  • Steering gear shift out, only 3rd and 4th gear available! Cooler water loss if engine was

Hello together! I’ve been my first classic car for over 3 weeks now. I’m very satisfied and a good oldtimer opinion has also come to pass. Last week the steering wheel shift has become loose during the ride, the position of the gears has shifted. Only 3rd and 4th gear is to be found. Have gears removed, checked, greased and reinstalled, but no success. Does anyone have experience and tips for me? What did not happen during the test drive, although s After the registration I did my first, slightly longer tour to Venlo (Holland). During the trip there was a hissing from time to time in the cockpit, in the area of the car radio to hear. Noticed that in the heating area cooler water runs down and lands on the exhaust. After 200 kilometers approx. 3.5 liters water loss. Fortunately everything went well! How can I get to the cause and where do I have to unscrew ??? Thank you in advance ! Sincerely Cetin

  • Questions about Questions W123 240D Ambulance

Hallihallo, Bin since yesterday proud owner of a w123 240D ambulance (Binz build up) built in 1985 now a few questions that you can hopefully answer to me. 1. Is it normal that you can only feel two switching operations with the automatic transmission? Have heard different opinions and read that the car drives on D in the second gear… 2.When I turn the key, the engine stays on. Only when I lock the steering wheel lock, it goes out… has what with the ignition lock to do ? 3. Do I have the opportunity to get a good 300 diesel engine cheaply, is the conversion in terms of performance worth? Am myself a car mechatronics engineer, working hours I would not have to pay… 4. If I operate the warning flashing system, both arrows in the instrument cluster light permanently… could the aic h just be the switch ? That would be it first, am definitely curious Dear greetings from Berlin, Joe

  • the last of the “Three likes”, the white 250 CE, year 1970 Serie 1

The two 280 CEs are now sold, one to Munich and the other to Hamburg. Now I only have the white one. Unfortunately nobody wanted to have it, even for small money, so for 5,000,– Euronen. Now I also know why. He looks very bad on the underbody and the inside skirt. Everything is rusted off, but we have already done other things, with the installation of a completely new floor group. The rest of vo m Car, i.e. engine and trunk are really ok, everything is stable without rust. Only this left front side from the front wall to the seat box, there must have been water in, that looks so bad. The sliding roof is also completely sealed with silicone. Was that the evil or rather the disc frame??? Anyway, it is made because it is a very great car. Color glass, 4 ELF, stereo system with three LS, overhead regulator, external countersturbation indicator, baroque rims 6×14, steel rims for r M&S, SD. I drove him home on the road three years ago. And another candy, he already has H approval!! So now some pictures of the rustling leaf, but please don’t scare, it’s just old iron. And what I’m going to weld in first.

  • w110 , ’66, clutch transducer cylinder

Hello all, I was helped here recently, therefore another question. After coupling and gear change on my small diesel fin a question arises to me: Does a spring belong between the driver cylinder and the pull-out lever ? Hook holes are there on both sides, a spring is also available and would fit. Thus the reset power of the clutch would be increased. However, this spring pulls back the take-over piston even when not operated and pushes the oil high into the container. Doppeln is then far too much play and the clutch does not open. Without the spring it works (was also before the change so) What did I probably overlook or not understand? Thanks for helpful clarification. mfg Ploetsch10 PS: Can a connection with a licking donor cylinder exist?

  • Mercedes W123 200D runs cold and restless under full load

Hello dear forum, I’ve been the owner of a 200D from 1982 for about 2 months. I’m a relatively screwdriver and I’ve already found (with the help of this forum) possible sources of error for the behavior of my car. Typically, at cold start is an extreme run of the engine and a jerking with power drop at full load (more than 110 on the highway or uphill drive) also with warm engine. This feels strongly after that the good in these situations too little This is why my first look at the transparent fuel line before and after the small filter in the engine compartment (filters are all new). It is noticeable that there is proper air going through there, which may be pulled from the outside. My question is now: How much air in the line is “ok”? Or can not a single bubble pass through? Unfortunately, I have no comparison, what is still in order, but with me it almost “ruffles” through… Volumewise I would say 50/50 diesel/air, if you sic I have a video of the whole thing, but I don’t know how to get this loaded in. Does any of you know? Thank you in advance, Martin.

  • Music system! W123

I would like to listen to a little radio in my W123. I would like to buy an old Becker Europa or Becker Mexico to listen to radio and keep the old light. At the same time, my plan is to set a small mini amplifier between radio and speakers, which can also Bluetooth and has two inputs. Once for the radio and once for Bluetooth input (OR plug to connect a jack Bluetooth module). I have already looked at various devices, but no m eight exactly what I want. KURZ: My plan is to preserve the appearance of the beautiful old Becker and not to do without the hidden Bluetooth connection of my smartphone. And no, I will not spend 2500 euros on a Retro Becker Mexico! 😉 Does anyone have experience with it?

  • W123 230E Purchase advice

Hello guys, I’m new here and I have a direct request: Since I’ve been looking for a car for a long time and I like a W123, W124 or W201, I’d like to ask you for advice. I came across this green W123 230E on my daily internet search at mobile, autoscout, ebay etc. I don’t want to ask about a model consultation, because I think I’ve informed myself extensively about the series, but much more about a purchase consultation z u this special offer: Mercedes 230E W123 I have already looked at several cars, more or less in the vicinity, and I have come across a lot of dealers and sellers and have partly had very negative experiences. With the above mentioned 230E my problem lies in the distance which unfortunately amounts to more than 600km. And since I do not want to continue to pay hundreds of (T)Euros for petrol and can and I generally lack the time to travel all of Germany on the search for a car , I want to hear your opinion before I get on my way. Maybe there is also a expert person from the area of the car who would be willing to look at the car for me (I hope I don’t do anything wrong here or violate any rules, and if so, please kindly point out (: Thank you in advance

  • W123 mobile price justified ?! / oil loss on engine

I looked at a really nice W123 today. Only a leak on the engine makes me worry. I hung up a picture for example. Directly under the radiator hose is such a small bridge on the engine and there “stands” oil. It was still very thin liquid. Where can this come from and like “worst” is the whole. Edit. Since here many in the forum already see on pictures more than I live here the link to the car Mercedes-Benz 230 TOP STAND W 123 “230” 1977 RESTAURIERT for 8.500 € at mobile.de : https://suche.mobile.de/vehicles/details.html?id=227007388 https://suche.mobile.de/vehicles/details.html?id=227007388 I found no rust. The car was repainted in 2008.If what would have rusted I would have seen it. Is just a 230 without everything. I’m not sure if the 850€ are ok.

  • 4 pillar lift for Mercedes Youngtimer – Restrictions?

Hello, I’m on the side of building and, among other things, a hall for my car hobby belongs to it. Despite great car enthusiasm, it lacks experience when screwing (is often too cumbersome for me without a lockable hall with stage). Currently tends to a 4-pillar lifting platform (e.g. from Twinbusch with mobile kit and axle-free lifters), because: – Mobile (to screw I place it in the middle and if nothing is standing, to the edge as double car + a car next to it) – if I later another hall with another stage möc hte, has it as a double parker still a benefit – cheapFor reasons of space, otherwise only one in the ground would be in question (underfloor lift) and because we start with the foundations, I would have to decide this promptly – although the completion of the hall probably lasts forever… Since I am mainly interested in Mercedes Old/Youngtimer (70s to 90s; currently W202 and C126), I wanted to ask you what you think about it. Here you might find people from different series. Are there any significant restrictions that you wouldn’t have on a stage with swivel arms, for example? Of course there are still other vehicles / brands in question, but since this always changes, mentions are meaningless. Greetings
