  • Shipping from the USA – with which company? Rinkens or Pangaea?

Hello, I will take 2 used but new vehicles from the USA to Germany in 2-3 weeks and ask myself who I should order with it. I would love to have a contact person in Germany, but I don’t have to be. I have taken Rinkens and Pangaea Cargo into the nearer selection. Pangaea Cargo has communicated fantastically and answered all questions but their ALL-RISK insurance covers no scratches and paint damage!? The Rinkens contact here in the states schei nt not to read my emails properly, anyway I still have some unexplained questions like e.g. insurance cover. Who can you recommend me? 2 cars from Houston to Bremerhaven deliver in undamaged condition with minimal stress for me? 🙂 Thank you!

  • Cadillac workshop in the north ? Where ?

Moin, I’m going to get a new vehicle next year. I’m thinking of buying a Cadiillac. Object of desire is currently a CTS 3.6 but it could also be a SRX or STS. On the HP of Cadillac my next dealers would be in Lohne, Porta Westfalica or Neubrandenburg. I live in Hamburg. For inspections or repairs a little far away. Is there a reasonable and reliable working company in HH or environment at such a company? Otherwise I would have to look around for (vehicle) alternatives. Greeting Stefan

  • Change W123 coupling hose

Hello friends of the old stars, I currently have a bit of problems with my clutch hydraulics. The first two three KMs it is relatively difficult to switch with, after that no more problems, so probably air in the system. Taker and encoder cylinders are not soooo old (about 3 years) so that I could imagine that it might also be on the clutch hose this time. Now I looked at the “Russen-EPC” and saw that there are apparently two different versions (see photo).Does anyone here know which type of hose has been installed in which cars? (I know I could get the information from Mercedes and then order there, but both versions cost 150€ each which I am not ready to pay for a hydraulic hose). The second question would be if someone changed the hose recently and could provide relevant information for installation and removal: Is it very fuzzy or is it possible? Do you have to pay attention to something special? e perform the repair in a self-help workshop, which is why it is always very practical to consider possible complications already in advance. Thank you in advance for your help! Best regards The scrap metal fanatic

  • W114 Coupé vs R107

Dear forum! We are just about to decide to buy a vintage car. My preference would be a 114er coupé (250 CE), while my wife would like to have a R107 (380). The differences between the two are of course enormous and difficult to compare. Nevertheless, I would ask for your pros and cons! Thanks in advance and sunny greetings, Thomas

  • W123: Remove rootwood – Repair?

Hi together! Will now finally approach the interior of my 123er – especially the various wooden inlays. Over time these are partly scratched, damaged and do not fit together (my grandpa had to change one – unfortunately in the wrong wood…) Question 1: Remove center console I can manage – but how can I get rid of the groins on the dashboard?! Is there a trick / careful method? Question 2: Individuals try to buy or foil The elements are yes maximum difficult to get, because for example every different switch has… I know you stoned me certainly but has jmd thought about foliing?! I don’t want to put mine in the museum, but just drive and feel comfortable, but 2 years looking for 800EUR is not so my joy also your tips and tricks! THANK YOU! Niki

Hello, I would like to buy myself a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am, preferably with T-Top. The “old” models from Smokey and the Bandit (1970-1981) also alternatively 1982-1990 now, what do you have to pay attention to when buying such a vehicle? Where are the really critical ones?Weaknesses? doesn’t want to buy anyone with the anger pre-programmed. Does anyone know where to get such an exemplar from?

  • Automatic gearbox for stop and go or traffic lights or traffic jam

Moin moin, I would be very interested in how you all deal with your automtic gear when you meet the above-mentioned situation(s). Do you basically leave the “D” level in it, no matter how long you have to wait for green, for example? Or do you go to “N” – idle level and only insert a driving level again when it goes on at some point? Is it helpful for the vehicle to “rest” with idle, or do not always do a favour to the gearbox at all times. only in order not to have to stand constantly on the brake pedal? Thank you in advance for your answers!

  • Which car to buy in the States?

Hallöle, if there is a question, sorry…. I’m lucky to be working and living in the states for at least 2 years. Since it starts in 2 1/2 months, I’m beginning to think about what kind of car I should buy. My first thought was of course Cadillac…. However, I wanted to ask you, what are the reliable brands? What should I pay attention to? I don’t want to spend too much, because it doesn’t have to be a new car for 2 years and I rather prefer the old cars before Greet Btw. State of South Carolina, if that’s of interest.

  • Tips for V8 purchase sought

Hello, after many years of thinking, I have come to the conclusion that it is no longer possible without Ami-V8! Would like to buy a car until about 1970. (However, preferably 50s) Since I want to meet with the car as often as possible and not only 2 times a year, I have to address an unloved topic: consumption. I know that such a car is not a savings miracle, but there are certainly also differences between GM, Ford or Chrysler engines, between new engines. the larger engines (e.g. 350er) and the relatively small V8 in 50s cars. Or with single or multiple carburetors, 2- or 3-speed automatic. Could I also imagine that a manual transmission reduces the consumption strongly (although I would prefer automatics) , has someone experienced there? Have heard more often that Mustangs should be relatively economical with the 289er (approx. 12-13 liter/100km), can this be? In which area does a Chevrolet 350/350 combination move in a car ? (Is probably on the As I said, the car should then be suitable for everyday use, and there unfortunately the fuel costs play a big role today thanks and greeting! P.S. Was something unpleasant to me to ask here, because now it probably means to drive V8 again and save etc. But if I buy a car here because of a few tips, which needs 5 liters less than another, which I like just as well, then it has already been worth it!
