  • Environmental plate W123 230E Built 1982

Hello together, I don’t have an H license plate yet and wanted to ask why I didn’t get an environmental badge at my 123er 230E. In field 14.1 he is keyed with 0405 – which suggests that he doesn’t get one. Today at noon I saw a 230E bj. 1981 at a vintage car meeting. – green badge ?! Can someone say something? Thank you!

  • Wants to buy a W123 300D still look for tips from you who know each other.

Hello and good evening, I’m interested in a 123er but it has a lip at the front is also the engine room should be called the mud flights (inside) are black and not in car color. It is a switch. Engine runs smoothly. Color is appearance bronze. From the outside it looks ok. E-window lift at the back and front. E-sliding roof. Year of construction should be 1976 but maybe not true, I find out another time. The 4 eyes face consists of each square and a round eye. On the other Se ite too. Somehow this lip doesn’t fit anywhere at the front. What should I consider? Would also like to have a 123 and hope for you. Thanks already. Sorry for the cryptic way of expression, I just wrote from memory.

  • daimler l508d (t2) om314 problems cooling

good tomorrow! in advance: I was not sure if this topic belongs to the oldtimer or nfz forum (it is about an nfz-oldtimer)… and now to the problem: my daimler l508d (t2/model 309/”tanne/düsseldorfer”, motor om314, bj. 1976, ~300,000km) has fever. normally the coolant temperature is around 83°c (thermostat opening temperature), whether summer winter uphill below load/loaded or empty. for some time the temperature has risen to 90° (also relatively constant, no matter what operating condition, and no matter whether heating heat exchangers on or on), and the cooler has remained cold below. I then tried to narrow down the source of errors piece by piece: I changed thermostat and temperature encoders for new parts (doesn’t cost much), then the water pump tested (runs), the cooler decalcified/washed (even all good)…it all didn’t work out and I was pretty perplexed. at the end of the week I then got the nigelnagelneue thermostat once removed and see there: suddenly neat flow in the cooler, which was also warm down again as it heard, also the net was evenly warm – temperature overall of course not higher than ~50-60°c. then I drilled n few holes into the thermostat and made it again installed, car warmed up and a proper test: I live directly on the legendary Krähberg in the rear odenwald (some maybe from moped riding or the mountain race a term). uf the table laid” and my car with full gas chased up the mountain. temperature at ~75°c (so almost normal temperature), then descended naturally to ~50-60°c. what do you think is the problem? why does a new thermostat obviously not open? I have to drive next week with trailer after eating (total distance approx. 700km), pick up a ton of coal, would you do that in the condition? for the car it is actually “no big thing”: empty weight currently 3.5t + 1t charge ung = 4,5 t total weight. and the car is designed for 5t + 3,5t at the hook (total weight 8.5t). many thanks already for your answer, matha

  • W123 Purchase advice/advertising advice

Hello dear ones, I’m looking for a nice Mercedes w123. I’m still relatively inexperienced in what the screwing of vehicles is about, but I’ve been a little bit busy by buying a 190 which I’m still driving. Now I want to go one step further and fulfill my absolute childhood dream of w123. I want to use this mainly as a nice weather car, as well as a Sunday car and therefore not move it often and for a long time. In my search I’m on dre i Ads pushed that I think are good and would like to contact the seller for a viewing. https://www.ebay-kleinanzeigen.de/…/2334793784-216-4619 https://www.ebay-kleinanzeigen.de/…/2367441323-216-2085 https://www.ebay-kleinanzeigen.de/…/2369242777-216-1389 Before I wanted to ask you again what you think of the ads and what you might notice negative/positively, which I might overlook as a w123 newcomer. I would like to know about your remarks. and thank you very much in advance. Jan

  • Which youngtimer for everyday life?

Hello friends of the sun, I would like to buy myself a youngtimer and am not quite sure which one is the right one. Budget is max. 10k€. I fluctuate between w126, w124 or w201. It should be a vehicle for everyday life, a lot of short distances etc. But also sometimes long distances. It would be important to me that the car is reasonably comfortable and if it is necessary comes from the spot. Drive a polo bj. 2003 and that is partly louder inside than outside and very uncomfortable. Ic h doesn’t want a garage lover, because it would be too bad, the car should stand outside and also be driven daily. I will care for this and have to drive long years ago. Now of the above mentioned models I have driven so far only the w126, which I absolutely liked. Only I did not feel so suitable for everyday life, very heavy load and parking would probably not be so dolle with the ship. Otherwise I like it very much. Which of the other two models comes from the W126 Is it good for daily driving? The one I drove was a 3 litre engine, but from the motorization I thought it was good for short distances perhaps not suitable. I am happy about your impressions.

  • Gearbox noise 4 gear switches

Hello, my /8er has a problem with the gearbox. When it is cold one hears a relatively loud noise from the direction of the gearbox. If you step out of the clutch the noise is removed as soon as you connect again – noise also there again. However, if the car has set a distance of about 40 – 50 kilometers back, the noise is hard to hear. Gear oil I have therefore already changed and also a chic additive with in tipped. A screwdriver colleague said that the main shaft in the Get probably had a problem. Did anyone ever have the problem here, or how would you proceed now? Get out the gearbox and overtake it, if that is at all possible or immediately a replacement gearbox in?

  • W123 200D no longer starts after fuel filter change

Hello, since I changed the fuel filter and the fuel prefilter at my 200D it doesn’t start any more. I didn’t make the beginner’s mistake to pour diesel into the new fuel filter. I’ve already done two times the battery empty while trying to start it. The fuel pump seems to work. I unscrewed the new fuel filter again after the battery has become empty for the first time, and there it was full of diesel. he described the fuel system in the Etzold ventilated. It immediately came out of bubble-free diesel where I had loosened the hollow screw (3) when I operated the hand pump. When I had tightened the hollow screw again I pressed the hand pump again. Then immediately diesel came out of the hand pump. Is this normal? Now I want to check if fuel arrives at the injection nozzles. I have read that the nut should be released at an injection nozzle and that Since I don’t know my question so well yet: Do you solve the mother below or the mother above (see picture)? I would be grateful for further tips.

  • Tüv is Tüv?

Good day, everyone, we have just bought a used B W124 e220, Bj 1995, (3100.- Euro). Tüv until 01.2025. After the purchase a car expert who lives in the neighborhood took a look at it, He said the Tüv had not been allowed to release the car so in no case: wheel box at the front left rusted through, not insulated cables in the engine compartment. Now, 3 weeks after the purchase, the automatic transmission makes difficulties. I now ask myself whether the seller da noc Is it possible for me to carry out a major voluntary investigation at the Tüv, where the previous HU was flawed or “funny”? We would be happy if someone could report on similar experiences. With best thanks and greetings Marc

  • Where in the engine compartment it is connected to the automatic transmission (modulation pressure)

Hello, I have recently had a W123 280 CE 177PS 1979 which switches hard when driving comfortably. My mechanic does not measure a vacuum on the hose at the modulating pressure box on the gearbox. The hose is directly connected to an intake tube??? in the engine compartment. So no pressure box. Maybe one of the previous owners has plugged something there? or fits that anyway. Gear oil is new inside. Unfortunately, I can’t find an explosion drawing for this line. n. Although my mechanic works on Mercedes, he has too little experience with the old ones. LG Herbert

  • Rugging and loss of performance

Good morning together, I just got out of the vacation and found a problem on the return journey from the airport to home. This problem also has a history: When I was about a month ago on the way to work, my car started to jerk and lost power. The car did not take any more gas, the speed decreased to a standstill and the car went out immediately when the clutch was pedaling. Although he had to start again after a short time and accelerated first normal, but already after a short time, symptoms repeated themselves o.g. Symptoms until the recumbent. I decided to pull a yellow angel and let myself be dragged to the nearest workshop. In this workshop, the following works were done: – Set valves – Change fuel filter – Change prefilter (at the tank) The latter has allegedly sat down and should have been the cause. The car then moved very little again until I just got back from the vacation and repeated myself on the home path. This time I did not get any help, but rather took the break with some forcible signs.
