Hope there are also Phaeton owners here who want to keep their car in the “old” car age !! Since this is the case with me, I have been confronted with the following problem: My Phaeton will be 7 years old next year. My now opened up that I have no claim to “PerfectCar Pro” and he can now offer me the simplified version = PerfectCar. Unfortunately this excludes all electrical and electronic components as well as all comfort systems. Question: Who of you has an idea in terms of repair insurance or can even call me one !

the future Phaeton and the planned obsolescence
Due to an Arte report, I have come across the technical word that I have been buzzing through defective products for a long time (phones, smartphones, printers…). Planned obsolescence (to be found in YouTube “buying for the garbage dump”) is the targeted product life limit. This is mainly true for consumer products in the low-price segment and the legislator has given the guarantee and warranty. For cars like the Phaeton and generally Volkswagen, the long life span has become a trademark. I can say that I absolutely disagree with the product life of rear wheel bearings at the Phaeton with 100.0 KM, if the vehicle was moved almost only with 2 people and does not know bad driving conditions at all. I do not hope that engineers will succumb to the temptation or instruction for individual “wear parts”. Quite innovative would be a central statement on the subject. Have fun Hermann

VW Phaeton or Audi A6 or BMW 5 Series?
What’s up to now is the A4 vant 2.0 TDI (170 hp) quattro, but would like to get a little bit more power? What’s up to you? In June 2010 the change to a new one is due (company kilometer leasing). I prefer the new 5er (which will be at the dealers from March) as Touring and xDrive with the 3 litre diesel (but not in June). Besides the great design and especially because of the super engines and the innovative technology, I tend strongly to BMW – but I absolutely need an all-wheeler and ride in the year about 30 000 km long distance. My upper limit or down payment should be EUR 550 or 800 inclusive. 36 months of mileage leasing. Currently I have reserved the following options: 1. Waiting for the new 5er with Xdrive and a rental solution in between 2. Current 5er Touring (here there are probably attractive offers, but you buy an “old car” from EUR 42,000,/new 55,000 net fully equipped 3. Audi A6vant is mostly paid off at EUR 3.000 – fully equipped with the new bus bus bus.

Engine running unevenly
Hello, I wanted to ask if you might have any approaches what it could be if the engine is not running completely round. Specifically, this means in my case (V6 Tdi): In the stand everything is fine, as soon as I drive a constant speed then the speedometer always varies a few mm up and down. In certain speed ranges less and in some cases more often (shortly after switching into the 3rd gear it seems to me that the fluctuation is greatest). It is also clear that the engine noise with the speed variation becomes a bit louder and quieter. One small thing I noticed: when accelerating, shortly after switching into the 3rd gear, the speed goes up to about 40 km/h normally, after that it falls short of about 100 revolutions and then goes up again normally. Could it perhaps be a clogged fuel filter or air filter? Or possibly Lambdasonde? Thank you and dear greetings, Pete

Phaeton – The 10 Commandments
In the development of the Phaeton there were supposedly the legendary 10 commandments of Piech as requirements for the engineers. Two of them I quote below from the Wiki entry. Does the community know here perhaps the complete list? I do not drive a Phaeton myself, but once had the pleasure with a weekend in the W12 as a rental car. Gruesse, Jan “Initial development of the Phaeton, given the internal project code VW611, started with Piëch giving his engineers a list of ten parameters the car needed to fillill. Most of these specifications were not made known to the public, but a number of them were told to automotive reporters. One of them was the Phaeton should be capable of being driven all day at 300 kilometers per hour (186 mph) with exterior temperature of 50 °C.

Help!!!! my fat guy is afraid in the dark
Who can help??? As soon as it gets dark, the rear light burns to the right, and at sporatic intervals the alarm system starts. I then clamp off the battery in the evening. Next evening the same problem. Besides, the back right door does not open from the inside or from the outside, no matter at what time. Does anyone know if this can be done even without a workshop? I have the impression that my workshop understands even less of the Phaeton than I do, they always want to change whole assemblies, and that will be quite expensive in the long run. I already put 350€ in the electronics (Infotaiment) last year. Hope for pleasant answers Greeting Ritterstein

What good is long-distance fitness if I…
with such a “sauwetter” as yesterday (from Cologne 600 KM towards the south) must basically stop all 50 or 100 KM, to clean the side windows (front) and the outside mirrors, because nothing else can be seen. They are so dirty within a short time that they can no longer be used. At least that is not “upper class”. This can be much better even my former first and present second car X3. There is nothing dirty there. Even my wife’s car (Chevi HHR) can keep the side window and mirror clean with even so strong “sauwetter” without any problems. Greeting Jürgen

Phaeton bought and a few questions
Hello together, as a real “autofan” or as one would say in English “Petrol Head”, was with me of course also for a long time a Phaeton on the wish list. Since now a budget for a new adventure was available and another car was well to argue as “autobahn kilometer eater”, the Phaeton in the list has moved up completely. So I wanted to look at a Phaeton on Tuesday in Chemnitz: GP3, 95tkm, V8, long version, ingenious color combi and above all: wood poplarmaser … and how it often runs so … seen, in love and taken home with me. On the 400km long home trip I noticed something then. If I give on the highway full throttle, from about 4000 rpm a slight buzzing/drumbling is a steady increase until it turns high. Sometimes I still have to be able to notice the same buzzing when I give at very low speeds just so much gas, that it doesn’t turn down to speed. (so I didn’t want to say anything about it again in Düsseldorf).

Luggage compartment without automatic
Hello together! For a week I have called a Phaeton v8 my property. Unfortunately, the friend (car dealership Raffay in HH ) mentioned at another place is not the friendly one of my trust. But that’s another story. But now after a long search I still have the question: Does my thick one have no automatic boot opening (electric ) has the trunk only unlocked or also open up?

Noise only in the 5th course
Good morning, I noticed that with my Phaeton 3.0 V6 TDI, EZ 07/2008 only in the 5th gear when accelerating in the speed range between 1600 and 2000 rpm a screaming noise occurs. It can be heard (I suppose thanks to the super noise insulation) only remotely, but definitely there and in my opinion not normal. It does not occur in the other gears. Only in the 5th gear and also only under load, so when accelerating. However, besides this noise there is no indication that anything would not be right. No shift trucks or any other anomalies. Does anyone perhaps have a tip for me? Thanks already.
