very penetrant stinking exhaust gases
Hello, I wanted to ask, what is it about, that since about 10-15 years especially old cars and motorcycles smell so penetrating when they come to meet me? On windless days the smell stinks even 1 km after the passing. I am already a little older, and I was previously unknown to this fuel-gathering. Is it currently in fashion to add the fuel additive? I notice, the higher the petrol prices are, the more old cars and motorcycles stink of this stuff. ine alternative to petrol, which costs less money? I would also be interested in whether it is toxic? Because if you have the smell in the car first, then you can not get it out so quickly, because as already mentioned, the whole road stinks 1-2 km far. If it is toxic, then I find it quite selfish to use such a stuff.

Who knows which vintage car this bench or sleeping bench comes from?
Hello together, we found a nice old seat. Since she does not have any straps we suspect that she is already older. I can’t get out of what vintage car she could come from. The VW T1 has a sleeping bench that looks very similar, but also not the same. Can anyone give me a tip? Please no wild guesses, we all have through ??

OLDTIMER Beginner needs advice
Hello, I fell in love with the following classic cars: Mercedes W111 1959 – 1968 (W111) -> FAVORIT No. 1! Jaguar XJ Mark I (Series 1, 2, 3) 1968 – 1973 ( I) Jaguar XJ Mark I (Series 1, 2, 3) 1973 – 1979 ( II) Mercedes S-Class 1966 – 1972 (W108/W109) I was told, however, that carburetor engines are not suitable for everyday use and only get damage during service life. Among you there are certainly experienced members who can drive a carburetor themselves and tell me their own opinion. I would be interested to see what I have to consider with a carburetor and if or how long I can turn off the car about -> in addition if switched off over winter, whether you have to start the engine from time to time. I also want to have fun with the oldtimer, and as far as it goes to pick up a maintenance-free oldtimer that does not cause too big problems with gearbox, engine and diseases. Which of the four would you recommend for a budget of about 15,000-25,000€. The oldtimer, I want to As a second car with which I drive 1-3 times a week depending on the weather and put in the garage in winter because of salt. As described in the title I honestly did not have any experiences with vintage cars and before I make a mistake and get disappointed by the beautiful car classics I would like to have the advice of professionals/experienced ones. I look forward to your answers!

Converting old cars to electric cars
Good day, cars with internal combustion engines are harmful to the environment, generate loud driving noise and may not be operated in some big cities any more in the near future. I am looking here for the opinion of experienced oldtimer experts. How about having older vehicles rebuilt to an electric car? How expensive should such a conversion be? How high should the power of the engines be and how far should one be able to drive with a battery charge I am aware that in a way the cars lose their charm. The sound of the engine, the screwing of the old treasures, it is quite part of a classic car. But in my opinion it would be even worse if you were not allowed to operate these cars in big cities. I am looking forward to numerous answers and opinions.

Who knows this differential and this transmission
Hello together, I am just restoring a historical, self-propelled band saw with wood splitter, built in 1950, driven by a Deutz stationary motor. Who likes to look at what looks like – I have a kind of restoration diary with all kinds of pictures in the Deutz forum. Unfortunately (among other things) a thru-axle in the rear axle of the machine is cut off directly in the differential and has to be replaced. It was a post-war period, after all… There were suspensions of cars, of trucks and sometimes even probably old MG greases installed (I heard). That’s why I don’t have any information about the built-in parts now, but I need them for the purchase of spare parts. In particular I need information about the thru axle and the gearbox. I put here all kinds of pictures of various components. Maybe someone here can get the Tei All I know so far is that Opel Blitz and Willys Jeep are leaving. I would be very grateful about any information! Greetings, Hans

Reliable Youngtimer Wanted for 7000 km Charity Rally
Hi Together, I’m just planning to sign up for the Black Sea Circle 2013, a charity adventure rally around the Black Sea, with youngtimers, at least 20 years old http://blacksea.superlative-adventure.com/. Therefore, I’m looking for a reliable youngtimer model, which is long-haul. Would I look forward to a few tips on what to look for with a youngtimer for such a tour. Are there particularly suitable brands and models? Are there special wear parts that b At the rally you have to drive a total of 7000 km in 16 days. Start is in Berlin, the destination in Odessa. The route also leads through Turkey, Georgia and Russia. There the roads will probably not be so great. Should one consider something there with the suspension, underbody, fuel? Maybe already one of you has driven this tour or also the Baltic Sea Circle by the same organizer and can give me tips from first hand. to your answers. Greetings Frank
