Hello together N mate of me who is actually well acquainted with cars, this week my 406 Coupé 3.0 V6 drove with 190 Ps BJ 99 and 176 tkm sample. He meant that of the alleged 190 Ps is not much to feel and he has only 150 – 160 Ps after his feeling. That smells huge to me and therefore my question….. How can I activate the possibly lost horses again? Maybe by new spark plugs/cable or new distributor??? What lies on such a loss of performance due to age and what can be done there. Ps: My more well-known gulf GTI was driving before and he thought he would be much better off ….

407 SW Smoke from engine compartment
Hello, I have been owner of a 407 SW HDI 135 Biturbo since summer last year. Now it happened for the 3rd time (distance very irregular) that I saw smoke coming out of the engine room while stopping at a traffic light. Temperatures have all remained normal. At the next stop these had disappeared again. What could that be? Can someone help me. Will drive to the workshop again next week. Problem is only when I go there is certainly nothing. Thanks for your feedback. Greetings Kurti

Noise after timing belt change
Hello,I drive a 406 Break 2,2 ltr,Machine,Bj,2000.I have now at 120000,km the timing belt water pump and everything that is about to change. My now at 2000 u/m makes a roaring vibrating noise, the workshop has blown everything for the 2 times, because it is there the set is not okay. The noise is still there, the workshop has asked at Peugeot directly, which are of the opinion that the adjustable camshaft(gear adjustable?) of the Urherber could be,but s they are not, the master thinks it is the tensioning role below where the belt runs over, which he has just played there.Perhaps one of you has an answer,or similar problems ? Can it lie on the camshaft ?? Thanks in advance. Martina

Searching for causes……….!!!
Hello everyone with anand Would like to find out why it vibrates in the interior of the car. Peugeot 406 STTD 96. Year of construction 230,000 km 90PS Had a problem with my immobilizer about 2 months ago, since the car died a few times and I could not leave it again………. thought that the engine pulls air or something turned out then that it is only the immobilizer, everything else was in order. The Peugeot mechanic charged me 430 euros for this, the sensor was changed and still a part………. of the san yes, which prices. Only…….since this time (where the engine started to run out of time) the motor runs out normal but inside the engine sounds bassy and the steering wheel vibrates the pedals etc………when giving gas (upper speed range) the motor does not sound very normal (somehow “rough” not as soft as before) but only in the 2nd otherwise everything is normal from the 3rd to the 3rd…… I guess. When it reaches 90 degrees it vibrates slightly less….but still sounds weak (in the interior I mean) So…..now I’m looking for causes……….the engine bearings I exclude from since the engine block actually has almost no game gear packer? the mechanic…..gitbs meant something like that at all??? exhaust valve? picked up something like that somewhere, believe somewhere in the audio forum…. KAT? doesn’t sound defective yet…… could that have been the reason? I also drove on the autobahn once and kicked the 406er pretty much so on the 170 KM/h there was the engine speed from the listener pretty much in the red area (can’t judge that exactly because my speed meter has remained stuck) but then always ran normally without vibrations……and he has to endure that, or should one treat the 406er rather gently? Had a Benz there before been everything there no problem. Since yesterday my belt has been waving when I leave the car, maybe it is due to wet weather ……..but after about 2min it is gone. Can the whole thing possibly also be because the belt will slowly bless the time? would like to catch up with your opinion before I drive to the mechanic…..because the kan tell me pretty much everything Thank you in advance!!!!

407 SW 165 Platinum 2.2
Hello together… this is my first post here !!! Very important: I just bought a 407 SW 165 Platinum 2.2. Used, built in 06/2005, 50,000 km, FULL EQUIPMENT…. I have unfortunately read quite a lot of negatives about this car in various forums. I would actually need a positive statement from a few optimists who drive this car themselves. Hopefully this was not a bad purchase… But in the end you don’t get in it anyway. I have to be careful. On the 05.06.2009 I get the car… My wife and I had the current 207 75 Tendance, but we get offspring :-). Since I don’t like the 308SW so much optically (it’s a matter of taste), we decided for the 407. So, give your statements… Statements about consumption would be great too, thanks greeting Nils

What can it be? IMPORTANT !! Ask for help …..
Peugeot 406 SRTD 96. Year of construction 230000KM. I had big start problems about 2 months ago, it turned out that all four incandescent rods were over. The once exchanged the car started the first two days without problems. But then again the same game…..just that this time it is not as bad as then. If the car stands over night and I want to start it then he does not immediately go on but only after two to three try and I have to operate the accelerator and the conclusively There is a big diesel cloud in the back……but then he drives without any problems and can even be started again without any problems. Today, however, it seemed a bit strange to me………..in the early after my first start attempts, I noticed the engine noise in the interior a little different than usual.. The engine sounded “bassier”, he said a little bit more than usual and the vibrations in the interior were also stronger than usual. without problems he drove to work and had no problems except that the engine sounded a little different. On the way home he suddenly went off when starting in the first walk………. again he wanted to leave and he went out again……….again I could continue without problems. Was then still refueling…….driving from the gas station about 10m further he went out again………restarted wanted to leave and left again……then let go again Once I was able to continue without problems. When the engine dies, only the usual lamps start (STOP, BATTERIE, BREMSE, OIL) when the engine starts again, all lights start again. I know something in the last part but I wanted to describe the problem as well as possible Still something………when I changed the glow bars at the time, the mechanic said that the middle injection nozzle was not completely dry anymore…… on which there was some oil on it…… could d he problems related to this??? what I have already exchanged: Clutch Air filter Fueled incandescent rods Ask for advice and thank you in advance.

To buy or not to buy…
Good day together I’m about to buy a new old car. I’ve seen a beautiful 406 coupé for just under 15’000 francs (just under 10’000 euros). 6 years old, silver, V6 with automatic, winter and summer tires on original aluminium, 46’000 km. The car looks absolutely perfect inside and outside. Neither scratches nor dents in the car, the leather is absolutely new and it has always been waiting in the contract workshop where I could buy it with a year warranty. On the test drive has not, glared or creaked, even if I have been whipped around the curves with squeaking tires (ESP off!).What should I pay special attention to? Where are the weak points? Thank you for your tips and greetings from Switzerland Richard

Decision problem: Diesel or petrol°_°
Moin moin, I’m wearing a 407 to buy a geek. So far I’ve been able to read a lot and learn a lot about it. But I can’t decide when it comes to motorization. About diesel-rechner.de the 2.0L HDI comes to me about 90€ cheaper a year than a petrol. I thought about the 2.2L petroler. My problem is that I don’t drive the terrible routes during the week 8km to work, 2-3 km in lunch break and again 8km home. My concern is that the diesel takes the frequent short distance during the week badly. Since I am actually a convinced diesel driver, I would not be deterred by total extra costs (tax, insurance etc.), but I don’t want to buy a car for about 14,000€ and then scrap the engine after 4 years or so. Vll. can help here someone who knows more about engines than I do (and that won’t be difficult 😉 ) Thanks already for your help!

Heat exchanger at 406
Hello guys, after I searched the net for days in vain for a description, how to change the heat exchanger with the Peugeot 406, Bj 05/1999, petrol, I now ask here in the forum for your help Have found here already a post by DiNERO, where he writes that this is not so complicated, and then wrote it on, but up to now I have no answer. However, I have to work slowly, since the coolant smell becomes quite annoying (apart from that This morning I went to it and removed a few panels and the center console. I think that I found at least the supply lines to the WT, but I still don’t know how to get to the thing best. What’s also surprising is that I could not detect moisture near the supposed WT. Are there other reasons for coolant odor in the interior? The smell kicks away. always on when the vehicle is warm. Cooling water level is OK, engine oil a little bit. Please help me, I’m quite frustrated!!!!!
