  • Lupo 3L: Change clutch, remove gearbox

    How do I extend the left drive shaft, which is to be tied high / extended? Should the shaft also be removed from the wheel hub and how can I create appropriate space? (Tripod joint? see e.g. Etzold S. 123, do the screws sit under the protective cover? Does the tripode joint fall apart during the removal attempt? Is the transmission oil to be drained? Must be removed from the wheel bearing housing for the removal of the joint cones and this be swivelled to the side? Reason: The direct circuit clutch cable is torn. At 190 000 km of running performance “normal”. Have to change the pressure plate, clutch disc, rear bearing (comp. “coupling set”). Thank you for reply

    Hello Lupo specialists, I have here a 1.4l Lupo, the Fzg. data I once set as a photo of the sticker in the boot below. The problem – I gave with the Lupo start aid (as a donor), also successful. When the other Fzg ran, I removed the start aid cable (minus pole first) from the Lupo. During or immediately after that the engine of the Lupo went off. Let itself start again to go out again shortly afterwards. Since then he can no longer move to the run. What happened, can you give tips or help?

  • Folding roof opens only with help

    Hello so my folding roof opens and closes only partially alone, I already built the engine apart and replaced the plastic gear wheel with a brass wheel. The roof just creaks thinking that gear wheel what the Bowden train is skipping this, only what now do..? I have already greased everything with the hand pushed back and forth several times and oiled the Bowden trains. Can one renew the Bowden train or replace it? Did already want the gear wheel what goes on the Bowden trains something apply so that it does not jump so easily only seems to be nitrated and thus can not be welded. What else does anyone have an idea…? Thanks in advance

  • Lupo engine clacks heavily (but then also a few kilometers no longer)

    Hello Together, our Lupo 1.0 (grey import with AHT engine) has been clacking loud for some time. The noise is dependent on speed and the first suspicion was found in the workshop with the hydro-pumps. Now the following is strange: The Lupo sometimes starts cold (1-2 days of service life) as well as with hot oil temporarily without any clacking. Sometimes the engine then runs e.g. 25 km “silk soft” without clackers. But then the clacking occurs again during the ride or at the next cold start. If the hydro-pumps were slow to flatten after all, the Lupo would have to keep constantly with the cold engine (hydros no longer have oil), or (if they are more worn out) with the very hot engine (oil is very thin) always make these sounds?   • Lupo 3L doesn’t start anymore. Troubleshooting

    Hello we have a problem with our Lupo 3L Bj.2002. He does not jump any more. We were shopping and when we wanted to go home he has to gelled but did not come to cover up after 10. After that he ran for a time again quite normal. Then when my mother drove, he just went out after 1km during the ride and did not jump any more. Have read out error memory but it was nothing in it. He also makes quite funny noises when letting loose the deed. Have once solved a screw on the tandem pump (was only minimal diesel in it), where you can measure it with a pressure tester or so and when igniting nothing came out, but what should happen in our opinion. It looks as if the tandem pump is over but how can you go quite safely there? Could it also lie to the relay or can someone help me find the error. Selection device is available. Must get the Lupo back to run. / / A month ago the fuel pump was changed, double temper/citation and a new one.

  • Driver’s door completely dead

    There is a problem with the driver’s door. It does not work at the door. – No sound from the speaker. – Window lifter doesn’t even click-klick. – Central locking is not possible. Passenger door and trunk close perfectly via the passenger door. Driver door has no influence on the rest, does not work together with the other door. My questions: What can I measure or test? have tried to measure the voltage on the speaker. Nothing! What voltage has to be there? Have removed the plug from the (probably) the engine and there are always around the 10V with two thicker wires, even when the ignition is switched off. I activate the window lifter switch when the ignition is switched on. The voltage changes to about 7V. With the right window only click-klick. There is enough to read about that in the forum.

  • 3 liters Lupo: grinding sound at first gear

He makes a blazing, grinding noise in the 1st course, which can be heard both inside and outside. It seems to come from the front left. The noise is also partly heard when switching down in idle from the 3rd to the 2nd course. Since it is very difficult here in Hamburg to find a workshop, which is well-known with it, I would like to have your opinion on it. So far I was told that it could be the gearbox, which would be quite expensive. Another mechanic said that it could be the clutch bearing and if you change this, you should also replace the clutch, which should cost around the 700,-€.     Good morning I have a problem with the idle running of my 1.0 MPI ALL with 50 HP of ́ 99. When I turn it on for the first time on the day (whether in the morning cold or at noon or in the evening) it sometimes runs very unevenly (more recently) and runs out. Especially when braking at the traffic lights or when driving in (have servo). I turn it off and wait for something e.g. when shopping, often goes again. But not always. Sometimes I also have to turn it on and off. He gets fuel quite normal and consumes no more. Passage is normal and he also manages his 150-160 on the track when it has to be and he has time.
