are in there except for the problem with the radio which pulls down the whole car in my opinion. I have one of these cassettes built in believe audio cc10 or so… even worse no aux connection in the glove compartment and no cd changer. Quite a pity because otherwise the car is a dream, a previous owner 90 thousand down and top maintained… what solutions could I make now and at what cost point? Another small thing would be that the car opens the trunk electrically only from the inside with key nothing moves?

Prices SL in other countries
Evening people, I just tried to configure my SLhttp://www.motor-talk.de/forum/habs-dot-t5579067.html on the US MB page (http://www.mbusa.com) and I noticed that the net prices of the basic models are significantly lower than in D. For example, the SL500 (named SL550 there) is 96,200 € compared to 103,275 € in D. What’s this about? First guess, maybe the US models are worse equipped but exactly the opposite is The basic model has already been used as standard HK sound system, keyless, wind bulkhead and a lot more, things that are expensive extras in D. Then I became curious and have tested still UK (105.520€), Abu Dhabi (111.200€), and also China. I can’t have a mandarin but with Google Translate you can find out that the SL500 seems not to be offered at all, but only two variants of the SL400 (SL 400 Avantgarde + SL 400 Luxury) which are at proud 145.800 and 178.500€ respectively. But back to US prices. What could be the reason why our favourite car is so much cheaper there? Is MB there so extremely under price pressure? Does anyone know if it was already like this at R230/R129/R107 at that time? If so, this would have to be reflected in the used car prices, i.e. a used SL over there would have to be cheaper than a comparable car in D… whereby at these periods of time, of course, the fluctuating €-$ exchange rate comparisons difficult to compare. OM642LS checks the engine light and hesitates at motorway speeds
Hi, everybody, I’m on vacation and I’ve traveled 440 km in one direction with my W166 350 Bluetec. 70 km from home the engine control light went on, but the car was driving perfectly without any changes in drive or acceleration. The only problem was that at highway speeds of 90-100 km/h there was sometimes a hesitation or a jerk. When driving at 130 km/h the problem does not seem to be repeated. My first thought was a force majesty. fproblem, because the fuel quality is a bit suspicious where I live. That’s why I filled up the tank in the EU country where I travelled, and since refueling the problem did not occur even when driving at 90-100 km/h. Before leaving there were no fault codes in the storage because I scanned with Xentry. What can cause such a problem, as described above, if you drive at high speed on the highway? Since the problem after refueling is not meh r occurred, do you recommend to scan the car where I am or to leave it at home? Do you think I have to worry on the way back because the control engine is switched on and I have covered 370 km? Thanks in advance. P.s When I filled the tank before the trip, I added Liqui Moly diesel cleaner for preventive maintenance, as I have already done with the models W211 and W164, which I had previously.

M271 Running power engines
Hello I own a W209 200k Bj03 with the M271 engine have on my car now already almost 110000km on the clock of course comes always the thought, that this is not a low power and how long it will take the engine.. must say, am not a slipper! drive also once on the highway 230 (if possible). The car is always 10-15km warmed by me until I turn over 3000u/min. and I let the engine run every time at the car at least 15 seconds (wayway en Compressor) Short distance is as good as it can be avoided! so my car is always TOP maintained and regular oil change every 25000km! drive a little 20000-25000km annually (but mostly more 25000km) what do you think the durability of an M271 compressor engine is like? does someone have the same engine, without problems and with high mileage? would be happy about your answers… until then, good drive and still a nice Sunday

Start problems with warm engine

Replacement key for R129 no problem
Hello everyone, I bought 5 US R129 this year and only one (!) had 2 ignition keys. This is unfortunately common and I know the slutty with keys and other accessories like e.g. the checkbook lost unfortunately enough from my ex.classical motorcycle Biz. On FB someone wanted to pull off the forum colleagues and offers replacement keys for 500,- Euro which seem to come from the same source. At MB directly (as of autumn 2022!) the keys of the early MOPF0 and MOP are the keys F1. I paid about 180 euros for it and had 2 months waiting time. For the MOPF2 with 3 buttons operation I have for months orders at MB and it is not available at the moment, possibly they come at some point, but also not. I have now just received 3 buttons radio key for 2 of my 1999 MOPF2 SLs. I paid 250,- Euro per key.
