  • Low compression on the fourth cylinder

    Hello I gave my mini today to a free workshop in Berlin, which makes a good impression. I had changed my chain tensioner myself after he had raced badly at the cold start. After the change it became much better, after an oil change to 0W40 the rattle was gone, except for a little moment at the start. I had brought it to the workshop, so that the initial rattles listen to whether that is so ok. So now I come to the problem. When checking through the engine, it turned out that the 4 cylinder has only 2 bar everyone else have 8! In addition, he seems to have lost about a 1/2 oil in two weeks. What is surprising about this is that I could not notice any loss of performance or other disturbances. The workshop now wants to take the head off, with the corresponding costs. Should you do that right away or are there any other checks you can do before? Until where in the engine actually go the pressure measurements?? Could it be that for example the scrumps is loose? It was recently the exhaust change? Would be grateful for the company?

  • Mini R50 1.6 Cooler fan does not run

    Servus dear motor-talkler, Unfortunately I didn’t find anything in the Sufu, so I need help from you. With my mini year 2003 1.6 90Ps the fan does not start from the cooler any more since the cooler has been changed.The display is always in the middle even when the water boils.. Backup, relay checks. When I pull the plug from the coolant sensor the fan starts immediately. Delphi gives the error code P1661 and 1481 but I did not find anything really helpful. Thanks already in advance!

  • Electronic problems after battery disconnection

    Hello together, since part of the exhaust was broken and we had to weld it, we closed the battery yesterday. However, we now have problems with the electronics. Windows no longer go up or down, turn signal no longer goes and the light can no longer be switched off. The battery is full, error memory we have deleted several times and on the fuses is voltage everywhere. Do you have any idea what else you can do? Battery has also been re-registered.   • Servo pump failed

    Hello together! I have a Mini Type S and yesterday after starting I heard the electric servo pump buzzing loudly until it tells out and I no longer had power steering. Whenever I start the moter now it goes briefly with servo also works and after about 20-30 sec nothing with servo. Have you ever had this problem? Thank you Mica

  • R55 – MKL lights up but no error code exists…(emission-related diagnostic information)

    Ahoi, recently owner of a Clubman R55, 120 HP gasoline, automatic, built in 2008. Unfortunately with the following problem, shortly after the purchase, the MKL lit up, so short to the workshop, allegedly no error code available, nevertheless code deleted (??), afterwards the lamp was off. The car drove and drives without any problems. After a good 1500km the MKL went again. Then bought me an Icarsoft diagnostic device (I bought for the Volvo, works great). Then the following display in the diagnostic menu: “Read error code” stood: The vehicle has no error codes With “Delete error codes” then stood: Delete the emission-related diagnostic information, are you sure? Just a bit helpless, especially since the car runs great. Could delete the code, but after a day the MKL went back to…then deleted again, probably again tomorrow. If someone had a tip I would be very pleased. Or drive to Mini and read out there, suspect its device can be more than mine… 😉 Thank you very much. Best greeting.

  • Engine experts wanted: Mini Cooper R50 ignition oscillator (Cyl. 4)

    For the first time a friendly hello! For a few months the engine of our Mini Cooper (R50, year 09/2002) has been spinning. The following symptoms occur simultaneously: – ASC-T light lights – motor indicator light (small motor pictorgram about EML light) lights up – restless running in idle mode, sounds like it is shortly before dying (emergency program?) -> no power in the lower speed range and sounds like a “tractor” The error occurs irregularly (as soon as the engine is at operating temperature) and does not seem to be dependent on the outside temperature. After switching off and restarting the engine runs again “normal”. Only the engine control light stays on (disappeared after some “restarts” also sometimes by itself, without the error memory being deleted). The reading of the memory returned very helpfully: “Zündaussetzer im 4.Klumler” As a result, the ignition penalty has been changed (represently -> unsuccessfully), spark plugs have been checked (shown i.i.i.e.i.i.i.i.i.i.i.i.i.i.i.i.i.i.i……i.i.i.i.i.i.i.i…..i.i……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

  • Recommendations for purchase R56

    Hello everybody, would like to hear your opinion. Is it meant as a second car, my wife would like to have one. Year of construction 11/2011 (75 hp) or 03/2013 (98 hp) each run around the 60000km. Should both cost around 800€. Which thing should one pay close attention to with this model?
