Hello, I’m new here in the mini forum. After almost 4 years with my A3 convertible I play with the idea to switch to a mini convertible. In the A3 I have the Bose sound system. But find this only to a limited extent recommended, it sounds only very rough dissolving, but is rather for sound pressure without bass. So mass instead of class. What I’m looking for is a fine resolution, which is also suitable for classical and jazz muck. Do I get a better goal with the Harman Kardon system?

Good morning dear minifriends , in the general purchase advice forum this subforum was recommended to me and now I have landed with you I am now 25 years old and therefore it will be time for the first own car in my opinion. Budget is up to 8500 euros, reserves would still be there, but I am looking for a reliable car with which I do not have to constantly go to the workshop. What does this look like here with the Mini ? Similar problems ? I targeted the Cooper with 120 HP , built 2007 /2008 so the second generation with a maximum of 100 000 kilometers .Do you think I find something decent here for my budget ? Moin! Last week I changed the chain tensioner because it was stuck in the “dead” position and created a terrifying rattle. Changed – rattles immediately away. Earlier I want to drive home from work, there is exactly the same noise again, from cold start to arrival. Cann’t it be that the part after a week and almost 300km already gives up the mind?! The oil level (Castrol 5w30) was and is ok, I control it right often. I can only explain it so that there must be another cause, why in such a short time two chain tensioners have broken – only which one?

Good morning, I need your opinion, experience or advice… Since December 2014 I have been driving an R56 S, EZ May/2011. Purchased from BMW. My problems so far: 1. Clutch pedal knärzt if it is warmer only when tapping or on the first two centimeters pedal path. 2. Side disc / driver side / inside: constantly a lubricating film. 3. Circuit rather shaky, transition from 1 to 2 gear unclean, clutch point inappropriate. 4. Air conditioning is jamming up to approx. 80 km/h or when driving/besch 5. Cold start: car rattles and scrapes, i.e. whether a sheet metal would be loose or a can on the rear. You can hear clearly when the car is standing on a wall or driving through narrow streets. Statement BMW: 1. Car is in the 5th year of operation, analysis costs, an MC just makes noises and that just makes it. 2. Is on the sealing lips, no final solution possible. 3. Can one set nothing, because hydraulic. 4. possibly. lack of coolant, noise makes the fan, would be normal. 5. possibly chain tensioner or valve control. It greets an annoying S-driver…

Hello together, I play with the idea to give my CM Cooper S a little more sound (… without exaggerating it though). Meanwhile, the rear silencer (model: 18302239423) by JCW is available for 470 €. Has someone already built this part and can tell about first experience? How elaborate is the installation, how does the exhaust sound (…very intrusive or still suitable for neighborly use?) I’ve been a proud owner of a Mini Cooper S R50 (JCW Tuning Kit from factory for almost a week) bj 10.2002 136t km Last night – when I came home, I noticed a strange noise, which I don’t think was there before (know the car very little):http://vocaroo.com/i/s1xmVAIHqHXO The noise definitely comes from the engine block! unfortunately not exactly limitable.. The engine runs calmly (no speed fluctuations), and has its power. I did some research on the internet and read a lot about the control chain problem (but the R56). In my case, I can’t detect a loud rattle. Do I have to worry about this “knock” or tractor noise? And a second problem, rather incidentally: If I speed up to about 40 km/h, the front commutes slightly to the left and right (for the other occupants hardly noticeable) Evtl important: it is a Bilstein b12 coilover suspension installed and set quite low I am happy about every tip! Hello On the weekend I polished our Mini Cooper S and encountered small bumps in the paint. As I looked more closely, I realized that the paint “blossoms” not at the edges but in the middle of the sheet metal parts. On both sides the rear plates between the door and the wheel run are hit, as well as the passenger door. There are several spots to recognize, on which the paint shows itself in about 3 mm large points really blooming. At a “pickel” I scratched once and already bl Yesterday the vehicle had to be inspected, and then I immediately approached the workshop master and showed him the jobs. Someone from the advertising department was called up and now it is to be advised internally how to proceed… The vehicle is by the way first registration 06/2008 and in my opinion a garage car must not start rusting after just two years…. Does any of you know these problems?

Hello dear, 6 months ago the engine was changed at my Mini One (Bj 2011 / 60,000Km). Cost: 9,000 EUR including V-belt and Lambda probe. I had to take over 2,000 EUR – but it was a long fight! Now 6 months later my car did not jump any more. BMW gave the start aid. Two days later the same thing. ADAC comes by and says that the alternator is in order. Next day he does not jump again, so again the BMW service called, which says, ss alternator is in order. Gesturer I then took him to BMW. Just I was called with the indication that the alternator is broken and the battery has to be renewed. The alternator is taken over to 100% Matieral, the installation to 50% – stay for me 200 EUR for the installation. Then there are 220 EUR for the diagnosis and 180 EUR for the battery. First I seriously wonder how all this can be, that now also the alternator is capuut. 220 To be honest, I also find EUR for the diagnosis very strange, because more than 1-2 hours are certainly not needed or how do you see it? I am really pissed off. I spent 2,000 EUR for the engine last year, as well as 1,000 EUR (+1,000 EUR culanz) for other repairs in 2014 (chain tensioners, solenoid valves etc.). Now the repair should cost 600 EUR again (700 EUR culanz). If I calculate all this I will soon get to 13.000 EUR for repairs after just 4 years and 65,000Km. There’s already a brand new MINI in it!! I’m really not sure if I should accept it that way. What do you say?

Hello together, I would like to buy a cooper s bj. 12/2004 as a everyday fun mobile, but have zero experiences in the mini area. Maybe you can help me there. I already have an offer or I have already tried it and it is crazy how the thing goes and drives. If a Cooper S with 170 hp and 117.000 km from the year 12/2004. Check booklet maintained and 1st hand, the general condition is in my opinion really good. Only the Keirippen strap whistles something. Maybe you can give me some tips on the ride. With in the offer on this flyer: replacement of the battery for 125€ (55Ah). After 7 years you can exchange it on suspicion. Ok ok … ne 55A-Battery you get in part trade si But I thought to myself: “they build a” … “there is guarantee” … “the car is sucked out and also washed” … I don’t have any racing.” That’s worth the 125€. In the offer for the battery change, however, there is “no battery registration”. I know from my Countryman that nowadays you have to tell the system that a new battery has been installed (comfort control unit). How is this with the 2008 R56 Cooper ? I have heeu when I made the appointment, asked extra … not that then +39€ for the coding with on the invoice. This was denied for the 2008er. Can someone confirm that ? Is no coding necessary for the 2008er ? (If the invoice is higher, I will level the store there … or something!) Greeting, JNR
