Hi, so far I have been a silent reader, but now I have decided to buy (first) a MB old/youngtimer and hope for your advice. I have hardly had any screwdriver experience, but I am enthusiastic about the old coupés and would like to buy it as a weekend/holiday vehicle. Briefly to my situation: And these would be: Based on this, I have limited my choice to the following series. But I can’t get any further now. I can’t even answer the question if Old/youngtimer. I haven’t driven any of these vehicles so far and would be very pleased to get them. I studied the relevant websites, read here in the forum and bought a few magazines. But personal experiences with the models or your concrete opinions on my case would be very cool! Thank you!

Ascona C 1,6S
Hi @ll, don’t come around to tell me about an experience that brought tears of emotion into my eyes. Since the Ascona is almost the predecessor of the Vectra, I post this here… Today at the TÜV – I was already finished – a red-brown-colored Ascona C 1.6S drove ahead – NULL Rost, 18 tkm (!!!) on the clock, Built 82 with day approval, original condition !!! Roch in the interior like a new car, NULL Verschleiss, even the ancient Michelin winter tires from 1982 on the original rims – the tires were in TOP condition… The car stood 3/4 of his life in a dry barn and was driven twice with the KM stand 18T to the TÜV – today for the third time. The current owner has after almost 15 years of standstill made the mill fit again (oil change, tank cleaned, new candles, exhaust etc.) and used the car now to drive on Youngtimer-Treffen, in 4 years I can’t be oldtimer and I’ve always wanted to wear it again!

Bracket rusted, to be replaced
Hello, I have a W115 220D in a garage and would like to try to get it back running again. There were already people from the ÖAMTC (like ADAC in Germany) and a Mercedes classic expert there to make an analysis. In any case, the biggest problem seems to be that the vehicles of the car are rusty. They are supposed to be not so expensive at all, but the work is apparently not very much effort. I myself do not do anything and have no knowledge either, at the most I could do something if you would tell me what to do. In any case, you have to – as far as the front – get the engine out and then to be able to replace the vehicles. It should be easier in the back. From below it seems that I don’t have to do it from above. It was not described to me as being enormously much work or. Probably there is also worse in the world, but how much effort is it really read now? Because getting the engine out is not a problem, because I know enough people who can do it. Have a pit in the garage, though I would like to make it more professionally.

Kadett C with C20XE – which gearbox?
Hello, I’ve been reading along at the Opel Forum for a long time, although I call it my own at the moment. Now, however, a plan that has been waiting a long time for its implementation: I would like to have fun buying a Opel Kadett C Coupe. However, the Kadett C car body with Kadett E GSI 16V engine is in my mind. I have read that there is a distributorless variant of this engine that fits very well into the C Kadett. The question now is, which gear is appropriate in relation to the engine speed and torque? Rumor has it always come to my attention that the Omega 2,4l should be equipped with a gearbox that fits either directly to the C20XE or with the help of other original Opel parts can be made suitable. Did anyone ever know more about this topic? Has someone already started such a conversion or even finished it? Would you like to report club meetings or Opel regular tables if someone has information there. Further questions about the applicable braking system come to my mind…. and …. and… I am grateful for any information, suggestion or criticism.

Is my cadet E Bj.90 a youngtimer?
Hello, sorry for the stupid question but I would like to know if my cadet is to be labeled as a youngtimer. I drive a “real” cadet E GSI 16V (key numbers, letter etc.). Really because it is not a 16V conversion. Since there were only 716 copies according to Wikipedia until 1.1.2009 offiziel, the question arises me if this circumstance possibly also contributes to it. I have no idea about that therefore I ask you. Hope that one can explain it to me. Thank you already . Mfg Astra-f-anatic

paint cleaner TV-Shop
Hello, I’m looking for such a kind of car care kit, which I had seen in a TV store about 3 weeks ago, but I wasn’t sure if that was not “the people fooled”. I don’t know what that was called anymore, so I can’t find it anymore. It was definitely in black form and should be WITHOUT WATER! especially suitable for the oldtimer care, because, according to the moderator, it does not cause any scratches PLUS!!! existing damage, like, I gl Aube dull varnish, refreshes again and CERTIFICATE (at least in this article) makes it look like new again. So it should replace the washing and refresh the varnish, without water! Does anyone know what this product is called and possibly also whether it holds, what it promises or if I should better leave my fingers behind, because everything is complete fraud, or can even harm the varnish? Thank you very much.

Is it worth it?
Hello I don’t know if this belongs here but I’ll try it! So 2 weeks ago I bought an old farmhouse, when searching in the old barn the shock!! behind a tractor was an old cadet GTE thought first I don’t really see because I had sold mine only 2 years ago. Now my question is if a restoration is worth it is from 1979 rust he has what I have seen so far only strobe he covered with straw. I want him as he stands there not without Since he loudly had the previous owner whom I approached a few days ago for almost 30 years, the man had driven him only briefly and had to give up everything because of illness. According to tacho the just 6423km should have driven My problem is that he does not let himself be pushed by hand at least!!He has to build out there because of barns, garage I have yes but if it is so good to pull out with the train machine I don’t know. What do I have to do with the car everything we So I can even start it without damaging anything?

Looks optically still really top My question is now, what are there in this car for weak spots and what can it cost with 2 years tüv. also an important question would be how much it is built up, have Googled there already and there came values of 8-13l on what is already happig. Is there a cold running controller to retrofit anywhere? mfg
