  • Lexus Live

Hi, I received an invitation from Lexus yesterday to their Lexus Live event in Hockenheim and/or Lüneburg. Anyone from you too? Does someone go there? I signed up for Lüneburg on September 14th. Greetings, Happycroco

  • RX 400h switch to metric display

Moin Moin first of all, I’m new here and recently proud owner of a 07 RX 400h from Amiland. At the price I just had to hit. But there are a few problems with the Ami too. Since I have a lot to do with import cars, I know that with many manufacturers and models the conversion from US to metric units (°C instead of °F, l/100km instead of mpg etc.) is quite easy. Only with my RX I can find no solution. Is there a trick or a way to change that via the service access? If there is also someone who has tips for activating the Navi on European DVD, always with it. I’m also wondering if the graphical insertion of the parking aid into the rear camera is only a software question, or if you have to replace whole ECUs? I’ve been looking for a lot here in Motor-Talk but not quite what found. So thank you already in advance for ev deluge tips and greetings from Fishtown Ralf

  • LS 600h loud…

Moin was just at the Lexus live event in Lüneburg and I drove a short LS 600 h (I sat in there a little longer). Very nice car, the BMW 745d clearly prefers (if you can judge this on a 300m long test track…). But the ventilation really bothered me. I drive a Toyota Prius with hybrid drive, in stand and in slow driving there is almost no engine noise to hear. However, the ventilation (the fan) is already. Even at the slowest level is But when I was sitting in the LS 600h today, I thought I didn’t trust my ears. On the stand (choice lever on P, “motor” on, doors on) the air conditioning/ventilation LAUT was to be heard. Even when I put the blower from hand to first level, it was still good to hear. And that with a car for 126,000,– Euro. That’s my opinion. I am a computer dealer and usually sell my customers PCs that are extra quiet. It is possible with little effort to construct fans in such a way that they are inaudible at the same air transport volume. And these fans cost in my case instead of 2 Euro only 5 Euro, so it should be possible for Lexus to buy and implement some knowledge about quiet fans / blowers somewhere… There they build a car, which is not to be heard in the stand and break everything with the blower again… Harald, who is otherwise satisfied with his economical quiet Prius

  • Lexus Hybrid officially announced based on Prius

Even more Lexus News from Paris: Quote: Toyota has finally confirmed what’s been rumored for months, that a new hybrid is coming for its upmarket Lexus brand based on the underpinnings of the Toyota Prius. The Prius itself is about to undergo a major reworking, as the third-generation of the iconic hybrid will debut in January at the Detroit Auto Show. According to Lexus officials, the Prius-based Lexus will go on sale in Europe for 2010, and we’re guessing the U.S. will get that model too. A sec ond dedicated hybrid model will reportedly also join the Lexus ranks and be larger than the Prius-based car. We don’t have too many details yet on either of these new Lexuses, except that they will be more performance-oriented than their Prius sibling. A high-luxe Prius, as long as it doesn’t get too pricey, may be just what the doctor ordered for the struggling Lexus brand. QUELLE: I would say the ISH can be forgotten for now. As far as the bigger version is concerned, you can own it. This statement is also interesting: Quotation: A new, larger dedicated hybrid model planned by Toyota’s luxury brand will not come to Europe. Karl Schlicht, Lexus Europe’s president, said the larger hybrid’s CO2 emissions would be too high for European buyers. QUELLE: Why should the emissions of a hybrid be too high? Can only be due to a large engine …

  • Audi Q5 or Volvo XC60 or Lexus RX400h?

My current A6 is running out of the lease contract next year. As the A6 is actually too long for me, I’m looking for an alternative. After a quick look at the BMW 3 or the new A4 I quickly said no to this class and came up with the new “small” SUVs. – Audi Q5 – Volvo XC60 – Lexus RX400h Audi and Volvo are certainly the most beautiful, the Lexus enthusiastic (me) by its horny techni k. The Q5 is the sportsman, the Volvo of convenience and the Lexus has bear powers when needed. Now my (something) provocative question in the Lexus Forum! Do you think all 3 vehicles are at the same level of the eye? Are there any other unique selling points for one or the other? I would be happy to have a factual discussion that does not go down to the level of “I have the greatest”.

  • IS250C presented in Paris

Photos PRESS RELEASE IS 250C – World Premiere Making its world debut at the 2008 Paris Motor Show, the new IS 250C combines the sporting elegance of the IS sedan with superlative engineering ingenuity to create a unique fusion of top-down driving pleasure and uncompromised closed-top dynamic performance in the premium sedan segment. Its lightweight, aluminum folding roof structure boosts the fastest three-part roof opening time of just 20 seconds. Through the recently compact packaging of its roof mechanism, the IS 250C offers a large boot space, generous rear seat access and spacious rear passenger accommodation. Sharing the IS 250’s 153kW/208DIN hp, 2.5 litre ultra-smooth V6 powerplant and 6-speed automatic transmission, the new Lexus convertible has been styled to offer minimal wind turbulence when driving with the hard top stowed. The enhanced torsional stiffness of the IS 250C design promote ride comfort approximation to the marque and, in coupe configuration, reduced noise, vibr ation and harshness (NVH) characteristics on a par with those of the IS sedan. • But Prius?

Hello I have been driving the RX 400h for some time. Really a brilliant car. However, I drive every day alone more than an hour by car. (50Km/h max. 80km/h, I avoid the highway). Unfortunately I have to fill up almost every 2nd week for about 130 francs. Since you think, makes sense to drive such a car alone. Then I thought I drive the Prius. Really a economical car but the quality is not Lexus. I am thinking about changing the car. I would have the IS as a hybrid but there isn’t yet. : ́( What would you recommend me. Should I buy a Prius or should I wait until the IS Hybrid comes out? (When does the IS Hybrid 2010 come?!) Thanks and greetings

  • IS 250 long-haul economy

Hello, who cares: the efficiency of the engine from IS 250 (2.5Ltr 6 Zyl., 208hp), in conjunction with the automatic, is m. E. exemplary! In 5 days of last week I cycled to Sweden and back 2,638 km, except for a few km only highways. After fuelling 472,9 Ltr Super were consumed: corresponds to 8,3Ltr/100km!!! A very good value, the consumption in the individual tank sections: 8,4-9,0-7,9-8,1-8,7!! Possibly doubtable, this was not a savings trip, for The distances are too large. Dangers were according to StVO, in case of lack of speed control 160-180 km/h. Regulation highway in Denmark: 130 km/h, Sweden 110 km/h. In case of performance, smooth running and economic efficiency, nothing remains with me. The above values are significantly better than with comparable German products. What more do you want? Greeting

  • Test drive with LS 600hL

Moin, today my GS was allowed to sniff out workshop air as it just turned 3 years old and also needs new shoes for the summer. Actually, all this should have been eaten within an hour, appointment was made and therefore no replacement car was ordered. Unfortunately, my parking brake had become too faithful to its name and was fixed, which required some rework (and a subtle hint to the one foot parking brake apparently not used to OHL…). The following dialogue: Workshop master: Day, Mr. D5MÄN, where it takes even longer with your car, they certainly have boredom? D5MÄN: Well, won’t take so long, or (I had my 6-year-old son with me, who couldn’t go to school because of illness…)? Workshop master: Hmm, yes. Whether you could pick up a spare part at a foreign brand workshop, my people are all working on your car. D5MÄN (ironically): You think I should pick up your errands. in time? Werstattmeister(grins): Yes, you can also take the 600…. D5MÄN: heel, sabber So keys packed and started with this: (sorry, only mobile phone cam included)
