Palo Alto – Tesla CEO Elon Musk has admitted that the production problems of the new Model 3 electric car were exacerbated by excessive automation. In an interview by TV channel CBS Musk confirmed that robots had slowed down manufacturing in some cases. “We had this crazy, complex network of treadmills. And it didn’t work, so we got rid of it,” he said as an example. Later Musk added on Twitter: “Yes, the exaggerated Autom Attization at Tesla was a mistake. To be precise, my mistake. People are undervalued.” It is an unusual admission for Musk, who was always fascinated by the potential of automated production. He spoke of the “machine that builds machines”, and robots that move faster than the human eye can recognize. To implement the vision, Tesla bought among other things the German mechanical engineer Grohmann from Prüm in Rhineland-Palatinate. Musk said in the Int erview also that in Model 3 “too many new technologies were packed in at once”. “That should have been staggered.” The Model 3 is to bring electric mobility from the niche to a wider market with a price of 35,000 dollars before taxes and discounts. Tesla received more than 400,000 reservations for the vehicle, but since the official production start in summer 2017, it has been trying to finish it. This target was postponed to the end of June. At the end of March, Tesla produced a good 2,000 Model 3 weekly.Source: dpa

Tesla Wall Connector only available with FIN?
Quotation: @fanta241 wrote on March 17, 2018 at 12:51:33 am: I find that interesting. I just looked through the website of Tesla again and at least it is not clear there. They only write there: What for me does not clearly show that I as “not yet Tesla owner” can not buy this wallbox for me. Yes, with the communication at Tesla is still air to the top…

Tesla boss Musk sets up sleeping camps in factory
Palo Alto – Tesla CEO Elon Musk now wants to personally take care of the progress in the production of the Model 3. He does not want to leave production manager Doug Field alone to supervise. “Now it’s time to split up and conquer”, wrote the 46-year-old Group CEO on Twitter. He will also set up his dorm in the Tesla factory again. “The car business is hell,” wrote Musk. Previously, the Silicon Valley portal “The Information” had reported that Mu sk has taken control of the previously unsatisfactory production of the first Tesla model for a larger group of buyers. Tesla is making it difficult to create that the production of the Model 3 is repeatedly thrown back by breakdowns and thus starts up much slower than planned. Industry observers doubt that the already postponed target of reaching 2,500 vehicles per week was reached by the end of March. Originally, the company wanted to be ready to by the end of 2017 to 5,000 vehicles of the Model 3 per week, this target brand has now been postponed to the end of June. Tesla decided on a production with even more automation than usual at the Model 3 – and it takes longer to stop the machines, it says. Source: dpa

First accident
I had not yet become accustomed to inserting the lever all the way up or down around R or D. I never had a car with automatic. I have already driven, even with steering wheel gear, but the position of the lever corresponded to the gear. With Tesla on turn signals and gear gear gear, the lever always jumps back to the middle position; so it is not immediately clear for the untrained one which gear is on it. So when parking between two cars on the road I was almost at the rear A uto and then wanted to put something in front and the car, put the gear in, or wanted to, but didn’t push far enough. Trat on acceleration pedal and the car drove on the rear car. 🙁 No big damage, but still stupid. But why? The car could know that the speed was extremely slow and also that the car behind me stood still. So why not just start? No one would want to do that. Just say, 10 cm a full brake. I didn’t expect the car to do a full braking in this case to prevent the impact, but in retrospect I wonder why not? Technically possible, and would spare a lot of suffering. This is a situation where no one can want the car to go backwards, at least not at all. t more than the distance to the obstacle.

Experiences at top speed (Long Range)
I have now also driven the first time top speed in my LR AWD. went up quite quickly until he then abruptly hit the brake at 234 tacho – achja there was what he was in any case top and was also not able to bring from the autobahn curves out of peace. soundwise it was somehow a rich but not too loud noise. you could still hear good music or talk with something raised voice. so everything i.o., so often you don’t drive that if you don’t want penetrante n ah the next supercharger has

Model 3 Long Range – Question about performance (PS)
Hello Together I have a question about the performance (PS) of the model 3 variants max. range and perfomance. How much hp do these two variants have? And there are at best differences in the years of construction. If you look at the advertised model at autoscout24.ch, you can find e.g. with the Perfomance model with 483 hp, with 505 hp, with 513 hp. Leg the Long Range I have seen variants with 462 hp, 476 hp, 491 hp. I don’t look through it anymore. But I think that’s probably just wrong. e Details. Would be nice if someone could help me on the jumps. Greetings JeraldoCH

Model 3 Information about PS
Everywhere I find different information about the PS number of the Model 3 LR AWD. Why? What’s right now? The insurance says something different than the manual (KW) and Wikipedia in turn something else. Don’t you just add the power of both engines?

Model 3 Performance/stability with BAFA premium
Hello together, I’m seriously thinking about adding a Model 3 in the basic version for 42,900€. At the moment there is still the BAFA premium of 6,000€ so that you are at just under 37,000€ (+perhaps processing fee). What do you think about how much the car will still be worth after 2-4 years? The BAFA premium really helps to keep the value loss within limits. My alternative would be a Mercedes CLA for about 36,000€. But I think that in 4 years I hardly have any iner will buy more for a reasonable price (because of burners). Thank you for your opinions.

Automatically open the boot flap?
Servus!” I’m just about to order an M3, but I have enormous problems with not having features that I’ve used to. The missing sunroof already costs me a lot to overcome. But there are also quite simple things to do, like the remote opening of the front and / or tailgate, which is probably not supported in the M3. I read about the fact that there are systems for retrofitting. But smartphone crawling out and opening the trunk via app I feel as se My question therefore goes to how to deal with a Tesla M3 in everyday life. So when shopping or if you have your hands full with anything else and want to put it in the trunk. I have to first with the card to the B-pillar to unlock the Tesla and then can then open the trunk manually from outside, or ? So I have to put everything in between in advance, so that the way to the cargo compartment can be exposed ? Because I can open my trunk at an I am very serious about this question, which sounds simple to some of the others, when it comes to using every ride.

Model 3 Tuning/Depferlegung/Sport suspension etc.
Hello together, in addition to the thread “Accessories at Tesla and third-party providers”, which is more concerned with technical changes and the interior, I open a separate thread with regard to (optical) tuning, in which e.g. about lowerings, sports suspensions or optical changes from the accessories can be discussed. In the USA there are already some selections and also with us the number of offers in this direction increases meanwhile. the new front bumper of unplugged performance, pictures in the appendix, more in the link. I find it quite appealing and sharpens the front somewhat compared to the series. Since Tesla itself, unlike many other manufacturers (S-Line, M-Package, OPC,…), does not offer optical sports packages, perhaps worth considering for the one or the other, who is looking for some individuality. The consumption should only increase marginally due to the changed front and the bumper is designed , the sensors of the assistance systems as well as the cooling not to interfere. Since the part comes directly from the USA, however, one would certainly need a single acceptance at the TÜV.
