Hello, I’m not an expert and therefore I’m looking for help. Be a day my heater won’t be warm anymore. The engine has a temperature of approx. 90 degrees (even on a long drive). But no matter how I set the heater it only comes out cold air. Can you help me please mfg Martin @ refreak

AGR valve for 3th time defective
Hello together, I have problems with my AGR valve again, Lupo 1.0 AUC Bj 2002 MPI At 140,000km I replaced the AGR for the first time because it was dekt. The valve only kept up to 160,000km and was defective again. And today with Km 174,000 again check light with AGR error message. The error message can be deleted but I guess as before also comes up again. I always installed the original VW AGR. Does someone have an idea why the AGR now has 2 times in a row so short durability? As said at the first exchange kept 20,000km, and this time only 14,000km. Oil consumption is about 0.5 liters on 5000km, engine otherwise impeccable. Thanks for any tips… VG Jürgen

Let lupo 3l – tooth strap change
Hello! In the search function KM got hints, but not really an answer for my question, therefore here my request: my Lupo 3L (year 2002) (today 185.000) KM got a new transmission since there was a transmission damage – everything is running. I brought it today to the inspection/service (in VW contract workshop) and there was of course also said that the timing belt is overdue. Now the following questions: 1. Does not the timing belt necessarily have to be renewed during a transmission change? If yes: on the transmission change calculation at that time it is not mentioned, but then I could save it now. 2. If I have to change the in fact: WELCHEN timing belts from WELCHEM manufacturer should I buy the best in your opinion? 3. If original VW part: which part number does the part or where find out and get those? Thank you in advance !

Aerotwin retrofitting
Hi, has someone here experienced the conversion of “normal” windscreen wipers to Bosch Aerotwin wipers? The GTI has such wipers. I know that besides new wiper blades, other wiper arms are also being broken. I would find out what that costs.

LUPO 1.4 – Air conditioning is not possible – Thermoswitch for fan, thermostat or encoder G62/G2 defective?
Hello, I hope that someone can help me with the logical thinking, because I am now completely confused… First the symptoms: 1.) Air conditioning does not cool, when switching on the air conditioning I hear a cracking (magnet switch?), but the radiator fan does not start as it should. 2.) Temperature indicator in the instrument cluster only works once in a while after starting off, pointer then goes after about 1 km again to zero and does not come up again even with longer rides. Diagnostics until now: 1.) According to air conditioning tester there was enough coolant in it, there was also no pressure loss detected. Nevertheless, I can not rule out that the combi switch G62/G2 has a double function now: G62 gives info to the motor control unit, G2 to the combi instrument. So if the indicator does not work out, probably G2 the combistat should be broken? Then I have read the problem again.

Replace the trunk handle…
Hey, with my Lupo (1,4 16V year of construction 98) the boot handle is already gammelting right. The sheet metal also throws bubbles all around, has attached two pictures below. At ebay there are for 27,90 new, primed handles. There in the table however only the 1.2 TDI and the 1.4 FSI are listed. Does this not fit now? What does this handle cost at VW? Or is it worth it no more? Or even use the old one again? Should of course be properly painted, I will expand the old handle myself and I can also grind the sheet myself. I have freed bike runs from the rust some time ago, but there you don’t see the painting so… Thank you

Lupo 1.0 ALL camshaft / cup plunger worn
Hello! With a friend already for the 2nd time at a Lupo 1.0 ALL (approx. 180,000km) the camshaft and some cup plungers are worn out, one has already a hole. Before < 10,000km it was renewed already with some cup plungers!How is the camshaft or their cams lubricated? In photos I could not recognize this so far. For the NW-storage it probably comes from the bottom of the bearing bells, and for the cup plungers sideways from the cylindrical bores/seats. Thank you, Dieter

Lupo or Arosa?
I’m looking for a used city car for my sister. It’s best to have a VW Lupo or its Seat Arosa. The two vehicles are basically identical. As far as I know, the Arosa was also installed at the beginning in Wolfsburg. Does anyone know how long? During the motorization I fluctuated between the 1.0 with 50hp or the 1.7SDI with 60hp (tax doesn’t matter, in Austria this is the same for both). What is the more harmonious motorization from your point of view? What are the two cars’ weaknesses? Are both fully galvanized? MfG Hannes

1.4 TDI engine control lamp does not go on has the Tüv criticized
Moin people, I’m standing in front of a little problem and don’t know how to solve it. I was with my 1.4 TDI year 99 at the TÜV, as far as everything is top but they have criticized, that the engine control lamp does not light up when you turn on the ignition, so far I never had a problem about it, but they say they have to light up, what they do not do. I already got a new speedometer, even in which nothing lights up when switching on the ignition, there is also no fault in the fault memory and the Lupo has been running perfectly for years. I just don’t know what to do now, because I can’t be that I have to hide the car now, because such a stupid noise doesn’t concern, although otherwise everything is perfect.

Engine check lamp
Good evening together, I have a question about the “lamp test” in the instrument cluster at “Züdung ein”. Unfortunately I did not find anything in the on-board book. Does the engine check light have to burn at “Züdung ein” to the lamp test? At our Lupo you do not do that, nor does the ABS light! To the ABS light is in the on-board book that lights up this lamp at “Züdung ein” for a few seconds. For the sake of fun I have connected another instrument cluster, it is the same. The engine check light does not burn! Incidentally it is a Lupo 1.0 Bj. 99 model year:2000 engine code: ANV transmission: ESY Gruss of the Phaetone!
